I can tell you this, HD voice is not near as good on iphone 7 plus compared to the Pixel. The Note 7 HD voice was even better than both of them. It was insane clear.

He explained the Pixel fits his needs more -- so therefore it isn't a downgrade for him.
That must vary per carrier. HD voice sounds excellent for me on T-Mobile just as it did with my previous iPhones, Galaxies, and Note devices using T-Mobile.
So take the hardware out of the picture, sure, the Pixel is a great phone. But hardware-wise, it's a huge downgrade.
The reception on the Pixel is worse, OP. There's a whole 26-page thread about it here: http://forums.androidcentral.com/go...ixel-signal-dropping-update-google-knows.html
Why would you do that? The design and functionality of the iPhone 7 Plus is so much better than the Pixel/Pixel XL.
You're downgrading and I don't understand why.
I was playing with iPhone 7 Plus from Apple Store and making comparison with my Pixel. I must say that I am learning that iPhone seems slower in terms of browsing and scrolling through websites. While the Pixel seems more fluid and so snappy scrolling. A friend of mine who own a 7 plus was amazed about my pixel being so snappy. That was his wording as well.
My device was a Moto Z Play, I got an iPhone 7 Plus but only had it for a week. While I liked the hardware, software was lacking for me. I didn't like the notification system on iOS, or how bluetooth works on iPhone. If i'm playing music through bluetooth, I can't snapchat or use soundhound because it'll switch the audio to the iPhone and then back to the speaker or whatever was using bluetooth. I hate that. I wasn't too impressed by the camera actually. I had the S7 Edge before my Z play so I didn't really think it was all that great, but it is good. I been using the Pixel for a few days now, and honestly software does not fly on it. Idk what it is, but i been a bit let down with the talk of software on it. I feel like my Z Play runs better since I haven't had any lag on that compared to the Pixel. Don't get me wrong, The Pixel is still a smooth machine, but the Z Play is better from the time I have used the Pixel. Camera is fantastic, I think it's cool how you can do Lens Blur with the front facing camera, and night time shots are great. The fingerprint sensor on the Pixel is slow, I have to almost push the nonexistant button for it to read my finger when I unlock the phone. The Z Play's fingerprint sensor is miles better since I barely have to set my finger before it unlocks the phone. Maybe I got a defective Pixel? , but I'm feeling like i'm gong to return it within my 14 days especially since battery life is terrible on it. I'm getting about 3 SOT and not really using it much.
This has been the general sentiment I have noticed as well, after using both extensively, and especially being in a workplace that is largely split between Apple/Android (plenty of samples available). In day-to-day operation the Pixel is undoubtedly the snappier more fluid phone with no stutters or hang-ups, even while scrolling. They simply do a better job marrying the software with the hardware it would seem. Add to that a much better screen, vastly superior notification system, quick charging (how does the iPhone still not have this?), better battery life, and much better camera and it makes quite a nice package.
Yes I had the 7 plus twice and while its web browsing and app opening time might be a little better than the pixel, it falls short for me. The reason I always went back to an iPhone over the years was the fact that whatever Android phone I used(every flagship) was unable to match the iphone's level of fluidity and smoothness. That is no longer the case now that we have the Pixel. It's much more fluid to use than the 7+. The iPhone drops frames, stutters while scrolling and is janky in a lot of apps. This was running the latest 10.2 version of iOS. Pixel is a better performing device. Only thing I miss is iMessage.
Well I got my Pixel XL and it's awesome! Setup was easy though it took about two hours to get everything done. Can't wait to go through a full day tomorrow!
I came from.iphone 7 plus...

I'm glad I'm not the only one noticing the slowness of iOS 10 on the 7 plus.I came from.iphone 7 plus...
