Are you gonna buy it?

I want to. Would be a step up from my Note 4, but no S-Pen might keep me from jumping off the Samsung ship.

I ordered a 32gb XL in Black.

There are many good points being raised as why Not to purchase the XL today, But the two main things that helped decide are:
A. I believe in Google, and their corporate commitment to make the Pixel a success, and provide updates and improvements, in the background to the software and security.
B. The free Bonus of an $80 Daydream VR is very attractive, and I don't expect this offer to last. I like knowing that Netflix, HBO and Disney, among others are ready to contribute content.

It may not be the "Best", but it apparently is at least One Of The Best camera phones available, and google is giving Unlimited storage of full resolution photos and 4K Videos. That makes getting Only 32 gb reasonable for me.

Plus it comes with a Cat 12 modem, which unfortunately my T Mobile carrier does not currently support. Probably good for at least 2 more years :>)

I didn't notice the VR promotion. I hope Verizon does a similar promo. I'd rather buy through Verizon as the protection packages they offer are better than the one Google does through Assurant. Or, hopefully Best Buy will do a promotion. When the Z Force came out it was $200 off + a free mod, so maybe for Black Friday BB will do something similar with the Pixel

I paid $650 for my nexus 6 last year. For that price I'll wait a few more years. I'll gladly accept one as a gift.

Its interesting it's a Verizon exclusive. Considering theyve never really offered nexus phones on to buy.

I know the presentation is still going on, but what does everyone think?

I think I'll pass.....
My reasons not necessarily in order of importance:

No dual rear camera.... I think a phone that supports wide angle shots is the wave of the future. Perhaps one day we will see a fully optical zoom.

No SD card support.....I still love being able to add as much memory as I want and if the phone dies I still have everything.... Yeah I know the cloud exists but I don't want to pay a continuous charge for storage.

No removable battery. Though not a deal breaker I prefer removable battery not only ad a backup but a great way to restore life in a phone as it ages.

Not sure how the audio is on this thing

Don't like the glass on the back

Hate the look of this phone.... Too much iPhone going here. Reminds me of how Japanese motorcycles used to emulate Harley's.

Priced too high.....if I was going to buy this phone would wait for the price to drop.

Less important to me:

I would have preferred a 5.7 screen but 5.5 is close enough.

Im not sure about Water resistance feature of this phone but not important to me.

The bottom line is that if it works for you....go for it. What I like or don't like in a phone should not matter that much to anyone else.

Even less important to me:

Wireless charging.... Used to love it on my Droid Maxx but with rapid charging it's less important to me

The HTC 10 could be slower by milliseconds maybe. It's a fast phone. Not everybody puts that much weight into shaving off fractions in speed as that critical. The cam is the best one HTC has put out. Best out there? Nah, of course not, but damn good and the OIS helps make it so. Amoled over LCD is personal preference. Look at the millions of iPhone users. That could care less and tons of them are as tech nerdy as Google fans. What one person prizes in a new phone another says "meh". Not knocking the pixel, would love to have one. Looking forward to see how it all shakes out.

Actually the HTC 1O is an incredible buy on the secondary market right now if.

Not buying. Seems like a step backwards from my replacement Note7.

Not sure about the step backwards from a Note 7, however I have to say nothing compelling me to buy this phone other than the possibility of faster updates.

I think it looks like this could finally be the true "pure" android competitor to the iPhone, the Nexus couldn't be.

The Verizon exclusivity arrangement guarantees that I will never own a Pixel phone. It is not a question of money or availability or financing or even carrier preference. It's a question of kowtowing to a "partner" that demands preferential treatment and the comfy seat at the head of the table because you know you can't go it alone on the strength of your own name and product line. Evidently it's the sort of sniveling approach that Rick Osterloh is accustomed to. Maybe in a few years he'll be able to move on to Apple when they buy out Google's failing consumer products division.

I cannot believe that Google thought they were going to take on Apple by rolling over for Verizon. Tim Cook must still be drenching himself laughing at that one.

I respectfully disagree :)

AMOLED screens are not always better. There are many people that will tell you otherwise. I am saying, let's wait and see.

What about Google Music? I want to have at least 10GB of my music always on my device. This is difficult on a 32GB device. On my HTC 10, I can store the music on the SD card.
There is only one bottom facing speaker. (unfortunately)

My point is that you are paying for the Google name, with the build quality of HTC.
Why not pay HTC directly and get the better deal?

Huh? Google play music is in the cloud so don't care about local storage and you have the 128 GB option anyway. I mean we get it you like the HTC 10 and HTC. I do like the HTC 10 as well and if has its limitations like every other phone.
What I don't get is the urge for you to come to every device thread (you did this for Note 7 as well) and say every device is inferior to HTC 10. Everyone has their likes and dislikes, not sure why do you care if someone buys the pixel, HTC 10, Note 7 or whatever else.

Very disappointing. I work too hard for my money to shell out around $900 for 128gb XL. We now have 2 blood sucking companies, Apple and Google.

I will be keeping 6P one more year and buy this insanely priced phone for $300 next year. Yup, just sitting this one out.

In the US, the HTC 10 originally retailed at $699. It currently retails at $648. The Pixel phone has a better processor, better camera, AMOLED screen, and it has free unlimited Google Photos full-resolution image and video backup space.
Camera and screen are still up in the air. It has unlimited storage because it doesn't have a microSD card slot.

Have been anticipating this phone since it was still thought to be a nexus device. Price tag is a little high, but since vzw will carry it, might be easier to swallow with monthly payments.

Yeah I will be getting it. The 32gb XL in black.

I've enjoyed using the HTC 10 and Galaxy S7 quite a bit, but ready to move on to the Pixel.

Pretty exciting features as well. To me at least.

No. Too many shortfalls for me to justify the price. Too small, no wireless charging, no front facing speakers, not waterproof, glass back (is stupid to shatter easily and still has antenna lines I don't get it and is that seamless glass over the camera also great so if it does shatter it does ruin phone camera and no chance of living with it with case or skin), and no nexus update promises though I'm sure it will be first update for a year...

The complaints about the price don't make sense. The Pixel phone is literally cheaper than comparable phones.

The Pixel phone is literally better than those phones. Cheaper than the HTC 10 as well.

Would you please stop posting your nonsense comments as you have no idea what you are talking about... The HTC is on sale right now for $549 dude. The Pixel phones are way over priced and have zero hardware features found on other premium priced phones (no water proofing, wireless charging, SD card slot, removable battery, dual camera, no nothing). The Pixel phones aren't cheaper than any other phone (except maybe the Note7).

The Pixel is just an updated Nexus 6P with a better build quality and zero new hardware features but it has a new launcher. LOL

I didn't know the iPhone had wireless charging, an sd slot, and removable battery. You know, since those are critical features that make a device "premium"

Kinda interested, but might wait for a price drop.

I'll be sticking with my Note 7. It's already crazy expensive as it is and although I know I'll be getting a smoother and snappier UI with the Pixels, I have never felt my Note being slow and I do find value in the S Pen.
