Any takers on the Pixel?

Ordered a Black 128GB XL...I'm coming from an iPhone so I'm used to the price gouging. ;)

Seriously though, the unlimited full res Google Photos softens the blow as it'll save me $240 over two years.

I just bought my LG G5. If something happened with it or I decided it wasn't for me, I would consider the Pixel.

I'm willing to give it a shot. I love my Z5 Compact though. The only thing I don't like about this phone is the fingerprint scanner. One it sucks, works 40-50% of the time, and 2, it's on one side making it only good for using with the right hand. I was spoiled by the Nexus 6P's scanner. So fast, accurate, no clicking, it worked like "magic" , as Apple's Jony Ive would say.

Same here. The 6P is still a good phone a year later, there's not much of a reason to switch especially when the price is so high

It is the opinion of the majority of Android users that Samsung makes the best Android smartphones. That is a fact. Reviews show that Samsung has the highest rated smartphones. Sales show they're number one too. They're fast phones with the best cameras, best displays, best features, and top of the line hardware and build quality. They're basically bad at nothing, which pretty much no other hardware manufacturer can say.

"That is a fact."

This is very contradictory.

I'm confident in the build quality of the phone coming from HTC. I just wish they had included SD expansion although not a deal breaker and water resistant considering the price ranges. I'm very curious to know how the overall user experience will be on the phone. I'd love to have one.

On another note, am I the only one that thought the back glass panel would serve some purpose? Is it just for aesthetics?

I really like most of everything I've seen on this phone...except for one thing.

The bezels are rather large and since they don't house capacitive function buttons like the HTC 10 and Galaxy phones, you end up loosing quite a bit of screen real estate. I like 5"-ish phones, but in this case the function buttons and the dock all eat up a lot of real estate on the screen. Too much in my eyes..

Yesterday, I was 100% set on a Pixel, but now that we've seen official images, the screen real estate issue has me seriously thinking about an unlocked HTC 10. The fact HTC has knocked $150 off the price of the 10 now makes it $100 cheaper than a Pixel weighs things even further towards the 10.

Personally I prefer hardware keys over the soft keys. I also prefer the fingerprint scanner/home button on the front of the phone so I can easily unlock it while it's on my desk. I do miss the pure Android experience out of the box - but hey there's always root. For those reasons, and the price, I'll be waiting until the Galaxy S8.

Seriously! I don't understand how more people don't have this use case. Having the fingerprint sensor on the back just makes no god damn sense. You interact with the touchscreen primarily with your thumb/index finger, one of which will always be readily available to use a front facing fingerprint sensor whenever you actually want to use the phone!

It's not even a matter of preference, having the fingerprint sensor on the back is the less effective solution, it covers less use cases.

Don't even get me started on soft keys.

It actually is a matter of preference. Many prefer the FPS on the back because it's easier to use when holding the phone. IMO, even a side FPS feels more intuitive than the awkward front FPS. I also prefer soft keys since they're much more customizable than physical capacitive keys.

Huh? Once you've unlocked the phone (something you do while simultaneously picking it up) ... Why would you still be using the FPS?

Keep in mind, the FPS is only used for unlocking the phone and providing authentication for a few apps; with the FPS on the front you can actually interact with your phone while it's on a table. I'm also not convinced that having a FPS on the back actually makes it's easier to use.

Moto X had a dimple on the back (where most back FPS are) that made the phone more secure to hold, but that is a completely different thing than saying it makes the FPS easier to use.

I'm not getting these phones for the same principles for why I didn't get the first couple of Nexus devices. For the record, I've been exclusive to Nexus since the Nexus 4. It's going to take a couple iterations for google the Pixel right. At this point, I'm just frustrated that I waited out to get this phone when I could've gotten something else a while ago. I just ordered an international (it has all the bands) version of the silver galaxy s7 edge for $600 tax free on Amazon, minus 5% cash back for using my amazon card. No way I'm paying $650 plus tax for a pixel. There was no point in google building a phone from scratch if they weren't going to give it any exclusive hardware features. It basically amounts to a nice screen and camera, not much else. Google assistant will get ported to other android phones, it'd be silly for them not to. They're going to have to when they see how slowly the pixel sells.

People have different preferences. I don't spend that much time interacting with my phone while it's on a desk or table. From my personal experience the back FPS is easier to use since the index finger is naturally near the FPS when holding the phone. Trying to use a front FPS when removing the phone from a pocket is awkward and less intuitive than using back or side FPS.

Price is a factor, I didn't wait for the Nexus 6 to be more affordable but still went for it.

I have a Moto X Style and it is just a little too big for me. I think the 5" would be the perfect size for me!

Who has already decided on getting the smaller form factor? I know I am. Can't wait for the announcement.

I'm really interested. Having owned many nexus phones along side iPhones, I've always wished for nexus with iPhone quality build. Hope this phone delivers hardware and software wise.

Personally, I prefer the FPS on the front. I seem to spend a lot of time in the car and my phone sits on a magnetic vent mount. If it goes to sleep, I can easily access the FPS on the front. Not so much so if it's on the rear.

It usually comes from Nexus put it in the back and Nexus is perfect from the Nexus elitists.

I prefer it on the front for practicality.

I'm really digging the pixel XL, but the pricing surprised me. It's almost at an iPhone level, and now there's a void in the nexus market. This is a high-end flagship for sure, but what about lower price ranges?

I think high pricing will showcase to general public it's a flagship phone that competes with iPhone. Wish it was cheaper but they know how people will compare.
