7 days and this EVO LTE is going back!

I'm going to go tonight and ask. But I don't see any reason why they wouldn't allow me to.

I'll still be in my 30 window when the s3 comes out.. I'm also contemplating a jump, and I've had all HTC with the exception of my Palm Pre. Will BB exchange no questions asked? I still may keep my Evo, but I want the option to be there.

Pretty sure it's a 14 day window now, not 30...

14 to reinstate your renewal eligibility but if you purchase thru BB then 30 for exchanges. No matter what, after 14 you are locked up for another 2 years.

So I have to hope there is enough in stock on release day? :(

Yeah that's pretty much my only option.

Although I do have a second line that is upgrade eligible. Maybe I will pretend it's for that line to preorder but do the swap when I come in

That's actually what I'm doing, since it will take a while for Wirefly to process the refund for my Evo. I'm doing it directly through Sprint though.

I wonder... since I exchanged my lte on June 11th (got it on like the 25th) that my exchange period is now like July 11th instead of the original 30 days... If so, I'm in trouble if I am going to end up exchanging for the Galaxy.

You just confused me. You said you exchanged it on the 11th but you got it on the 25th?

I could be wrong but i think you have 14 days from the original purchase to reset your upgrade status. The 30 days you get from the place of purchase is just for the paid price of the phone.

Example: If you paid 158$ at Walmart, then you can get that amount back but not your full upgrade status back.

Correct me if i'm wrong

For returns this is true. But that's ed. Why would I want to lose my upgrade yet get back my $200? I'd rather sell it for 450 online.

But people around here and even the person at BB made it sound like you could do an exchange for the S3 if it's available within your 30 days.

I'm jumping ship. I loved the EVO but the multitasking is the worse! It's a huge hassle that I refuse to deal with any longer. I just got off the phone with my local Best Buy the S3 is retailing for $200 with no discount. The said I can return my Evo in the 30 days to get the S3 but I'd have to cover the $50 difference and it all depends on stock availbilty. So I'm just going to pre order the S3 and hold on to the EVO until the S3 comes out.

I am thinking the same thing ... The HTC software issue is huge enough for me to jump ... I LOVE the build and I feel it's the most solidly built phone I have ever had, but damn I am tired of hearing why it reloads, refreshes, closes recent apps, ... We simply should not have to deal with this .

It's funny how everyone says "I think" or "I believe" or " correct me if I am wrong " when it comes to EVERYTHING Best Buy ... Best Buy is so convoluted that there is never any solid definitive answers to what the hell their policies are or what they ever do from store to store ... You can even get different answers/outcome within the same store depending on the time of day ... I am contemplating exchanging my EVO LTE for the S III (within my 30 days) and request Sprint to reset my upgrade ... Needless to say ... I need a backup plan to go back to the EVO LTE if I just ca't bare what the S III dishes out ... I am just looking for the lesser of two evils.

Sounds like if you root and ROM the Evo it would be pretty much the best phone out there. Ifwwasnt so disgusted with the path htc is taking that is what I would have done with my One X.

No, it's simple: Best Buy's return policy has to deal with the device itself, just as anything else they sell in the store. Your contractual situation with Sprint is completely different.

That said, the price Best Buy will sell you a phone is dictated by Sprint which depends on your contract status. Best Buy will gladly refund whatever you paid for a phone within 30 days, but if you want a different phone, they have to defer to Sprint for the current price.

And take note that the BB return policy is 30 days HOWEVER you MUST return within 14 days to reset Sprint's return policy!

You're not wrong.

What I've done after returning a phone was "immediately" call Sprint for my upgrade to be reset. It's not something that happens automagically. They'll tell you it takes up to 72 to reset. Mine reset in an hr.

The way it is supposed to work:

Buy a phone with your upgrade, you have 14 days to return it to get your upgrade reset. BestBuy is supposed to contact Sprint, and it takes up to a week to reset your upgrade. It may go faster if you call Sprint yourself. YMMV.

With Best Buy you have a full 30 days to exchange the phone. You can exchange it and get the 'upgrade' price on the new phone. In this case both phones are $199 so it should be an even swap, but it depends on what discounts you got. For exampme the was a giftcard for buying the EVO so you wouldn't get that back.

Exchanging your phone doesn't reset your 30days. I bought my phone on the 24th, I have until June 22nd to exchange. After that SOL. The only possible exception to the 30 days is if you are a Silver reward member, then you get 45 days.
