Anyone have any suggestions how I can get my hands on an Evo?

After being unable to secure a replacement for my Palm Pre from Sprint on line I took the site's suggestion and secured one the next day from my local Sprint vendor. No wait!

Just got off the phone with Art, ordered my EVO. Very respectful, even saved me some money, helped me switch plans, not using unlimited minutes. Lowered my minutes a month and saved me some money. Great guy. Will let everyone know when it comes in.

SO, ya'll don't even wanna know the issues I have been having getting an EVO. I have been an AT&T customer for about 2 years, and after so many terrible customer service experiences and completely ludacrous billing practices, I decided to switch to sprint. A couple weeks back I went to my local sprint store in the NYC suburbs and they said if I were to put down a 50$ deposit I would be put on a list that would guarantee I would recieve the phone on thier next shipment. They told me one date, then it got pushed back, then it got pushed back again, and then today I was told "we have no idea when it will be coming in".

Being that I am already ahead of the game and have purchased and already recieved the Innoceel 3500 mAh battery, screen protector and case, the though of waiting god knows how long for my new phone was not enthralling to me, (especially since i am leaving ATT beofre my contract is up and def dont wanna pay another 107$ bill). After reading all of your good stories, I called Arthur today and I can say I feel so much better. He took care of me lickity split, and I can now breathe a sigh of relief that my phone will hopefully be activated and ported prior to my ATT billing date on the 19th. Of course I'll feel alot better when i actually have the tracking number in hand but Arthur was really the greatest, he indulged all my fearful and non-believer like questions, and I feel confident that I can now be excited for my new EVO's arrival.
 
Read this thread yesterday and left a message for Art. He called me back and was able to pull up my info and let me know that I'm not due to an upgrade until 9/1. He said he'll give me a call back on 9/1 and we'll get my EVO ordered and charge it to my sprint bill.
 
Does he do this for existing customers only? I'd love to give him a call if he works with new activations as well!

Hey donna,

I'm very much liking my evo....I'm coming from a HTC hero that was running slow and when I got the evo well it changed my life lol....its fast....and so far its great I can't complain.
 
Good to hear, now I guess its a big waiting game for me....as it has been...

I spoke with Arthur earlier today. Great guy and got my order in for an Evo.

I love My EVO!!!!!!!!!!

Donna I love my Evo especially coming from a palm pre it blows the palm pre out of the water. The screen is very pleasing and clear. I liked webos on the pre but im never going back! Im glad people have listened to the suggestions to call Arthur he is awesome!

Thanks let me know when you receive your tracking info. That way I can guesstimate when I should receive mine. I am only a state over from where Arthur is located (not sure how much that matters), but hopefully it makes the shipping quicker =)
 
Got It

I ordered an Evo from Arthur on Tuesday evening. He provided me with a tracking number today, which noted that the phone should arrive on Monday (8/9). He seems totally legit to me. I'll confirm Monday once the Evo arrives.

Evo arrived yesterday on time. I swapped it out with my Pre online and it's working perfectly. Arthur is the real deal, give the man a call...NOW :)

I too just ordered from Art. Very helpful and hopefully I'll have a new EVO in about 3-5 business days.
 
I got my Evo about a week and a half ago. For about 2 weeks in a row prior, I called every Best Buy, Radio Shack, and Sprint store within 20 miles everyday and all were sold out. I checked online religiously too.

I was just browsing through the mall with my gf after work, and just happened to walk into the Best Buy Mobile store. The guy who worked there asked if I needed anything, and I go "yeah you got any Evo's"(I'm fully expecting yet ANOTHER negative reply). To my surprise, he said he had 2 left...i was almost shocked I finally found one. Anyways, to make a long story short, I said goodbye to my blackberry and Tmobile and hello to my new Evo.

Any of you guys who have Best Buy Mobile dealers in your malls, check them out. The guy I talked to said they get fairly regular shipments and not nearly as many people look for the Evos there.
 
Art doesn't seem so be answering his phone today. Not surprised. He has probably been swamped with calls by now. I have left him a message, but I don't have too much hope left on getting an EVO anytime this month.
