Because it will dwarf my boyfriend's iPhone 4! And records in 720p! On top of that it has swype pre-installed!
Droid was the best phone when it came out. The droid incredible was the greatest phone when it came out. The droid x is going to continue the tradition in the incredible droid saga and keep the droid family on top. Long live droid!!

The 3 microphones and ergonomics of the phone are underrated as they will be most used since it is a phone in the end.
The Moto Droid X is the hottest phone of the year for its a monster of a phone on the best 3g network in the U.S. Period.
Lots of great posts in this thread. Here's why I think the Droid X is the hottest phone this year:
1) Sleek design AND powerful hardware (sometimes it feels like these things are mutually exclusive...not with the Droid X!)
2) Beautiful 4.3" screen (this screen size looks and feels like the future of smart phones), 1Ghz processor, 512 MB RAM / 8192 MB ROM (w/expandable 32GB micro SD support!) They heard our grievance with the droid1's internal memory and simply delivered. Love it!
3) 8MP camera w/ 720p HD video AND HDMI out
. Motorola just made my point and click camera obsolete!
4) ANDROID. Even in its infancy it has surpassed its competitors. It will no doubt be the best mobile OS for many years to come simply because it has the best community of users. With android 2.2 weeks away and 3.0 on the horizon...the droid X is looking like a very VERY good choice in the long run!
5) MOTOROLA. They really do focus on their phones AND their customers with excellent phone design and support. The droid1 was a fantastic phone, they really set a standard for themselves with it. The beauty is that the Droid X has proven they have a willingness to keep pushing the envelope with their smart phones. It's an exciting time to be a Motorola user!
6) VERIZON. Honestly the EVO 4G and the Droid X have a lot of similarities and are both very good choices, but being on the Verizon network makes the Droid X a stand out superior and easy decision here. Besides verizon's superior network, I love how Verizon has the fortitude to call out competition in its marketing. In an industry where smoke and mirrors are historically the providers best friend...Verizon just feels more like a friend than a foe. Keeping it real as they say
7) On the day where one of its main competitors gets hammered by the always trusted Consumer Reports Magazine, what can I say other than...this phone wont be getting any negative reviews for obvious design flaws.
Out of all the phones released thus far this year, the droid X is the clear cut winner when you look at the whole package. When I see someone whip out a droid X, I will be filled with both envy and happiness knowing that they made the right decision.

First off the phone would be so kick ass to have. I love the android platform. I have an Eris and I am looking to upgrade. I love your site and the information you guys provide to the android users. The reason this is the hottest phone of the year is simple.
Ever since the iphone came out every other hot phone that comes out similar is labeled the "iphone killer" it started back with the Sprint Instinct. Up until now all have fallen well short of this claim. That was until the Droid X.
The Droid X IMO is truely THE iphone killer. It has more to offer and if you take into the equation that you have the Verizon network along with it, it simply cannot be beat.
This phone is THE biggest phone release this year. And the best part is that the competition didnt even worry about it, they didnt take it seriously and now look. GREAT PR and hype by Verizon and Moto have made this the hottest handset to have this year.

I will definitely use the Droid X for business purposes -- it's a nice multimedia phone with great capabilities -- like an HDMI port.
my last initial is X and the Droid X's last initial is X, we are like brothers. It's meant to be. I went from iPhone to Evo to iPhone to Nexus One and now would like to go to Droid X because of the nice big screen and non crippled refresh rate.

The DX is a hot phone....can't wait to own one. Big beautiful screen, all the features, 720p hd video, screaming processor...it is going to be great! I need one now, but I can't renew until October. I need to win this. : )

This phone is massive! That 4.3in. screen is great! I can't see why anyone wouldn't want this phone. I even like the UI that Motorola built in.
How can you say it won't be the hottest phone of the year, huge screen,1ghz processor, 720p video recording, hdmi out that's just a few of the benefits of this beast. Future updates will be amazing for this phone! And lets not forget that you don't have to have a tin foil antenna wrapped around your head to make calls like the IDOESN'T, I mean iphone. The Droid X is truley the iphone killer.
I need this phone because I can't upgrade for another year and I want nothing more than to dive head first into the world of the Android operating system and leave my "Multimedia" phone behind.

Come on how could some one not want this little pocket Juggernaut "I'm the Droid X bitch". I Use a Eries every day and would give it and a nut up for this phone. Fast, Powerful and Hot yes I want one please
