Ask us about the Sprint Evo 4G

I actuallly think they will come out with a dock for it because it has an open charging port just like the Droid. It would be a vertical one though and not horizontal like the Droid. MicroUSB is already taking over the mobile industry so it would be easy to have the government regulate it.

Ah, sorry, that wasn't directed at me then, I have the extended battery, and I don't use the original anymore, at least not until my parts arrive from overseas.

Click on these links for the HTC EVO 4G's dock and holster images. These were taken from CTIA but rarely seen or photographed by any media agency. The design and colorations may change in the next two months, but you can definitely see the micro-USB and mini-HDMI plugs on the dock. There is no other mention of what features of functionality it serves.

CTIA First Impressions: HTC EVO | AndroidGuys

Awesome. I completely missed that!

What is the x factor of the zoom in the onboard camera?

Does the zoom work with the video?
And if so, can you zoom while recording?

As far as plans, they will be the same as they currently are. If you live in a city with Wimax you can toggle it on and it will stay on Wimax when available and then fall back to EVDO and 1x. There is also a toggle for 4G which I assume just keeps it on EVDO and 1x. No idea what they may do once Wimax is more common but at least for now I can't see them changing this policy. The CEO verified this morning that the prices will be the same the same way they didn't go up when EVDO and Rev. A came out. If you are on the network and have the device you can connect to the fastest network available.

Don't know the zoom, but I imagine it works in video as it works on my hero while recording.

How sharp with the photographs be when taken? Will they be sharp & clear? or will they not be any different than the mobile phone camera's out there?

How fast is the screens response to touch?

How sensitive is it? What if I were to put it in my pocket or something brushed up on it?

CPU & Europe

It's really a beautiful phone. I have two questions... Since it's not due out for the next 3-6 months, why are they using the 1GHz SnapDragon CPU, rather than going with the upcoming Cortex A9 dual core? And secondly, when will it be available in Europe (specifically NL)?

I would really like to know if the phone will support native Exchange ActiveSync for calendar? For email? For contacts?

anyone know is you can manually switch to roam only? possibly a built in feature on android? possibly an app to do this? This is a very handy feature on my Pre via a patch. If I have a weak signal I just switch to roam only and carry on! thanks

Do you know the answer???

As far as I know, my Sprint HTC Hero and Apple's iPhone 3GS as well as the new iPad are the only 3 devices that have oleophobic screens.

Does the Evo have an oleophobic screen?

For the kind of money these phones cost, I think all full screen phones should have this feature as standard. It really makes a difference. My HTC Hero screen wipes clean so easily.

"Post your Q's in this forum thread, and we'll get you some A's. Promise."

I thought all questions were promised to be answered???

Maybe you're still researching the answer.....

Thanks ;)

I'll third, fourth, or fiftieth the battery life question. I saw in the comparison its 1500 vs 1400 in the other comparables but is that enough? How much more power does 4G pull if any at all? Does the processor make up for it? I'm also interested in the simultaneous voice and data question.

I stopped by Sprint 2 days ago and the employees know nothing about it. They didn't even know that the "Supersonic" was being announced let alone when it would be coming. To clarify before the employee knowledge flames start, the store I go to here in Chicago have always been up to speed and very aware of the business. It seems odd that they hadn't a clue. The guy I spoke with had heard of the handset but wasn't aware of any Sprint announcements.

My take away from that encounter is that it will be a while before we see the hardware. I'm also expecting a rediculous price on this thing. I'll be eligible for upgrade late summer and I'm still anticipating $300 or more for this nugget of awesomeness.

For anyone that hasn't experienced 4G, oh my, it's lightning. I'm lucky to have incredible coverage for it here too. I can't wait!

any chance the wifi will be n and not just b/g?

will the phone have dual mics like the nexus?

will it be a crippled version of flash that is included?

will HTC step up and include two batteries like samsung did with their instinct?

is HTC going to prevent you from removing the stock apps it ships with like with the Hero?

when is 2.1 coming out for the Hero? (just wanted to sneak that one in there)

will the NFL app be optimized for the Evo and not completely suck when watching thursday night games while plugged into a TV with the HDMI out?

i didn't notice what USB standard it was using. speed wise.

i saw an app on a blurry cam shot a while back that read "HTC SSD". does that mean solid state drive?

i will have more for you later.

Add me to the list of people wanting more info on the Exchange ActiveSync support.

And I'm just speculating here, but I'd be very surprised if Sprint did different plan pricing for 4G devices. From what I've heard, the 4G aircards do use a different plan, but the monthly fee is the same as the 3G data plans. Also, in the Sprint/Clearwire keynotes the other day both CEOs said it was cheaper for them to provide 4G than it is to provide 3G.

NFL app is going away at the end of March. Verizon decided to overpay for the feature so Sprint let it go.

I am more interested in the SlingPlayer app on the EVO through HDMI out. This would kick butt to be able to bring a HDMI cable with on vacation and watch my DirecTV at the hotel. No need to bring the SlingCatcher anymore. Will save a ton of space in the suitcase.
