Are You Happy With Your Nexus 6?

Love the phone in all ways except one, that I'm surprised no one has mentioned yet. It is slippery! The back is too smooth and I'm always scared it's going to squirt out of my hands like a wet bar of soap. I really wish they had made the back more "grippy", like the Note 3/4. I'm not really a case guy, but I may have to do a case or skin on this one so I'm confident I won't drop this gem.

I'm not fond of cases, so I got the dbrand skin in black carbon fiber and I have to say it looks awesome, while adding a bit of texture. I posted pics here: http://forums.androidcentral.com/google-nexus-6/468640-now-more-people-have-gotten-their-devices-2.html#post4124291. I highly recommend it.

Isn't the speed of Chrome dependent on the speed of your Internet connection? My Chrome browser is fast.

I dislike cases too but for me the N6 requires one. I've been pleased with my Cruzerlite Bug Droid, $9.90 on Amazon.

Pages load very quickly in Chrome on my Nexus 6; that is not my complaint.
After pages have loaded there is usually a delay when I touch the screen to scroll or zoom a page.
I have developed a habit of taping the page after it loads to "wake it up" for my next touch.
The lag responding to touches is very annoying.

I have bought six Nexus devices in recent years and have been happy with five of them but I have mixed feelings about the Nexus 6 which I have been using for over 2 weeks. First of all it is really hard to hold and it is not because it is too big. The power and volume buttons prevent a good grip in the middle and holding it at the bottom feels unbalanced. The phone is just too slippery. Also Chrome is very laggy on the Nexus 6. My Nexus 5 with Lollipop actually runs smother and faster than the Nexus 6 which now has the 5.0.1 OTA installed followed by a factory reset. I am also not keen on the fact that the stock factory image does not allow encryption to be disabled. I will be keeping the Nexus 6 knowing that as Lollipop matures some things will get better. I do not like cases but I may have to get one for this nexus.
The Nexus 6 is best of the litter IMO.

Glad to hear that. My family is switching to Verizon this week and I really want the Nexus but would have to buy it without a contract. I may still do that but since we are going to use Verizon Edge, I'd be spending ~$200 more.
Edge gets you $25 off of your service per phone.

What many don't know is that if you own your phone, have at least a 10gb plan, AND are not under contract, you qualify for the same discount. Over a 2 year period, you will save $600 per line.

That's the cheapest way to get the phone, and you are free to move carriers and/or upgrade without a contract getting in the way.

To be very honest, I really like the Nexus 6 but I am highly disappointed with its battery life. I switched over from a galaxy s5 and the Nexus 6 gets the quivalent or worse battery life. Needless to say, I am going to return it for something with longer battery life like the Galaxy Note 4.

Just got the N6 up and running yesterday (came from a Note 3). I'm sure there's been some discussion on this, but I'm having some issues with the Messenger app that comes on the phone...there's no Send button (or Icon). Incredibly bizarre. I even had some friends look to see if they saw it before I had myself admitted. Anybody else having the same problem and if so, how did you fix it? Battery life yesterday was decent at best, but again, it was only the 1st day and I was tinkering a good bit. Not sure this phone will stay in my possession...remains to be seen.

Personally I just unboxed mine and I have to say I'm pretty disappointed in the display. Coming from g3 it is almost like I just stepped back 5 years in display quality. The white seems to either be pinkish and sometimes has a yellow tint. Pretty sure this phone is going back.

So true. When I put it next to my G3 and iPh 6+ I see a big difference. Esp the 6+.
Still a nice screen but that and the battery are the 2 reasons I may be selling my n6. Hard to justify the high cost.

You might want to make sure Twilight mode isn't on.

I have a 6+ and definitely do not see that with the screen. The Nexus 6 is among the best screens I have seen. The only thing I am on the fence about is the width. After a week I have still not gotten used to the width.

I have a 6+ and OPO so I like the bigger phones but the tad extra width on the nexus 6 is just awkward in my hand, pocket etc.

Width was an issue for me as well, at first. I started changing my grip, using my whole hand to support. Made a big difference and thrilled with the phone size.

I know what you mean about the width but the ph is so smooth and solid.

To be honest, I have my brightness down to around 30% or so to save battery. That is where the screen starts to noticeably show the "pink or slight yellow" shade (been discussed in ac)....but really, just splitting hairs.

I even went by my att store and a t mobile to do a side by side with mine. Of course, they jack them up to 100%..lol. When i lowered those units to the level I'm using, they look identical to mine. You may just have one from a newer/better batch. You have a 6+ so u know the screen is a nice white.

If you don't mind me asking, what brightness level are you keeping your N6?

I keep my N6 at about 45% which is where I kept my N5. I do not use any of the stock wallpapers but like darker wallpapers with blues etc.

When I move my brightness slider, my brightness goes from bright white to dark grey. I see no problem. Normally I'm between 1/4 to 1/2 brightness. I've had my Nexus 6 for a month. I'm not a one handed device user.

Like almost everything but the video. The constant refocus is why I'll end up taking my 6+ to my 4yr olds Christmas show.

I run mine full brightness with the auto brightness turned off. I turn off NFC, automatic wifi search, wifi, and I leave my screen on time to 1 minute idle. High on screen time waste power. I leave my GPS, and 3G on, I turn off LTE unless I know that I get full signal, and want to surf or down load. For texts I only need 3g anyways.

I easily get 16+ hours a day today I played music on the phone for 5.5 hours at work, and I tlaked about an hour and a half. No battery life issues.

Fascinating. The difference to the 6+ is only about 4 mm. But I guess it all demands on your hand shape......

I am going to return mine. I tried to get use to the size and then got my wife a droid turbo. Wow....that is what the Nexus should have been.
