i understand, but how do i find out what bit to download?
What version of Windows are you using? 32bit or 64bit? I thought you said you were on a Mac... are you using bootcamp to run Windows as well?
chris thats what i was thinking. IM only doing jts. Im still confused though.
I am currently rooted, and have superuser access in the app drawer. Now im doing clockwork if thats correct? i dont know if i should use the 32 or 64 bit.
I must also be dumb because i cant figure out how to put phone in download mode... i turned off and am now holding down the volume key.. nothing
Ok, download ROM Manager from the app store. I bought the paid version, it's worth it, but I think the free one will work too. Once that's installed, there's an option to flash a recovery. Select that and make sure you choose "Samsung Fascinate" from the list. That should download and flash Clockwork recovery.
(I assume this will work, but I'm not 100% sure, since I flashed the recovery through Odin... since I use a PC, it was easy enough)
Assuming that works, and you have a functioning Clockwork recovery, the first thing to do is make a backup of your current system. In ROM Manager, there's an option to Backup Current ROM... do that.
After that, have at it. Using ROM Manager, select Download ROM and find JT's Super Clean ROM. It'll download and install it for you. That should give you enough to play with for now.
I must also be dumb because i cant figure out how to put phone in download mode... i turned off and am now holding down the volume key.. nothing
Ok... simple question.
Are you using a PC or a Mac?
If you're using a Mac, 32 or 64 bit drivers are irrelevant, because they're for Windows... so they don't apply to you.
mac. so it seems doing the flash clockwork mod recovery wont work since i havnt installed the clockwork flash... should i go back to doing it the manual way
Problem!!!!!!! I clicked backup rom then all of a sudden it went black and said samsung. now it has a white triangle with a yellow exlamation point.
Ok, step 1... let's find out if you have Clockwork installed.
In rom manager, select "reboot into recovery". The phone should reboot, go to a screen with yellow text, and then to a screen with green text. If you're getting stuck on the screen with yellow text with a message about a failed signature, you don't have clockwork installed.
Let me know what happens and then we can proceed.
