Anyone going to upgrade from the S20 Ultra to the Note Ultra?

Who knows what they'll do. Even if it's a nice credit towards the watch I might jump on the pre-order. We'll see. Every release I tell myself I don't need to pre-order but always end up doing it.

It's nearly certain that they'll offer something. Right now I'm looking at a stack of six 10,000 mAh wireless (and wire-capable) charging slabs. I got three with last year's purchase and three with this spring's S20 Ultra. These things earn their pay when I'm fishing on the New Jersey shore. They're very handy.

Got my email for a reservation. The big question for me is the trade in value. I assume even an Ultra won't go higher than 700.

That would be quite a haircut to take, even more so that it seems in some ways it's a step back.

Don't get me wrong benjamminh its your choice if you like to upgrade to the Note series from s20 or usually hold off until the next S series, i held off the S series this time around as I like Notes more so it will come down to if you think its worth it . Its a fair trade in price if your thinking about it though.

Well for comparison, it looks like s20 ultras are still bringing 800 plus on swappa but there aren't a ton of transactions. Under samsungs buyback program, they will give you 50 percent after 2 years i believe so 700 after 6 months would be a bummer. Those of us who grabbed an S20 at launch don't qualify for the buyback.

But a lot of people cashed in on at least 500-700 trade in value so for a huge amount of us we only paid 900 or less(in my case much less) for our Ultras. I'm more curious in the trade in pricing for the note 10's because I'm sure it will rival the ultra pricing which would be a great deal in itself.

True. I only paid about 650 after trade on my ultra. Then is ordered a galaxy watch with the credit and sold that. So I suppose if you do the math that way it may not be that bad. I think samsung almost have to offer more on trade for the ultra than the note 10 plus but we shall see. I find the samgung store credit to be almost worthless although the new earbuds look promising. You guys are talking me into it....

Trade in should be at least as good as buy back because the Ultra isn't that old.

OP, if the S Pen is important to you, why did you buy an S20 Ultra instead of a Note 10/10+ ?

Good question. I upgraded from the Note because I was interested in the larger screen, higher refresh rate and improved camera. I could go either way on the S Pen. The Ultra is a beast but it's specs are better than the phone itself. The refresh rate is a battery killer and the camera is frustrating to use. Hopefully Samsung creates a better integrated package this time around. I was very close to just keeping the Note 10 Ultra as there are definitely aspects i prefer to the Ultra.

So maybe you can sell your S20 Ultra and use that money towards a decent used Note 10+ and still have some cash leftover?

I mean personally I've always found the S20 line unnecessary. The S10 and Note 10 lines were more than good enough to keep around until 2021, imo.
