Aug 11th "Official" Release Date?

LMAO! Sounds like an Engadget headline.

Sprint rep has a ballbusting headache of Epic proportions.

And to Dre3001 who asked if I was "all right" due to my frustration fueled rant...I'm so glad today's news cleared everything up so we can see how I've blown this all out of proportion.

CLEARLY, we've all successfully preordered our phone, and know where to buy, for how much, line up on which day...

I can't wait for the Epic launch ... on April 1st. Do you think it'll ship with Gingerbread?

LOL I want the epic 4g as much as everyone else here and yes it is frustrating considering their is no solid release information. But at the same time I realize its just a phone so there is no reason to rant and go crazy since eventually the phone will come.

Despite there being no preorders today the good news is that with all these conflicting reports they are all mostly in August despite everyone saying different days. I am still confident that the phone will be released before September. Sprint cant be that stupid to hold back the release till September...or atleast I hope not

sprint does big launches Friday Saturday aka pre instinct and evo. Normal releases Sundays. August 11th was just photo shopped in and scammed a bunch of websites. Usually training is 2 weeks before launch... so 20th sounds good

i assure you, it wasn't photoshopped in.

not to say its launching that day for sure, but no photoshopping was involved.

Sweet... well, kinda. Which is the original and which is the edited version? What would make sense (probably not true) is that the original issue had no date in there, then the date got added after the announcement/all but verified by VZW and the date of the torch (which my mom wants for some reason) was updated to try to beat the competitors. Thats what I'm hoping as I've just about had it with my Hero. I love it, its much better than the Pre's I've owned, but I can't look at it the same way anymore knowing there's a sexier phone right around the corner. I feel like Jeff Dunham's Walter, "Can I just sit in it?"

Just to throw another Monkey wrench in this whole speculation

An anonymous source of SDX-Developers just got confirmation through official email from Samsung and Sprint Corporate that advocate devices to be rolled out starting 8/9/2010. They were originally intended to be rolled out 8/6/2010, but was changed due to a “minor delay” they did not disclose. The August 20th release date was officially confirmed as well!

I dont bank onn dates for this phone anymore. Does the 11th make sense? yes. Will it happen? Only time will tell, and that goes for all the speculation dates. Honestly Im just sitting back and waiting for the release secretly dreaming and praying that it comes out earlier (yes I had a dream that I got my epic 4g and well it was an epic dream).

Sprint is that stupid. The 11th is the only redeemable day and to be honest the likely hood of it happening is pretty slim. Anything after that and they waste their opportunity to smash a pie in the face of the moto droids. But that is sprints way of doing things, so I barely expect and august launch now (although wishing and hoping Ill get my epic next week).

I did get an email for SP yesterday. It did mention the epic. Then it had a link to that page with the dolphins. But no pre-order info.

I don't understand why people keep saying this. We're not mad it's not out, we're mad that nobody in Samsung or Sprint will say anything about a release date, even though it's clear Samsung is itching to pull the trigger.

Again, it's not that the phone isn't out, it's that we don't know anything about the release date.

Samsung is obviously ready for the phone to be released. It's evident that Sprint is the one who keeps changing their minds at this point. That's what is aggravating. I'm pretty sure Samsung would have preferred a mass release across all 4 carriers at once. Unfortunately that didn't happen. Now Sprint is faced with two contenders that are about to hit the market. They urgently need to do something.

Went and compared my evo to the captivate screen at best buy and asked her if she knew when the epic is coming out. She only said she was going to a training class for it next thursday.

This check just got a hands-on yesterday with an Epic. With a BETA Epic.

I can't even come up with a BS reason for them to make her do a hands-on with a beta handset if this phone was coming out next week. Hell, I can't imagine that it's even coming out this *month* if they're unable to offer the press a final-version handset. Hell, she's in New York (said so in the comments). You'd think that they would give press in New York access for a complete phone...
