AT&T: Galaxy Note 8 Pre-Order Thread

You do realize any vendor that has Note 8 for pre-order is getting hammered today, given that excess strain on the system infrastructure there will be delay's, slowness and a strong possibility for errors/mishaps.
I am not defending, criticizing or making any statements on their behalf. I simply urge patience when trying to get your order in. The AT&T system was already slow at 0515est this morning when I ordered mine.

Cheers,
BR
Waiting for my Note 8 to ship..... :)

That's not a free pass to charge people without giving them anything in return.

Their poor bandwidth and cart systems aren't the consumers fault.

Agreed, it's not (You must admit that the strain on the system caused by everyone and their brother trying to order the N8 is not their fault either, it is very costly to maintain the Infrastructure that supports all of this). I would bet that If you contact AT&T and show them the double billing they will correct it for you. I have found that they are usually very willing to help.

One thing I noticed on my AT&T preorder. I'm in the next program so the only fees are the taxes, etc. I had to give my CC for that. It DID state that this wouldn't be charged until the items has shipped. It even says so in the order confirmation email. This morning, my credit card has been charged for this amount!! Yet, still says shipping date 9/4. They should not be charging this until it shipped like they said!!

Eh, I would say their site failing is their fault. I mean, they always know it's going to happen, but they never do anything in advance to beef it up. And yes, it's costly. Like all of their service plans. Seems like they should have enough money to have a website that works, even (especially) when a new device is available.

I'm debating pre-ordering the unlocked version through Sammy directly. I read the Note 8 will be compatible with their upcoming 500mhz band. Will the unlocked version still work on this band? Thanks!

Wow, preordered last night. Order was showing on ATT site this morn, just received an email that stated... "Hi xxxxx,

Thank you for your recent order!

We're sorry. We couldn't complete your order. Call us at the number below as soon as possible so we can get your order back on track.

When you call, give this order number: xx-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. Be sure to have your passcode ready so we can help.

If we don't hear from you by 11:59 p.m. ET on 9/7/2017, we'll have to cancel your order.

Thanks for choosing us,
AT&T

Called the number and the lady would only say that the Note 8 was not available on her system and it had to be ordered online and to go to an ATT store to correct the problem. I kept telling her I ordered it online and would like to talk to someone above her to get a decent explanation. I finally gave up and called a different number straight out of the ATT app. A gentlemen answered and helped me. While I was talking to him I realized the last 4 digits of the phone number the email asked me to call was my extension at work. Freaky. After verifying shipping address and billing address he said my order was indeed being processed and I might have got the email because it was actually not in stock. I had given the first call lady my pass code so I changed it right away to be safe. From googling the phone number it seems to have use by ATT before. Still weird stuff!

I know the pre-orders won't be live till later tonight (12 AM for most) but I figure getting a thread going where people can discuss their thoughts about their pre-order with their carrier/store in mind wouldn't hurt, right? ;).

Sound off below if you're getting one... Oh don't forget to mention which color you're thinking of!

Actually had to switch carriers...buh bye Verizon! Getting the Orchid Grey!

I had the same thing happen.

Re: AT&T: Galaxy Note 8 Pre-Order Thread

Honestly, AT&T has the worst deal on pre orders. I currently have S8 Plus, while I defiantly want the Note 8, I think I'm better off waiting for black Friday deals. That's 3 months away. Bestbuy will most likely have Note 8 AT&T for at least $200 off. I'll sit and wait :)

Got my preorder in Thursday morning. Took Verizon's half off deal. Orchid Grey!

At&t has so few posts. Makes me want to look into vzw and tmobile to see if I'm missing something! I know when we switched from sprint for bad 4g, vzw was expensive and tmobile had sketchy service. May be a good time to look again. Been a few years.

I logged into "My AT&T" this afternoon just to see what they had brewing. Of course, my line has been up for upgrade forever so the Note 8 Ad pops up in my face immediately. So I slide with it to see what they offer... the "Chat Window" pops up and I tell the girl I don't want to pre-order, I want to Buy Outright, Over the Counter at my local store. She pauses me for a minute then comes back and tells me that all the goodies are still available to me. The 128GB SD Card and the Wireless Charger are available for a "Qualified Purchase" not just "Pre-Order"! Cool! She also told me I could get $200.00 trade-in on a qualified smartphone so I told her I had Note 5. She said, sorry - only S8, S8+ or S8 Active! Who the hell is going to give up one of those for $200.00? Anyway, I thanked her and told her I'd check with my Store on 9/15 and do the deal without the trade-in!!! I can sell the Note 5 for more than $200 on Swappa for Chrisake!

I don't think any sane person would give up an S8 for 200.

Thanks so much for posting about the Samsung deal. I'd had 2 note 7's. No problem with either. I just ordered a note 8 from Samsung, got $425.00 off and cancelled my AT&T order. Well worth it even if I have to wait a few days longer.

Placed my upgrade/pre-order yesterday - I'm "leasing" the phone for $31 per month. I know there's other options, etc etc but this was totally fine for me.

First time in almost 10 years that my primary phone won't be an iPhone...but I'm fine with that (even though I still use a Macbook Air, iMac and iPad Pro). My "go to" apps are all 3rd party & are supported by both (and other) platforms so I'm fine with the difference. One of the biggest reasons for me to switch (and why I love the Note)... easy... the S Pen.

So I had the awesome Note7 only to to give one back twice due to the recall. So then I was forced to get a Galaxy s7 Edge on the Next program. While the S7 is a good phone it was a downgrade with smaller internal storage, no iris scanner, smaller screen & of course no S-Pen.
I saw Samsung is offer a pre-order credit up to $425 for people who went through this nightmare. So far I have found no information saying AT&T will also give us a trad-in credit, which I kinda understand. Has anyone heard if AT&T will at least let people get out of their current Next program early so we can finally get the phone we really want? I signed up for the Next 24 plan which allows me to trade-up every 12 months as long as the current s7 Edge is good.
