Battery Life WTF!?

Have had the Note 2 for a week now upgrading from a Nexus S. Huge upgrade! /rant IMHO, the reality of prompt upgrades of the Nexus devices does not live up to the potential. The A team does the release version, the B team handles the updates with predictable results (****ty battery life, lags, crashes etc)

Anyway, I like the note but I am perplexed by its battery life. No matter what I do it seems to run down. I have a decent number of wake locks, but it's hard to pin down to anything more than Google Services, Kernel, Android OS. Bizarrely even when I switched to Airplane mode battery continues to run down. I didn't switch to airplane for long, so I will try again soon...

What I was expecting to see was 1 or 2 percent per hour with screen off, wifi on, sync on (gmail and a couple of news apps set to infrequent auto updates). I am seeing more like 5+, which sucks! Any thoughts? Rooting not an option.

Oh, I realize my cellular signal sucks, but thought that having good wifi would mitigate. In any case, switching to airplane should make that irrelevant.

You're not doing poorly in terms of battery life. 3 hours and 33 minutes of screen time seems about right with poor signal and Wi-Fi. The question is what have you been doing when the screen was on? Internet browsing, texting, video, etc? Any phone calls? I was getting about the same when I had my Note II.

I usually get around 10pct drain per hour of screen time, a little less for GPS navigation or phone calls, and 2 pct per hour with the screen off.

5 pct per hour with the screen off is definitely not right. Have you set the Power saving features under settings?
