Are you going to switch to the S7 Edge from the 6P?

Nope, I'm not going to switch . Loving my 6p to much to go for the S7 :)

Yep... I have zero desire to drop my 6P for any of the S7's.... I don't see it as giving me any useful upgrade in functionality that would warrant a switch. I've never been one to use SD cards on phones that I've owned that had them... the camera might be better, but after a recent Disney vacation where the 6P totally killed it, I have no complaints in that area... I get stellar battery performance, it's smooth, stable.... yeah, the S7's not even on my radar.

Now, my wife and her G4, on the other hand, might be a different story. I'm debating either a G5 or S7/Edge to replace... so I am watching things closely. To her, smartphones are appliances.. means to an end.

No never. I wont switch. i dont want to be that guy who from a year from now complain in S7 forum about how I am still waiting to get Android N on my S7

I don't think I can switch away from a Nexus anytime soon, especially to a carrier-branded phone, so I'll be keeping my Nexus 6P, at least until this year's nexus. My wife, on the other hand, has a Nexus 5x, and has had tons of issues with the camera being super laggy and sometimes not saving photos. I traded in her Moto X 2014 for the 5x because the Moto X's camera had pretty terrible photo quality, and camera is the most important feature of the phone to her. She could care less about having quick software updates or verizon bloatware, so the GS7 seems like an ideal phone for her.

Re: Switch to S7 Edge?

If wishes were horses. Samsung will never deliver a bloatware free phone, they see their crapware as a feature not a bug. They built one Nexus phone, the Galaxy Nexus, and they made a complete hash of it. Nexus phones are supposed to get several years of support, the GN got less than a year.

There is a reason that manufacturers are so slow about rolling out the latest software, they are much more afraid of breaking things then they are about running obsolete software. Most of their customers don't know the software is out of date, but if something breaks they will notice that. If most people cared about the latest software then Nexus wouldn't have a 1% market share. As a Nexus user I'm actually happy that it isn't more popular, by limiting the customer user base to the people who want bleading edge software it's possible for Google to be more aggressive then they would be the user base included more unsophisticated users. From Samsung's point of view they are happy that Google can use the Nexus as a beta platform which means that by the time they roll out a new version of Android it's already been tested for nearly a year.

A couple of corrections: Samsung has made two Nexus phones: the Nexus S and the Galaxy Nexus. Also, the Galaxy Nexus got just under 2 years of updates; support was discontinued because the company that made the chipset Samsung used in the Galaxy Nexus quit making the chips, which meant Google could no longer get hardware support when it had issues trying to create new software builds. That was likely unforeseeable for Samsung, not to mention Google could have overruled the use of that chipset.

The GSM version of the Galaxy Nexus seemed fairly solid, though like most early Nexus phones it could have used a larger battery and more memory. It also suffered by not having LTE. The CDMA version of the Nexus seemed to have numerous issues; it seems to have been built more as an afterthought and, worse, was compromised by carrier demands (such as bloatware), though at least it had LTE.

While I'd personally prefer Google to make their own Nexus (much as Apple makes the iPhone), as it is rumored they will; another Samsung Nexus would likely be a great phone. My one concern would be if Samsung would make them inexpensively enough for Google to keep the prices low, such as they are on the 6P and 5X.

Seems like kind of an apples vs. oranges kind of question unless the S7's going to sprout front-facing speakers soon.

I'm not "switching" to the s7 edge but I'm doing the jump on demand from my Note 5.
I love the 6p but swap sim cards when I feel. Still prefer Galaxy camera's over Nexus even though not a deal breaker anymore. But now w the 3600 battery and other improvements I felt "why not"... I really never use the s-pen.

Base on my history, even if I say no once it comes out I'll end up buying it. Not necessarily because it the greatest but the latest. :)

When I signed up for Samsung's Test Drive and got the Note 5, I put away my nexus 6P but after a few weeks I couldn't take it and went back. I'll admit I missed the MultiWindow but then again I have my 64GB iPad mini 4 LTE.

I think the reason I would get the S7 edge is because Samsung made it Water Proof again, it's one of the reasons for the first time I love the Galaxy S series (always been a Note fan) and the S5, of course they ruined it with the S6/Note 5.

No, I just got the Nexus 6p when it came out. I love it so far. It is still fast and has the latest security updates and such. However i am really impressed with the s7 Edge. The bigger battery, water proof, and the SD card seems real nice. I am wondering how touch wiz has evolved since the Galaxy s2 (lol yeah that long ago). I do hear it is better and faster. I am not even sure I am going to get the next Nexus phone. I might wait for the S8 and see what thats like. If it checks the right boxes then I buy.

TouchWiz much much better since S6. I have Galaxy Tab S2 and that Sucker screams and no lag. Samsung doing the right things with TouchWiz. Not as bad anymore IMHO

I have extra cash lying around so I may get an s7 edge and swap sims occasionally to get some TouchWiz and some bloat. Big batt and SD slot sounds guud. 😄

I had the CDMA version, it only got a year of support. I had to use third party ROMs (mostly Cyanogen) to keep it up to date. It wasn't particularly stable with the third party ROMs.

The 6P is my first Nexus - I've had Motorola and Samsung previously, still have an S5 that I use when I travel internationally for work since they pay for calls and data.

With the Nexus experience I am currently enjoying, I can't see myself going to a carrier's phone again, especially Samsung. Even when a manufacturer has a light tough on the Android OS (Motorola for example) the carrier's fingerprints all over the software muck it up for me. Then, there is the interminable wait for updated software.....

I still wish for a removeable battery, LG is the last hold out with this feature, but as far down the line as I can see, I'll be sticking with Nexus.

No.I`ve just come from the S6 and am mightily impressed by my 6P.Just a clean lag free Android experience, great battery, great camera, better radio and wifi and no bloatware...can`t ask for much more.

I'll say it. Yep, I ordered a silver one. If all else fails I offload the S7. The 6P is king in my house, but I like trying out new phones and tasting all of the flavors. It's my hobby, and it wouldn't be a hobby if I stayed in my castle tower with my 6P.

To be honest, I'm not looking forward to bloat, but I'll give it a shot again. S7 Edge beat out the LG G5 for me. I was deeply disappointed that LG went this weird way, especially after a very good experience with the V10. But I may give both a shot in the future.

I am very much like you in the same position. I love just about everything with my 6P but I did make the mistake of checking out the S7 Edge at BB and it is a stellar looking device. Camera on the 6P is very good but the camera on the S7E is simply outstanding. The slightly smaller form factor is also somewhat appealing. I have been spoiled by lag free, bloat free and timely updates with my 6P

I haven't made a final decision yet and I don't know if the added VR is enough to entice me but I have some time.

Nope. Prefer having great software over great hardware - nothing matches the Nexus in terms of Android updates plus the 6P is a great looking phone. To add to that I still get compliments from clients, coworkers and acquaintances regarding my gold Nexus 6P - most consumers don't even know what it is. Daily driver.

TEAM CHROME.

Actually, alongside the S7E, I may be picking up another 6P tomorrow. I'm just not good at this game.

It take courage to admit something is wrong lol. I would buy S7 Edge with no hesitation and flip flop between the two. Both great phones.

My sister and I were discussing the "hoarding tendencies" in my family recently. I am the phone junkie. I've been pretty good about buying a new phone and selling the old one, regardless of if I have the new phone for a few hours or a few months.

However, the 6P will be the first phone in two years I shall be keeping. That speaks a world of compliment to Huawei and Google.
