BATTERY SUCKS AFTER FROYO UPDATE !!!

Im about 25hrs so far and 20% or so left.
Phone is back to normal for sure after the hard reset I did last week.
i saw another page somewhere about another app with a mem leak that alot of people use. I think it was Appbrain.

The hard reset did fix my battery issues. Still have lag in sms. And trouble with utube. Says can not play video.

It's clearing all the memory. Go into settings. SD card phone storage. At bottom of list u will see factory reset. Just make sure u back up contacts. Because they will get erased.

Pardon my noobitude but what exactly is a hard reset? It it just powering down the phone?

A hard reset basically formats the internal memory and starts your phone clean as when you first got it.

Note: A hard reset doesn't touch the SD card

Here's the procedure to do it:

1. Turn the power off.
2. Hold the Volume Down button
3. Press and release the Power button
4. You are now presented with a menu that allows for Fastbook, Recovery, Clear Storage, and Simlock
5. Select Clear Storage by pressing the Volume Down button
6. Press and release the Power button
7. Now simply confirm your decision: Volume Up for YES and Volume Down for NO

Anything else I need to worry about backing up like the SD card contents? And what is the best way of backing up? Is there an app that you recommend or will copying things over to my laptop work?

Ya will this erase all the old apps and layouts that I had too?

Also, do battery widgets harm the battery enough to where its noticeable or not?

Thanks!

apparently the battery widgets cause problems too

Hard reset will not touch SD card at all. Just phone memory.
Make sure your contacts are Google contacts and not just phone contacts or you will lose them.

So google contacts should be safe right?

I'm not going to read back through 11 pages, but I noticed that my screen brightness went back to 100% after the update. Possibly that could be the reason for your battery life reduction.

I put it back to auto brightness right after I did the 2.2 update, and battery life doesn't really seem affected for me..

Google contacts should be fine... That information is saved on Googles servers and should update automatically once you log back into your Google account after a hard reset. Also you shouldn't lose any thing saved on the SD card during a hard reset.... I had some thing getting hung up in Android that was killing my battery in 5 - 7 hours and I did a hard reset and actually didn't mind losing the pictures on the SD card but they were all still there after...

doubled my battery life

I think I've found the biggest problem, at least on my phone..

I went through all the battery optimization steps but I couldn't ever get more than 10-11 hours.

Well, I went into Settings->Apps->Manage Apps->Running Apps and killed off a few (Facebook, Footprints, Stocks, and NASCAR). All of the apps except NASCAR restarted themselves. With NASCAR not running, I'm easily getting over 20 hours of battery life.

I've narrowed it down to just that app.. it's the only one that stays off when your force close it (until you turn your phone off, anyway). Ever since, every time I turn off my phone for whatever reason, I force close NASCAR as soon as I turn it back on. Now my battery is lasting 20-22 hours.

I wish there was a way to just remove that piece of crap application without rooting the phone.

Also, I've noted that WiFi does NOT use less battery power than 3G or 4G (despite what the battery optimization thread here says). It just sucks the battery dry, so I keep it off.

Your mileage may vary, of course... Please post and let me know if it works for you.

Since the update, my battery has been awesome.

I had my phone UnrEVOked before the update with the throttles cpu going and was getting awesome battery time. I was worried that after loosing the UnrEVOked that my battery life was going to go down the tubes.

Even if I leave wifi turned on all the time, my battery easily lasts all day into midnight before plugging it in.

depends on how much you use the phone. i have alot of widgets updating all the time so i usually get 16-20 hours with 3G/backgroud data on, moderate phone calls and alot of texting. right now 9 hours and 71 percent with heavy web browsing (2 hours or so)

Since the update, my battery sucks!!! I used to go through a whole day on the battery with moderate usage (surfing the web a bit in the morning, some texting and a few calls). Today I surfed the web for about 20 minutes and that's it. No calls, no texts and I've only received 3 e-mails. The phone has only been uplugged for 5h 47m 47s and the battery is already down to 46%. I don't use any task killers, I have the always on mobile data turned off, etc. I normally would have like 16 or 17 hours before the battery got to this level. After unplugging it this morning, the phone has essentially just sat on the table until now. Completely unused. I haven't added any apps or done anything differently than what I normally would. I even went into account settings and disabled the stocks and stuff that I didn't have turned on before. Wtf?!

Edit: I just did a hard reset. Hopefully this works.
