I went in for my exchange today. The FM radio is not working correctly. The tech at the store confirmed and assured me (along with the customer service rep on the phone prior to going to the store) that I would be getting a new one in exchange.
Well, after it was all set up to be sent, I received an email.."how to activate your certified like new phone". Called up customer service, she explains thats not correct and that I should get a new phone. She calls the store where the tech set up the exchange to be shipped, they are out of stock with no known date of phones arriving. I can either take the shipped "certified like new phone" or refuse it and get on a waiting list from the store when they get new ones in..I decide I'll refuse the shipment and wait for a new one from the store.
So I call up the store to get on the waiting list for when phones get shipped to the store. The store manager tells me don't refuse the shipment, as they apparently wont get any new phones in till JUNE. She tells me there are no certified like new phones yet, the phone is too new for that.
So I call back VZW customer service again, get another woman..tell her the story thus far...She agrees with the store manager that the phone that's already on its way to me will be new, even though it shows in their system that a certified like new phone is being shipped to me.
So, I guess I'll know by Wednesday at the latest just what will come in the mail. I didnt think there would be refurbs yet, but it shows in their system that thats whats being sent to me.
if it's refurbished there should be a sticker or marking stating so (usually where the ESN sticker is located)

Yeah, I wouldn't count on that. I traded my pearl in a ton of times (manufacturing defect where the glue was bad on the screen and after a few months it looked like water was seeping in) and in the beginning they'd give me what I thought was new at the store, but then I started getting them shipped to me and they were def refurb (although they look brand spankin; I think they put a new case on the inner components) and they had no markings whatsoever about it being refurb/remanufactured/reconditioned. But they also come with no battery, no cables, etc. so it's kind of a no-brainer.
I'd say if it's in the original Incredible box, you have a decent chance of it being new, but if it's in bubble wrap, it's def a refurb. But can you even tell? And if you can't tell, does it even matter?
Yes and no IMO. If it looks flawless and runs flawless, then I agree..What does it really matter? However, I don't appreciate the fake claims. If your within 30 days of your purchase, and something goes wrong..vzw states you get a new phone. For the price we are all paying for phones and monthly contracts, please practice what you preach Verizon.
I'm not sure what to do. I could be a meticulous consumer and demand they stand by their word..OR, I could keep the brown-boxed, bubble-wrapped replacement phone they sent me that seems to look and play flawless (so far) and hope all goes well. Suggestions?..??
*EDIT* Not flawless, same problem as original phone. FM radio still just doesn't seem to want to work right.
i'm having the same problem with my phone! i went in store and they were absolutely no help. they said i need to call in to get a replacement phone but that i'd have to send in my phone first before i can receive another...and on top of that, said verizon might not even have any in stock so there is a possibility of not getting a new one for awhile. did you have problems with that?
Who should I call and just state my problems and ask for a new phone?
Yeah Ima call and ask for a new one and my screen is also scratched so I think its good to call. Lol
