Adjustments, tips and tricks to maximize Battery Life on Samsung Galaxy S6/edge

Ok, this is something I don't normally recommend, or at least leave it as a last resource.

I've read in other forums and it makes some sense, so in cases like yours it seems you don't lose anything by trying.

Go to Application Manager and in the All tab look for the Ant+ apps, disable all of them you can disable, then I'd turn the phone off and do a wipe cache partition in Recovery mode and full charge it and see how it behaves after that.

If you are asking yourself whats Ant+? The short answer is, it's a radio, for more information do a Google search.

Like I said above, you don't lose anything by trying this, let us know how it goes.

Thank you erasat. I will try this. You are the battery god so I trust you when you give suggestions to try

I have that Ant stuff disabled too. I can't say if it will help, but I did that from the beginning.

I'm always willing to try new things Xd. After all what's the worst that can happen. I can just re-enable them lol

Hi
I read all the comments and disabled all the stuff mentioned here and my SOT is max. 4h with 3g always on.I want to clear cache from recovery but I don't know when to do that..I mean, after the battery is drained, like 10% or after is fully charged? If someone take a look of my screen shots and tell me if are ok these values.

With that much SoT, you look fine to me. You seemed to push it and not even gave it a rest in between use.

If that's true, you're fine.

Yes,I didn't let him to rest but I want to get at last 5h SOT.I seen here SOT much better than my.So,I will try to clear cache but I need to know when is good to be done this, after is discharged or when is fully charged to 100%.If this doesen't work I will do factory reset.

I only found 4 with the ant in the name. 2 let me disable them, the other 2 only give me a choice of force stop. Do I click force stop on those 2 or leave them alone? I disabled the 2 I could and cleared cache and am charging right now, but wasn't sure about the 2 that only give me a force stop.

You can force close them.

I don't think it will make any difference to wipe the cache partition on any specific battery percentage but I always full charge it after one so I can know if it helped or not faster as the battery gets reset after the full charge.

I was wondering the same question. Thank you for confirming what I was seeing

Erasat what you suggested has had a PHENOMONAL impact on standby time. Its like night and day. These are my figures for this charge so far

I'm glad it has worked for you so far, I hope it stays like that.

For the rest of you with similar issues, please try it also and see if it also works for you.

I edited the OP to show this new tweak.

For those of you that just want to try it just look for both Ant+ Plugins Service and ANT Radio Service in Application Manager in the All or Downloaded tabs, and Uninstall updates and then disable both apps, then I'd suggest to wipe cache Partition in Recovery mode and charge it to Full.

And also force stop the other two that can't be disabled. I also did that

Well, if you do the Wipe Cache Partition (your phone will reboot) it will stop all services anyway. ;)

No I forced stopped them AFTER clearing the cache partition and the phone had switched back on. For some reason they didn't show up in the list when I was disabling the other two but either way I forced stopped the ones that couldn't be disabled. Either way I thank you. I woke up and my phone had barely gone down in battery

Ok great to know that detail.

hi erasat,

How do I wipe the cache partition - please help :) I want to try your suggestion of uninstalling updates & disabling ANT + apps.

Also, disabling or force stopping these ANT- apps - will this affect my phone in any way (affect apps, music streaming, etc)

Thank you in advance!

To enter to Recovery mode you must turn off your phone and with the phone off Press and Hold volume up, home and power buttons until you see the Android Robot appears on screen, let go all buttons and once you have the menu just browse it using the Volume buttons and power to select.

About what may be disabled after disabling this ANT+ apps/services, well, logic tells me that something must have been disabled but I haven't found what yet, everything's still working smoothly as always, no errors or weird messages, nothing. So nothing to lose and if for some reason you may get any error after this, you can always go back to the Application Manager and you can find them in the Disabled tab, you can simply enable them back.
