I know the presentation is still going on, but what does everyone think?
I ordered a 32gb XL in Black.
There are many good points being raised as why Not to purchase the XL today, But the two main things that helped decide are:
A. I believe in Google, and their corporate commitment to make the Pixel a success, and provide updates and improvements, in the background to the software and security.
B. The free Bonus of an $80 Daydream VR is very attractive, and I don't expect this offer to last. I like knowing that Netflix, HBO and Disney, among others are ready to contribute content.
It may not be the "Best", but it apparently is at least One Of The Best camera phones available, and google is giving Unlimited storage of full resolution photos and 4K Videos. That makes getting Only 32 gb reasonable for me.
Plus it comes with a Cat 12 modem, which unfortunately my T Mobile carrier does not currently support. Probably good for at least 2 more years :>)

The HTC 10 could be slower by milliseconds maybe. It's a fast phone. Not everybody puts that much weight into shaving off fractions in speed as that critical. The cam is the best one HTC has put out. Best out there? Nah, of course not, but damn good and the OIS helps make it so. Amoled over LCD is personal preference. Look at the millions of iPhone users. That could care less and tons of them are as tech nerdy as Google fans. What one person prizes in a new phone another says "meh". Not knocking the pixel, would love to have one. Looking forward to see how it all shakes out.
Not buying. Seems like a step backwards from my replacement Note7.
I respectfully disagree
AMOLED screens are not always better. There are many people that will tell you otherwise. I am saying, let's wait and see.
What about Google Music? I want to have at least 10GB of my music always on my device. This is difficult on a 32GB device. On my HTC 10, I can store the music on the SD card.
There is only one bottom facing speaker. (unfortunately)
My point is that you are paying for the Google name, with the build quality of HTC.
Why not pay HTC directly and get the better deal?
Camera and screen are still up in the air. It has unlimited storage because it doesn't have a microSD card slot.In the US, the HTC 10 originally retailed at $699. It currently retails at $648. The Pixel phone has a better processor, better camera, AMOLED screen, and it has free unlimited Google Photos full-resolution image and video backup space.
The complaints about the price don't make sense. The Pixel phone is literally cheaper than comparable phones.
The Pixel phone is literally better than those phones. Cheaper than the HTC 10 as well.

Would you please stop posting your nonsense comments as you have no idea what you are talking about. The HTC is on sale right now for $549 dude. The Pixel phones are way over priced and have zero hardware features found on premium priced phones (no water proofing, wireless charging, SD card slot, removable battery, dual camera, nothing). The Pixel phones aren't cheaper than any other phone (except maybe the Note7).
The Pixel is just an updated Nexus 6P with a better build quality and zero new hardware features but it has a new launcher. LOL
