Any Regrets?

It was launched by samsung as its main feature so perhaps that's why ? 1500 for a phone if the camera isn't up to what it was touted as is a sour subject for people shelling out this much keeping the camera improvements in mind. I havent gotten mine yet. I really hope I get it tomorrow. I got the s20 ultra for the camera because on paper the specs were better than my iphone 11PM and my note 10+ . You know bigger sensor, game changing optics etc etc. I'll be the judge of that I guess when it does come in.

I'll say that for at least video, my S10 records better video than the ultra. I'm getting a lot of potato camera artifacing.

I will say a plus side to the large ultra over my S10 is that I'm not getting eyestrain web browsing anymore.

Well I have had mine since Monday coming from a note 10+ 5G and my battery life is far better with the ultra even running 120hz option. I'm averaging 25 to 30 percent more battery at the end of the day. The camera seems to be better than my notes camera as well. I really upgraded for battery life and it hasn't disappointed me yet. My note 10 was horrible on battery. The ultra will continue to get better with updates here and there to fix bugs and polish the camera etc. I'm happy with the upgrade.

Great choice, I love my pixel 4 XL. The photo quality is like none other. The galaxy s20 ultra was a nice phone, but for $1400 I just didn’t see any benefit in the gimmicks Samsung is trying to pass off as features.

I agree. This Pixel photo processing destroys Samsung. I can't even imagine the quality you'd get with the Ultra hardware and Google's processing.

I'm loving this P4XL so far. 90hz is awesome, and I love the flat display. I never liked Samsung's obsession with curves.
Yes, this thing has some chunky bezels, but I can live with that.

I couldn't justify that much money for meh cameras, 120hz you can only use at 1080, and 5G that won't be viable until mmWave is everywhere.

LOL

With no sign of a label having even been created and no other sign that this phone has been shipped or is even being prepped for shipping, I'm beginning to regret that I ordered it at all?

Starting to feel this way myself. Same situation.

Arrived last night after 8PM. Didn't open the box until 20 minutes ago and just plugged it in to charge and in 10 minutes heading out for a walk with the dogs. However, quick first impressions:
Size fells perfect; not too big, not too small. Weight is no problem. Slippery for sure bet if I squeezed my hand together I could launch it 10 feet (that's like all new phones), but the Spigen clear case should help that.
When I return from the walk, I'll turn it on and start setting it up.

Same that's why I got it as well.
For me, it wasn't that I thought the phone would be that much better. It was really the $700 trade-in and $200 credit that got me to at least try and see how I like it. Worst case scenario just return the phone. The ultra feels so much better in the hand to me vs the note 10.

All these Note 10+ people returning their new phones are hilarious to me.

You just bought the best Samsung has to offer literally 6 months ago. Did you really fall for Samsung's marketing that badly that you couldn't pass up the Ultra?

It's not like Samsung was going to make that much technical advancement in 6 months? ??????

I"m one of those people and didn't think there was going to be huge improvements. The S20 offered expandable storage, faster screen, 5G, latest processor, more RAM and promise of a better camera over my Note 10. With discount and trade in, it cost me less than $300 out the door and also scored me a $135 credit to get the Galaxy Buds+. So seemed like a worthy upgrade for the value, but having had the phone for a couple of days now, I'm on the fence as to whether or not I'm sending it back. On paper, upgrades seem great, bu having used the S20, I'm missing the slightly larger screen on the Note and do not see a big enough change in performance on the S20 that justifies spending even $300 on it.

I can't wrap my head around this whole obsession with cameras.

As for 5G. That is based on the carrier/network not being ready.

Me either. People want cameras....that happen to make and receive calls and texts.

I dont understand this logic. So you are saying people should be ok with paying $1500 for a device that just happens to let you make phone calls and txts ? If the camera isn't that great how Samsung is touting it to be and expecting to charge this much for a phone, is it worth$1500 to you ? This was the major feature Samsung advertised. It needs to justify the price because of that. But sadly doesn't appear to be.

Also, people have a right to have their own opinion. Don't like it then simply just scroll past. No need to belittle their opinions.

I do value camera phones alot ( I'm obsessed with the iPhone 11 cameras). Having said that, 80 percent of what I do on my phones do not involve the camera. Yet people aren't even talking about other aspects of the phone. Is it fast or laggy? Any changes in software features? Battery life? How's the color representation? Does it feel premium? How do the speakers sound?

Enough with the camera already. We get it.

So 80% of what you do doesn't involve the camera yet you are obsessed with IP11 cameras? 80% of what YOU do.. Not everyone else. People can have their own opinion and they will talk about it as much as they want.

Did you even read what I wrote, or are you just being defensive? I started out saying how much I love phone cameras. And yes, they are important. But also yes, 80 percent of what I do on my phone is work.

Try a little more comprehension next time. What I gave was my opinion.

HECK NO!!! I love my Ultra! FAR better than the S10+ I had in every way! I feel so sad for all the frail, weak people who cannot possibly lift and hold this phone because it is "so heavy". Oh the inhumanity! Please don't procreate cause those babies gain weight over time and you can't send them back. The cameras are AMAZING! The zoom capabilities on this thing are simply ridiculous and the 5G is blazing fast (in my area)! The battery lasts over a day and I am using 120Hz refresh rate. I seriously need to stop reading reviews on this phone as they are pathetic. The other big gripe is the price. If you can't afford a Ferrari, buy a Corolla. DUH! I got $600 from Samsung on my trade in and another $235 in freebies (extra $35 as I reserved) so got this beast for a little over $800. WHOEVER pays full price for a phone these days is nuts. You can keep your lame Pixel and I hate apple products so unless I go with One+ or Moto I guess Sammy is my weapon of choice. Done with this thread.

I'll be returning mine *** well. I'm happy with the Z Flip right now cause it's something different. I'll wait and see what the next Note will be like.

Completely agree.

One Plus cameras are way worse, but you don't see many complaints. Yes it cost less, but let's be honest with most people using trades it's likely they paid close to the same for both phones. I'm convinced that even if the update that some are hoping "improves" their complaints about the camera it will be more complaints about something different pertaining to the camera.

A lot of people like to capture moments with the best possible still photography and video filming with the device that they always have with them and when one of the major selling points is the camera and the prices keep climbing astronomically then throwing all the hype on top of it and not having it deliver as expected I think all the talk about the camera performance is well warranted when a lot of people are upgrading for mainly a camera upgrade, me being one of them.

If the camera isn't making the cut, the rest of the good about it doesn't matter. As of now the video filming looks worse than my S10 (looks like low bit rate and low jittery/Skippy looking framerate). I wish more people would complain then that would give them more incentive to try to fix it faster. If it's not performing on par with my S10 in the main area I care most about, then what's the point in spending the money, even with the trade in and free stuff.

How is the screen quality and size on the Z Flip compared to the Ultra? I tried to track one down but couldn't find one to touch. I found the screen quality on the Fold to be a significant step back from the Note 10 plus and it bothered me enough to switch back. It lacked the sharpness of the Note. As to size, I see it's 6.7 inches but the ratio looks even longer than the Ultra. I don't want to go backwards in screen size. That said, I would definitely consider the flip if the screen size was the same as the 10 plus as I agree it's more interesting than the Ultra.

One Plus gets a lot of passes b/c the value to cost ratio is better. Plus they pretty much serve completely different demographics when it comes to the general consumer. The person that's looking at a One Plus isn't generally gonna be the same person looking at a $1400 Ultra unless they are an enthusiast. The issue I have with the Ultra isn't the price in and of itself, but the value to cost ratio. It doesn't offer enough for it to be so expensive. Now that's something that each person has to decide.
