App optimisation after updating

Well then the pop up issue is a Rogers thing most likely. You should try Heads Off in the Play Store. It also stops pop up notifications, see if it stops that notification.

I have no problems with the pop up, I'm fine...I think the other guy doesn't want them.

I have an unlocked international device. I get notifications on my lock screen but not pop ups

Oh.. When you quoted the post I thought that was what you were talking about.

Do you have the pop up?

For those of you with notification issues, long press the notification when it pops untill you get a menu that allows you to block the notification. A little radical though but that's the only way I know.

T-mobile version also getting the notification, I think it show when it change a app optimizing setting.
So if I put a app to always optimizing instead of auto what will it do?

I haven't gotten one notification with the app optimization.

My recent Galaxy S4 has just got this update. Does anyone have a definitive explanation of what this does? What does Automatically optimising mean? What does Always Power Saving mean exactly? I can guess but I would rather know the detail.

Anyone else find some app notifications not always working after this? Those specific apps I've set to Disabled For but still not coming through...

AFAIK...
automatically optimizing = the app will be prevented to run in the background if not used for x amount of days. you can set x to 3,5,7 in
Code:
more - select auto optimise delay
always power saving = the app will always be prevented to run in the background (so you close an app and it stays closed until next time you open it) useful for apps you only need to run when you want them to
disabled for = the app will always be allowed to run in the background (useful for weather apps or apps that you need running all the time)

No, that isn't how it works. I talked to a supervisor in Level 3 Tech Support at Samsung the day TMO got this update. I had him explain to me exactly how it works. I did a thread on what he explained to me.

well your post does not really explain how it works
anyway that's how I see it work for me
until we can find an official explanation from samsung we can only guess

Is there a way of turning off the notification for this? I really don't need to see it pop up everyday to tell me that it's doing it's job. Which is to put apps to sleep and, ironically, so I don't see their annoying notifications.

Precisely. Same thing on my Galaxy Tab S2.

The notification Smart Manager pops up actually looks more like a reminder to enable battery optimization. So I enabled it. However, even after I enabled it, Smart Manager continues to push that very same notification once a day. Sometimes it skips a day, but on average it is once a day.

This is a bug in the app. It has to be fixed.

Battery life has improved a lot due to this optimization feature. Can't wait for Doze.

You can download Doze from the Play Store now...I`ve been using it for about 3 weeks now,it`s pretty good.

try setting the optimisation for all apps in smart manager to be either enabled or disabled. that should stop the notifications.

I'm talking about the Google OS version not the 3rd party app

I wonder if this app optimisation is what is preventing Google Keep from synchronising?
If I fiddle about with the members in my Keep (S4, Galaxy Tab S2, Windows PC) then they suddenly catch up, which might be one or other of the Android apps springing back to life.
