BATTERY SUCKS AFTER FROYO UPDATE !!!

That's what I did and mine seems to be running good now. And on a side note I don't seem to have such a wide fluctuation of signal after the update. Or they just fixed my tower issue either way I'm happy.

I performed another hard reset and setup everything except exchange, battery life seemed back to normal. I setup exchange and you could literally watch the battery drain. At that point I remembered we had a power outage at work over this past weekend and had to replace our Cisco ASA firewall, so I checked the timeouts on the replacement ASA and they were set for one minute. I set the timeouts for one hour and now my battery life is much improved, I'm no expert but it seems that the firewall was causing my phone to reconnect to exchange every minute. I hope that was it, if not I may just go back to my old sanyo flip phone!

Alright this may be an uber newb question but is battery life usually better when connected to wifi? Because I have been connected to wifi almost all day and have had my phone off the charger for 16H 16m. I NEVER get that long AND I have Good running which doesn't allow the phone to "sleep".

This might be a very newbie question, but should my cell standby % and my phone idle % be close in range? Mine right now is 40% standby and 37% idle. My phone has been unplugged for 14hrs now. Just curious, thanks for any help.

depends on how you use your phone, but yes that is possible.

I beg to differ considering it dropped before 2.2 released. Plus once you had 2.2 installed, it's set to automatic update in the Market.

I thought this too but since I upgraded to 2.2 my Apps don't auto update. I don't even get notifications any more to update my Apps.. I was looking the other day for where you go to do it or set it up?

The reason I ask is because when I read about the new Facebook App, I went to my downloads and 3 Apps said "UPDATE" next to them and I had to manually update like always....

I was gonna say that too. I havent got notifications since 2.2, however I am on .3 so not sure if that matters.

At first my battery seemed to drop much faster (about 10%/hour) but after I rebooted it, charged it back up now it drops about 5%/hour with moderate use. This includes Meebo on, Always On Data off, everything but gmail set to sync either manually or once a day and about 6hrs of actual use time between browsing/texting/IM/phone calls.

That said I was getting about 16-18hrs with 2.1, now I'm getting around 14-15hrs.

Has anyone else notice that Google Maps reboots your phone and when you boot back up your uptime and awake time runs at the same level when it's should be sleep?

Just noticed Qik Video Mail sync is set to 15 min by default, changed that to Only at Launch. Hope it helps.

Can someone explain how to do these:
Disable Always on Mobile Data, disable Google talk from automatically starting, keep WiFi turned on, disable roaming, and turn off CDMA roaming.

Also why keep wi fi on? That doesnt drain the battery?

It only drains the battery if there are no wifi connections around. But if you're in your house or at work and you have wifi available... you will see a big increase in battery life.

After going out and about early Friday with little time to play with the phone here and there my battery finally lasted me way over 16 hours. The more I put the phone away the longer the battery lasted. Now I just gotta stop playing with it at work so much. ;)

Yep, at home all day with heavy usage on Wifi I get around 20 hours on a charge. At Work with 3G and moderate use I only get around 16 hours.
