Are you going to switch to the S7 Edge from the 6P?

It take courage to admit something is wrong lol. I would buy S7 Edge with no hesitation and flip flop between the two. Both great phones.

Me too. I will have both, and a couple others, and torture myself trying to figure out which phone is the perfect one. None of them are perfect, but it is fun trying to get them there.

I'm a phone junkie. (my newest, 6P, delivered yesterday is my 55th phone in seven years). I had the S6 edge, didn't last two months. While the S7 looks pretty I just can't do TW. Plus being on Fi limits phone choice.

I am one to try and keep my phone for a typical two year cycle more or less. The problem over the past 10-12 years is that the phones themselves only last about 1.5 years. To answer your question though, no I'm not switching, and not just because it would be out of the norm for me timewise. Most reasons have been mentioned such as the nicety of having a Google phone, with no bloatware. Also, love the great speakers. Additionally, I'm using Project Fi, and I am resistant to going back to a big carrier.

I will however, throw my 2 cents in on the S7E. This is the first Samsung phone since S1 and S2 (back when they were the flagships) that I would even consider. It's pretty nice and if I hadn't been spoiled by my 6p, I would consider it. To be honest though, were it not for my Nexus, I am more intrigued by the LG G5. 2 TB of SD card; removable battery; center-placed fingerprint sensor; for some, like me, a more manageable size. That said, I'm happily staying with my Nexus.

I had the Galaxy S6 Edge and switched to the Nexus 6P. I have to say I've loved the software performance since the move. But i'm definitely guilty of considering going back to the Galaxy with the S7 Edge.

Why?

The camera. I've not exactly been blown away by the Nexus 6P camera. Both the iPhone I once owned and the S6 took richer pictures with better focus. Too many dim photos with slight movement has caused too much blur to happen. Google really should have gone with OIS. On top of this, HDR+ has significant delays processing the picture. After playing with the S7 Edge camera, I was literally blown away at the amazing speed the camera app loaded, the ridiculous speed the thing focused and how quickly you can snap pictures back-to-back. It's not even a contest.

Slow storage performance with encryption. Maybe this is why HDR processes so slowly as it's writing to the flash memory, but apps and pictures and anything that has to write to the storage is noticeably slow. Even loading large games with assets is significantly more delayed on the Nexus 6P

Just slightly too large. The Nexus 6P is just a tad too big for me. Mainly because of the bezels. The 5.5 with a better screen to phone ratio and a curved back seems like the sweet spot.

Of course the risks are Touchwiz causing significantly slowdown after a month of use. But crossing my fingers that 4GB of Ram and a Snapdragon 820 fixes those problems, as well as Samsung's claims to have worked with Google to optimize Touchwiz. The android updates are not a huge deal to me. Google's platform has matured and I don't know if we'll see major OS updates as a regular thing anymore.

I'll put the S7 Edge through it's paces and if it has the typical janky lag with animations and keyboard typing it's going back and i'll stick with the 6P.

I switched from the Edge Plus to the Nexus 6p and there is nothing I miss other than the screen and camera both of which are excellent on the 6p.

Vanilla flavoured Nexus 6p

If I didn't value timely monthly security patches and the latest OS then I would give it a thought. Then again the Note series would be my preferred Galaxy.

Nah. I've had a few galaxy phones before and this is my first nexus. Honestly I cant imagine wanting a phone other than a nexus again. I don't care for touch wiz. The only thing intriguing me about the s7 is the waterproof feature. But almost definitely not enough to sway me

While Note2 was a good phone to me for three years. I'm not going back to a carrier locked/bloatware filled phone ever. I'm really enjoying monthly updates, can't imagine any reason to give that up.

The desire for an S7 Edge still hasn't really gone away. I still want to wait until release or at least until some reviews are out to see if I'm really going to make the switch.

Only questionable thing I'm worried about is the fingerprint sensor. Love the sensor on my Nexus 6P and have read that the reliability on the S6/Note 5 has been hit or miss.

I am. Bigger battery, getting a free s2, water proofing, the camera, and sd card slot is enough to make me switch

I saw the S7 Edge at Best Buy the other day...that screen is definitely attention grabbing and of course it seemed to be quite smooth. But I've just been soured one to many times by Samsung, I don't think I could ever go back to a non-Nexus device unless I had no other choice.

Nope. Love this phone after only 3 days. I just wished my hands were a little bigger so that I could use it one handed, but it fits comfortably in my Jean and short pockets.

I don't think so, but I agree that the smaller form factor is great. I am still getting used to the 'phablet' dimensions of the 6p. The S7 will also have a better screen.

Maybe better screen, but like someone mentioned, I'm more interested about the software. Not much difference between all the high end phones now. Plus I can take my Nexus 6P from VZW to any other carrier.

Not going to switch. Samsung makes excellent hardware. But having lived with Touchwiz on the GS3 and the Galaxy Tab S'8, I will not be going back to a Samsung device. I know a few people who like TW but its not for me.

IMO, the Nexus 6P is one of the best Android devices out there. I enjoy it and it remains a refreshing experience every time I use it. The interface, battery and speed are all excellent.

As to the camera, I've taken excellent outdoors and good indoors pictures with the 6P which is what I need. I was at an engagement party last night and was asked to shoot video. The video I took was better than another guests iPhone video in identical lighting.

The latest offerings from Samsung definitely look good, and I'm impressed with how much better they've made their phones since the early days of the Galaxy. I'm still not a fan of their Android skin, but it doesn't appear to look or work as annoyingly as it once did.

That said, I doubt I'll give up my 6P for either offering. I own this phone outright, and switching so soon after getting it may irk my wife. The biggest matter, as others have noted, is the speed with which you can obtain updates with the Nexus line.

My Android lineage has been the Droid Incredible (bought the weekend it came out, switch to Verizon for it), followed by the Galaxy Nexus (Verizon), HTC One M8 (Verizon), and now the Nexus 6P (direct from Google, using it on Verizon).

HTC basically seemed to drop the Incredible about 8 to 12 months after it came out. Updates were incredibly slow to reach the phone, and the last 6 months I used it I'd get low storage warnings when I still had around 6GB of storage left on the phone. Swapped it for the Galaxy Nexus, and boy was that a mistake. Updates still had to be approved by Verizon, and after about a year the relationship between Google and Verizon soured and the phone was like this red headed stepchild. Gave up my unlimited plan to get the M8 on subsidy and really liked it, but a little more than a year in it was sluggish, and updates were still coming in months after the latest version of Android was released. M8 owners are still waiting for Marshmallow, and by the time it hits many early buyers could just get the M10 if they wanted, or jump to another brand.

Since moving back to the Nexus line purchased directly from Google, I've had a couple security updates pushed to my phone without any problems. Stock Android is fantastic, and whenever they roll out Android 7.0 I'll be one of the first to get it.

I don't have a huge grudge against other handset makers, but I want a stock Android experience with updates as fast as I can get them, and it the Nexus line appears to deliver on that better than anyone else.

If you dont care about updates than sure but Samsung is the king of bad updates even on their own flagships phones.

I put my pre-order in, took advantage of the Gear VR and 128GB microSD promotion.

Silver Titanium.

Not sure if I'll give up my 6P.

I am done with buying none nexus devices for some reason the nexus devices kill all feeling of wanting the next great thing. I guess because it's smooth and always gets updated

Nope, no more Samsung phones for me. The last straw was Knox, that eliminated the possibility of using a ROM. I had a Samsung Galaxy S3 for two years, and that phone was a mess until I rooted it. It was a great piece of hardware, but both Verizon and Samsung had to put their crapware on it before you'd get an update. Which meant that updates were very slow, and loaded with junk. With all those apps that I didn't want or use, the idle battery consumption was a problem to get down to where the phone would last even a day (6% an hour idling, and more when in use, get real). Had to root that phone just to throw out all the unused apps. And never did get down to the idle battery consumption that I easily get with the 6P. No way I'm going back to that. I really like the Nexus 6P and Google Fi. Just a bare Android phone that works very well. What more can I ask? Fast and beautiful, and decent battery usage for an Android phone. With greenify and "'aggressive doze", the idle battery usage is really good for an android phone, and no need to root to get the battery consumption down.

Hallelujah!
