AT&T Note 7 Recall Thread

You didn't have to take them back today, you could have waited until the Note 7's came in.

That's exactly what my AT&T Rep told me Kelly - she's actually going to grab the first new black phone that comes in, call me and we'll do the switch... I couldn't ask for better service!

The only thing that could have been better is if Samsung could have kept track of which phones got which batteries by serial number - but with 2.5 million phones, GOOD LUCK with that DATABASE PROJECT!

Thanks for clearing that point up.
I plan on waiting till new ones and exchange mine.
If I had of wanted a different one. Would have purchased it not the note 7 in the first place. 😉

So Im charging my phone and pick it up to send a text as I see this spot on the screen start to appear. I instantly rip out the charger and wonder wtf is that. Now Im sure its coincidence but the question remains, wtf is that?

I call samsung and try to request an exchange at which point they tell me to contact the carrier next week. Im back using my Active but figured someone here could explain if this is some type of leakage or what not.

I know I'm a little late on this, but turn it off and let it sit for 5 minutes then smell your USB port.

I'm serious. If your battery is leaking, the stuff it leaks will be brown and watery with gooey and even browner chunks in it. And it stinks like some sort of chemical mixed with that weird fecal smell you can get from brussell sprouts or boiled cabbage. You would be able to smell it. Don't smell it while it's turned on, because those fumes are also pretty caustic and your eyes and nose can burn like hell after being exposed to them.

If it stinks, get rid of it right away.

I turned it in this morning. It was the kcd screen failing btw. But thanks for the info.

Went to my ATT today ,and brought them my back shattered Note 7. Turned it in and got a brand new S7 Edge, until the new Note 7 comes in. If the S7 Edge had a type C connection port, I might have kept it.

Be very careful not to get any scratches on the edge or they wont take it back.

Yeah, I know lol! I bought a cheap case. I dodged a real bullet here, thanks Samsung, you did the right thing.

See they'll take back ones that can't even be used due to cracked screen and other broken ones but won't take back one in brand new condition because I didn't buy it from there lol wtf

On one hand I understand why they wont take back a best buy or other retailers device. They will eat the cost of the refund and or loaner phone up front and who knows how long itll take to be compensated for it.

On the other hand it is technically their device and should be willing to honor the recall no matter where you bought it.

There should have been a universal process to return and exchange these to avoid this mess.

Well this is a little different. It might have been a device they sold, he just didn't buy it from them.

Re: AT&T Note 7 Recall Thread

Youre right, I forgot this was a private sale. So many people having problems its hard to keep track lol. Private sales I bet will eventually go through Samsung wouldnt you think?

Something is going to have to be done and honestly, AT&T could handle an exchange. Now a refund is a different matter.

AT&T is going to recoup money from Samsung for doing this so they really could handle all AT&T exchanges.

One problem that may pop up.. Someone steals a phone, it is locked, they trade it in with no receipt and the thief just got a great new unlocked phone, free and clear.

I don't see how that can be avoided though, unless the phone has been reported as stolen or lost.

Its a att branded phone and was night at a att store just not by me or at my store
You might have to be more patient than most, for there to be a resolution eventually.

If it comes down to it, maybe the seller can call and set something up.

I think on the end Samsung will do something about this because there are a lot of phones sold individually, on Swappa, eBay, etc.

I just returned my phone for a full refund. I already claimed the free 256gb card a week ago, I wonder if I would still get the card?

Ok just got a call from my business att Rep and heres how this is supposed to work.

Those of us who returned our Note 7's for either a refund or a loaner phone will be receiving an email and text letting us know the new batch of Note 7's have been shipped to At&t distributors. At that point we can either check our local stores for available stock or call At&t directly and have them ship us a new phone at which point you will need to return the loaner. You will be set back up onto a next plan and be done. They will honor all BOGO deals for those who got the phones under a BOGO deal. People who returned their phones will take priority over any new sales and will be the first people notified of the new batches. They dont know how many phones they will get at a time so when you get the message you need to call asap.

What he doesnt know is if the people who have not returned their devices will get the same text/email or not because they wont be flagged in the system as someone who returned their device. Again he doesnt have an answer on that side so thats on you if you dont return it.

Last thing, he did confirm that any damages to the loaners will be the responsibility of you and they will either a)decline your upgrade to the Note 7 or bill you the full cost of the loaner.

As for a timeline on when they will get the new batches, he doesnt know but seems to think it will be pretty quick.

got the S7 Edge and I cannot wait to get my Note 7 back, the new one cannot get here quick enough and I even had to go back to the AT&T shore I no longer deal with because where I purchased it was giving me grief.
