Do it! Do it! Do it! Do it! Do it!

I'm not sure I understand what the big deal is with EB01. I watched Cory's video twice now and can't seem to find many differences between EB01 and DL30. Are the advantages/disadvantages or even a comparison of each outlined somewhere? If I'm happy with DL30, should I just wait for the official verizon 2.2?

If its not broke don't fix it...freon of choice my friend :)

I am waiting for the official release. Concerning apps to SD card...Say I save a game like Baseball Superstars to my SD card, and do a factory reset. Will i be able to reinstall it with all of my user data saved?

You know, with all the nightmares with what I've heard of updating these Galaxy S phones overseas using Kies and all the bugs the Canadians experienced recently, these builds of Froyo for the Fascinate are definitely shaping up to be way better than I expected. I haven't tried DL30 yet. I might just jump to EB01 just for the heck of it!

So I noticed in the video, that thee is a little red notification bubble on the email app... are we going to see those little bubbles more with the update? For example, on the Messages app, fb app, and really any other app? Its really not important, just pure random curiosity :)

I'm loving it!

I was running dl30 and hated it. Damn thing drank my battery like a fat kid sucking down soda. Also, it would randomly fire up music I had on my phone and when I'd check to see why there was no music player running in open apps or task manager. Would have to put it to sleep then wake it back up for the music to stop. Also, text messages sent through stock messaging would be received by others blank. Texts sent through google voice worked fine.

With eb01 I'm thrilled! Everything works like its supposed to and so far battery life has been fantastic! That alone is worth dumping dl30. I definitely recommend running it!

I wouldn't worry about trying to make a decision between the two, if you're happy with DL30. The reason why I based the video off of EB01, is because EB01 is pretty much finalized as far as what you can expect from the actual OTA. With DL30, there were apps (bloat) missing, broken email, and a Samsung keyboard that isn't in the final release. I also personally feel battery life is better n EB01. For me personally I just flashed EB01 in recovery and flashed the radio with ODIN. 2 steps and I was done in 5 minutes. It took me another 2 minutes to move the bloat to SD.

Could someone with EB01 check a couple of things for me? I have DL30.

1) On DL30, if I open email and look at the folders, all I have are trash folders. No inbox, outbox, etc. And once looking at them, the email client acts goofy until I do a reset.

2) The camera offers no way to disable geotagging. Not a big deal, as I normally WANT geotagging. But I can see when there may be a time that I prefer it be turned off.

I would hate doing a reset and reinstall to get EB01 and have those same issues.

Thanks.

1) all email issues have been resolved.

2) I don't even see an option to turn it on or off. It must have been a DL30 thing.

What's the time stamp in the video that you saw that?

Corey... great video... too bad about the screen capture missing from it. :-).

Just to follow-up I'm this. The thought was nice, but I still find myself using Shoot Me. The back power combo doesn't always work all that great. For example if I have Handcent SMS open, and hold the back button, it will exit the app before I even get a chance to hit the power button too.

Cory, does this mean that you didn't go through the Odin process that Adrynalyne or DroidXcon used in their threads? Did you just reboot into CW recovery and apply a zip file? Would that replace modem and the kernel/ROM? If so, then can you give a link to the file you applied? Or am I thinking of this wrong? I'm already rooted and running the newer CW that I got when I applied DL30.

When I flashed EB01, my phone was already at DL30 with all my apps, settings, and accounts configured. I also had the most recent version of CWM Red. I simply flashed the EB01 zip with CWM and then flashed the radio with ODIN, and I was done. There were no wipes or factory resets involved.

That said, I typically do not endorse upgrade processes that do not begin with a freshly flashed build of the most recent official OTA (e.g., DL09), ot at a minimum a factory reset/wipe like Adrynalynes and DroidXcons do.

Yep, I tried it a few times, got one picture, most the time it just exits the app, turns the screen off or if ya do it just right, powers your phone completely down!!

Thanks, Cory. I just went ahead and loaded the modem with Odin and EB01 with CWM as well. After a fixing the camera, freezing the bloat with TB and a few reboots and everything seems to be working well.

That is the unread email count. Nice feature. I already had it 'stick' once with a count, even with all email read. Nothing I did would correct it. When the next email came in, that reset it. So I don't trust it, but it is handy.

The update to EB01 went well. (there is a good step by step guide on XDA) I was upgrading from DL30, and didn't even need to reload the phone. Nice.

Fixed my email folders.
But the camera still doesn't have a setting for turning off geotagging. It is always on if your phone location setting is on. So I would need to turn off the entire phones location setting, just to turn off photo tagging.

So that's a new feature with the update?

The most obvious things I noticed from 2.1 (and I am pretty new to Android and this phone).
MUCH faster GPS lock.
Mail count bubble.
The camera now Geotags photos.
The email interface is little different. But it still doesn't allow to to select multiple messages to move or delete.
And of course you can move apps to the SD card. I likely won't do much of that though.
The USB card now looks more like a simple mass storeage device when plugged into a pc.
