Best Buy Pre-Orders

I'm at best buy league city supposedly the power went out last night and don't know when they will open

For those wondering....i walked into Best Buy as they opened and went directly to the online order counter. There was 1 person in line in front of me. That person was there to pick up their S8 also. They were redirected to the mobile phone counter because the did in-store preorder. I ordered online, I was rang up handed my phone and walked out. No in store set up as I prefered.

In and out less then 20 minutes. They just scanned Barcode and didn't even open the box, now just to transfer everything from Galaxy S7 edge ☺️

In and out in 5 minutes. No appointment. Not one person in line. They didn't have to activate it didn't have to do anything. S8 Plus black in the bag! I got to go back to work now so I'm going to activate it later unfortunately

I peeked in the Box real quick I'm in a rush and I got to get back to work in 10 minutes and work is 15 minutes away. But anyway I peeked in the box and oh my God this thing is gorgeous unbelievable.

Not to worry anyone who grabbed and ran, but when I pick mine up, I'm opening and powering up in store to make sure I don't have the red tint screen issue. Some users are reporting it even in the US. Not that it's necessarily widespread, but if I have to swap it out, I'm right there.

Mine is still sitting at pre ordered.

The only difference is the cancel item is grey now.. that's it lol.

Can anyone confirm who did their preorder IN store (not online) for in store pickup that they did not have to activate it there in the store? I think policy is they have to, but curious if the anticipated crowds have modified the policy today.

Yeah that's a good idea I was in a rush honestly I think it's the Korean made models. Mine's of Vietnam made model so we'll see that's what I've deduced I could be wrong

I can tell you this much the girl that I saw even though I ordered online she said they cancelled activating them in the store because they're busy although there was no one in line I was five minutes so I don't know the mobile center look busy as hell I was at the counter for online pickup. I have a feeling they let you leave without activating it

I pre-ordered in-store for in-store pickup and they did activate the phone while I was there, but they did not open the box or install the sim card for me.

Cool, my poorly worded question was actually about them opening the box. It's irrational, probably immature and a bit OCD, but many of us actually prefer to be the first to touch and peel that plastic off. Like cutting the phone's umbilical cord.

I did an in store pre-order. I made a noon appointment for today. No one calls to tell me not to come and when I get there after waiting 15 minutes due to other activations they say my phone isn't there yet but I'll get an email when it is. I was pissed. I wasted my lunch break. Why couldn't they call me and say "your phone isn't in yet sir so don't come in for your appointment"?

Ordered online for pick up, 2 minutes to get phone, get receipt and walk out w phone. About 3 people and 5 BB staff at mobile desk activating phones for customers.

Question about unlocking, have not inserted my Cricket simcard yet, went to ATT unlock page and entered the IMEI from the box, it said it did not recognize it as an ATT imei??? Selected the not an ATT customer option to unlock. Should it be able to work or is the imei in the box different than the one in the phone? Is the phone too new to have the imei in their system?

Just tell your rep you want to open it. They HAVE to activate it. They don't have to open the box, but it's recommended to assure that the activation worked properly to prevent customer disappointment when they make it home and it doesn't work.
