Are you planning to get the Pixel 7?

Best Buy is having a pretty sweet deal as well. Just cancelled my Google order and reordered on BB. BB is giving a 200 gift card, plus the best part.....I get to pick it up!! Too many shady carriers lately

Plus they gave me 545 for my P6P

So is it $545 for P6 pro + $200 Bestbuy gift card? Do you know how long is the e-gift valid ?

I've been using the 6 pro for the last year and seriously debated stepping down, especially since it would in effect have been more than free after trade-in and credit. I opted for the 7 Pro anyway for two primary reasons: first, I absolutely love the telephoto, and this year's will be even better, along with the macro mode which isn't offered on the regular 7; second, I'm a little concerned about the battery life on the 7 as while the pro model handily meets all but my very toughest of days, the smaller battery would likely induce anxiety a bit more often.

The Pro models are definitely pushing the boundaries for me, but are manageable (and the 7 Pro is slightly smaller than its predecessor)

Oh, it's smaller than its predecessor? Maybe I should attempt to hold it in the hand at the store before considering the smaller model. You're right about the telephoto lens and macro lens. I dislike how the smaller Pixels always seem to lack those fundamental camera specs.

I pulled the trigger. I've had issues with the 6 pro and hopefully they go away with the 7 pro.

Best buy have me 545 for the 6 pro plus a 200 gift card. I need a tablet so it seems like a good move

Hmm... I had been basing that on what I'd read before the reveal when it was a 'nearly' certain thing. But they're very, very close.

Per Google's product pages:

6 Pro: 163mm x 75.9mm x 8.9mm
7 Pro: 162.9mm x 76.6mm x 8.9mm

0.1mm difference in height would make no perceptible difference (at least to me), and depth is identical. Width is 0.7mm... If the positioning of ports, position and dimensions of bar, etc are all the same, it's possible some existing cases might still work for it, especially if they have any flex to them.

[Editing to insert non-pro model dimensions for comparison]

6: 158.6mm x 74.8mm x 8.9mm
7: 155.6mm x 73.2mm x 8.7mm

Pixel 7 should be quite noticeably smaller.

I'm on the.fence about cancelling my order. The modem on the P7P has me worried Haven't seen anything about an improvement yet.

P6P is bit of stretch for me to hold (my main device is ZF3) and so I traded in P6P for P7 @bestbuy. Do you guys know what's the maximum digital zoom advertised by Google for P7? I am on Pixel superfans stream now, but they are only talking about P7Pro.

Canceled Google Store order - ordered from Best Buy - trade in went from $480 to $545 - had a $5 BB coupon and I can pick it up on release day.

This had me looking as well.

Google is offering the following towards the P7 Pro:
$480 in trade from the 128GB P6 Pro
$540 in trade from the 256GB P6 Pro
$600 in trade from the 512GB P6 Pro

Best Buy is offering $545 towards the P7 Pro for the P6 Pro, regardless of storage size (though they strangely don't have the 512GB version as an option to trade in).

If you are looking at trading in the 128GB P6 Pro, it's probably worth going to Best Buy. From the 256GB, it's a coin toss at a $5 difference (assuming you would find something you want with either store's respective credits). From the 512GB, Google is the better option.

Not a whole lot of info on the Samsung Exynos 5300 modem

https://www.sammobile.com/news/next-generation-pixel-phones-new-samsung-exynos-5g-modem/

It's new. I'm going on faith that it's improved. Can't possibly be any worse.

"There is more, the chipset will reportedly feature a new S5300 5G modem from Samsung, that will be based on NR Release 16. This promises better performance, stability and efficiency compared to older Release 15 parts."

Uh, OK.

I’m gonna go by Best Buy tomorrow and hope they have the pro on display then I’ll pre order through the google store. Going Hazel and then a black watch

One thing that bums me out is I can’t get trade in credit for my 6a

That struck me as really odd at first, but... it's probably because the 6a is still a current device. Definitely get where you're coming from, though.

I am bought into the Samsung ecosystem. I have the S22+, Tab S8, Galaxy watch 5 and Buds 2.

If I only had the S22+, I'd definitely be selling it and getting the 7 Pro. I like to switch phones often but I totally am sold into Samsung for the time being.

I blame Apple for forcing the competition to compete with them with having a whole host of devices that communicate well together. Samsung did it and now Google is on track to do the same. Selling people the idea of having a phone, watch, buds and tablet. I get it, but it makes it hard to leave or switch ecosystems when you want to try something new. I'm going to give my S22+ another year until the Pixel 8 comes out. Then I'll probably sell it. But I'll keep the other Samsung devices I have. There's no way I could give up my Tab S8 and only have a phone. I'd be curious to see if a Pixel could communicate with a Samsung tablet well. I mainly use it to watch videos and play games on.
