AT&T M8 Software update Downloading NOW!!!

Hmm..

Well, I just picked up the M8 today and upon getting it set up like I like, I checked for an update from AT&T OTA and it said one was available. Huge file! After update, the phone seemed the same, and I checked version which showed 4.4.4

Was this perhaps ONE update that the phone was in need of and now I have to wait to DL the latest?

CarrierIQ is still present. It's still turning on my GPS, although it seems like not as often.

It could be. 4.4.4 came out in January so if the phone was made before then (which is very likely) it could trigger that one first before the 5.0.2 one. You can set the clock ahead 24 hours on the phone and check for another update or just wait until tomorrow. It can also take a few weeks for the latest update to hit everyone, though it seems like AT&T pulled the trigger on everyone at once. Haven't seen anyone say they could not get it.

Now i know i've only had it for a few hours. However before the update, all day you could see my gps turning on and off (believe this was the gps issue).

Since the update i haven't had my gps turn on once. So like cwise222 said, we'll have to see till tomorrow. However initially results look good.

EDIT: and the gps on and off is back.... great

Yes!! Mine too! Made me kind of paranoid to why the GPS was always turning on when I had it off. lol

update downloads and iniates but I keep getting an error. When it reboots my phone says there was a problem with the update. Please wait for another update. I am using the stock recovery.

One thing I have noticed is my WiFi reception is no where as good now. I've always had excellent reception prior to this update.

Got the update yesterday. Is there a way to make the ringtone for a text message not the notification sound? I want it back to the text message ringtone.

Update went smooth last night. So far, no major issues. Everything seems to be running good. Battery drain is a bit worse, but that is common after a new os update. After a few cycles, battery life will go back up I'm sure. No GPS or MMS message issue as a lot of folks were having on 4.4.4. Pretty happy so far, one of the smoothest updates I've had.

Yes, go into the message app you use and update the notification sound. This is what I did.

Decided to enjoy a lollipop this morning to toast the lollipop update for at&t users. Hope everyone is enjoying it.

2 things i've noticed so far: there's no SMS preview anymore in the notification bar? it just shows the SMS symbol but doesn't show who it's from or a preview of the message.

THIS!! Anyone know if this is a setting or just how Lollipop is?

Am I the only one who still hasn't received the update??? Tried setting the time forward and nothing... :-(

What should I expect a normal battery drain after an update?

GPS ISSUE has not been resolved. It is just different now. Instead of flashing in the notification bar while the gps is disabled. It simply re-enables the GPS by itself and then goes back to flashing. I have turned off my GPS 8 times already today but it keeps turning itself back on after a few minutes and starts flashing.

I updated mine last night and for some reason it's getting warm really quickly. Before the update I never felt any warmth from just Web browsing or general usage.

Edit: Battery is also draining quickly, about 1% a minute while the screen is on low brightness.

Things I’ve noticed since the update: My app drawer is not displaying apps properly and I continuously have to select ‘Alphabetical’ arrangement for everything to display; it will remain blank unless I do this. Also, every time I try to hide/unhide apps from the app drawer, Sense Home crashes and I am left without the ability to hide apps I don’t regularly use. The IQ Agent service is still driving me insane, albeit not as frequently. Another thing I’ve noticed is when playing music from Google Play Music, there is no way to close the app from the notification bar without clearing the entire queue in Google Play Music. There is also no way to change the track, pause, etc… from the lock screen; however, it does change the lock screen wallpaper to whatever the album cover was from the song you are listening to. Hopefully HTC and Google are working to repair these issues quickly and painlessly…

I Googled it, and unfortunately, it's just how Lollipop is. :-( I know you can root your phone and get it back though.

You can use a different app and it should let you have notifications. I use hello SMS, but others here have highly recommended Textra. For me, I can see the message or at least the beginning of it as well as the sender.

just noticed my GPS has started to blink after the update. However it doesn't seem to drain my battery or make my phone hot by running. Guess we'll have to wait and see what happens.

If I use the ROM download from the HTC site, will it erase all my pictures and music?
