Anyone switching back to iPhone?

Re: Anyone switching back to Iphone?

Switched from iPhone 4. Note 3 is mostly ok. Widgets are great (having 3 audio app widgets you touch to play, stop, skip on one homepage.) But so many little annoyances frustrate you every day, makes you ask, didn't anyone test this for real life use? Contrast this to the little moments of delight when you marvel at the attention to detail, the anticipation of what a real life user would want to do. I'll have to make the best of it until I can switch back to an iPhone.

Re: Anyone switching back to Iphone?

"Why itunes?". Because I have somewhere north of 7000 albums in FLAC format which Apple refuse to deal with. Also, I prefer the simplicity of drag and drop over the naffness of iTunes. Possessing an Apple device is more akin to renting a house rather than owning one. I do like Apple when they do what they do best. My Mac mini is fantastic. A PC which has USB3 built-in, another reason for my opting for the Note 3.

What little annoyances are you talking about exactly? I use mine for real life and it works wonderfully and is an incredible device.

Re: Anyone switching back to Iphone?

Ignorant? I've never been called that but ok!

My point is people purchase stolen phones to use them in other countries like Mexico... They clone the ESN or whatever and if u are not careful u will end up with an expensive paper weight. I speak from experience... u get what u pay for!

And sure u can purchase an iPhone 5 for 300 bucks on craigslist, but do not expect it to be in good condition!

My experience with craigslist is if the phone is in mint condition then that's the first thing u advertise... especially with pictures. If someone says that theres scratches or dings from normal ware and tear then don't even bother! I've had many phones and most were sold on craigslist or eBay... none of them were scratched up or dinged unless I dropped it or mishandled them. I'm not looking to buy a device that's been abused and I'm sure u wouldn't either.

I've used craigslist for MANY phone purchases and have never had a problem and just because they don't post pictures doesn't mean the phones are junk. You do realize they can clone the ESN in Florida, just like they can here in Texas, right??? I could purchase a good condition iPhone 5 for $250-$300 on CL, if I wanted, but I don't.

You are missing the point! But since you're a fan boy there's no sense in reasoning with you.
Plus, this thread wasn't intended for us to debate over the risk of purchasing on Craig's list. Don't be so sensitive over someone's opinion... it's not a good look.

Missing what point? Fan boy of what exactly? I'm not sensitive over anyone's opinion. I posted proof that you could buy iPhones that cheap and you were the sensitive one.

Re: Anyone switching back to Iphone?

I for one could care less about games. The only one I play is Words. The Note 3 gives me so many things the iPhone can't, that it isn't even funny. The ONLY think the iPhone has going for it is that its well made and it has a large well developed ecosystem. Fine. Android has also grown very large even if not quite as big as Apple. Still, I find the iPhone (however well made) the most boring phone out there. I like to customize my phone and make it my own. I want to be able to play with things constantly and especially when I get bored. The iPhone is for people who simply want to pick up their phone and use it. It isn't for the tinkerer, creative thinker or perpetually bored. Oh and NOTHING comes close to the S Pen. I know some people probably don't use theirs much but it is one of the main reasons I got the N3 so I make a point of learning everything it can do so I can utilize it whenever possible. Until such time as the iPhone gets bigger (to darn small for me) and also until Apple gets back to "wowing" us, I will never consider going over to them. I did once and quickly grew tired of it. It was reliable but I need and demand more. I want to get things done AND be entertained. HELLO Note 3!!

Re: Anyone switching back to Iphone?

I'm a little late to this thread but I can't imagine switching back to an iPhone. Besides the awesome screen of the Note 3, it is also so much more customizable. Apples ios is excellent and very user friendly but you can only use it one way, Apple's way

I switched from iPhone 5 a few months ago to a note 3 and one of the best decisions I've ever made.

Therein lies the deal with having an Android phone. It is NOT a closed system like Apple and Windows phones. You get all manner of app in there so you have to work a little harder to ensure your phone works well and you don't get crappy apps. There is a trade-off for every operating system. Yes, the iPhone apps are probably more reliable (generally speaking) but the phone is extremely tied down. For some, that's what they need and for others, it's almost blasphemy. The good thing for being Android however, is you get literally a ton of different phones to choose from along with the additional flavor the manufacturers add. Some you'll like and some you'll hate but the point is, you have CHOICES. If all of this annoys you, then by all means go to iPhone and be happy in the knowledge that you will never have to worry about choosing your own backgrounds and widgets and the like and that your phone will ALWAYS look the same. Otherwise, go to Android where you are expected to exercise due diligance when installing apps but where you are richly rewarded with amazing devices with an unlimited potential to customize.

You will have seen headlines like this yesterday. Sorry about the cheapo quality.

Apple again with massive margins/twice the profit, 60%ish market share and lower unit sales with equal sales revenue. Are you really getting the quality and value for a lot of money compared to Samsung?

I know Google/Nexus and Moto give you much more bang for your bucks again, but this is between the big two.

Old story but ir may help here.
I will leave this discussion before my math is found seriously wanting.

Re: Anyone switching back to Iphone?

Everyone always seems to get disappointed waiting for Apple to "wow" us again and then seeing the same old thing. The rumors I've heard lately is that the 6 will be pretty much more of the same and that Apple may be coming out with a separate phablet line to compete with all these popular ones that are out. Whatever. As for the app store, I don't get that. Yes, I imagine there are some things that still aren't in Android's app store (namely games) but for me, I have more than enough apps to keep me happy and I don't really care about games. I'm not that excited about trying to play a game on a cell phone anyway (same with browsing the internet). I play Words With Friends but that lends itself to most any size screen. I care more about productivity and how my phone can make my life easier. The Note line continues to do that in spades and rarely disappoints me. The large size allows me to do spreadsheets and other things that are much easier to do on a larger screen. The iPhone, aside from just working well, offers me pretty much nothing that I can't get on any other smart phone as far as functionality. Sure it's pretty, works great, has zillions of apps and just as many peripherals but Android isn't that far behind and you have MANY more phones to choose from. The Note does so much more for me and it allows me to not only customize it but it also provides me with MANY things to discover. The iPhone is just the same thing update after update. They change the look of the icons, give you a few more bells and whistles but basically the same stuff. With my Note, I can't wait for the 4 to come out to see what new functionality I might get out of the S Pen which by itself is the single greatest reason for getting it over some other phablet. Ok. I'm done ranting. Continue on....

Really great comments. You're singing my song.
I wish I secretly worked for Samsung Marketing. You'd be hired at any cost.

We are not idolising Samsung per se, but they do fit into your life better.

Rant again!

Edit: See you had previous form with earlier post/s. I had read that one a while ago. Can't read everything! :))

Well, lets be fair now. The iPhone is a good smart phone for those people who either cannot figure out more complicated phones or for that other group of people who are technically proficient but who only care about the phone and the apps working and nothing else. For these two groups, the iPhone is probably the best choice. These people do not get bored by simplicity and care only that it works. The fact that it looks the same year after year is of no consequence either. I have no problem with that. It's the people who get them simply because it's the cool thing and everyone has one that bothers me. Those people don't even do a fraction of what the phone can do or know how to.

Anyone switching back to Iphone?

I switched back to iOS and am quite happy. I enjoy both iOS and Android and I'm sure I'll come back to Android at some point but I really am enjoying my new 5s, rMini, and iPad Air. All 3 are jailbroken so I have all the customization, widget, etc. that I wan't (jailbreaking these things is stupendously simple, done almost telepathically and to great effect...opening up an expansive world of customization). Being versed in both iOS and Android I find that I do tend to prefer the iOS versions of apps. To my simple eyes they seem to have a little more "polish" or whatever you want to call it. I've have a fair amount of money invested in both app ecosystems so it's always nice to be able to move between the two and know my important apps will be there. I can now FaceTime my family easily (for me, it works better than Skype, etc.) and with the app PenUltimate I haven't lost any capability THAT I USED on the Samsung Notes, while offering much better synching between ANY smartphone that supports Evernote.

I won't say either is better but both Android and iOS are durned good. I'm glad that I'm able to enjoy both. I'll likely be getting a Nexus 5 or G2 in the next few months for my 2nd line and it'll be fun to keep up with both.

I like to tinker and customize like any seasoned Android fan and there is SO much potential with the iPhone once it is jailbroken (again, I say jailbroken with almost telepathic ease to highlight just how easy it is to customize these iOS devices). I can't think of anything I did on my phones to customize that I can't do on my jailbroken iDevices, with the exception with direct ROM replacement like CM or SlimBeans. ...fonts, widgets, themes, lockscreen dohickeys, aranging icons/folders, statusbar tweaks...just lots of twidgets to keep just about any tinkerer entertained.

Now, to be fair, moving from a a 5" screen to the 4" screen certainly didn't go unnoticed but I do appreciate the one-handability of the iPhone. ...and I have a rHetina Mini and iPad Air for when I want a larger screen so no loss FOR ME there (I gave my GPad 8.3 to my 4-year-old and he likes it almost as much as his old iPad).

Just my experiences.
