Best Buy Pre-Orders

Does anyone know for sure if the unlocked version from Best Buy has Samsung Pay?
Previous unlocked versions that weren't from the big 4 could not be installed with Samsung Pay.
If it was the "F" unlocked international model that was not compatible with Samsung pay. But the unlocked listing in best buy is SM-G955U which is the official US version so Samsung pay will work. This year all US versions hardware wise are SM-G955U just different firmwares based on carriers and for unlocked it just won't have the carrier customization.

But good luck with any kind of software update on that. Last year Samsung ignored it completely, the US unlocked S7 versions still don't have Nougat.

I'm sorry that a few people didn't get their phones by release day, but there seems to be a lot of heartburn from people who got their phones on release day. It's not really fair to Best Buy or Samsung to get mad about getting exactly what you paid for. Same goes for the folks who "couldn't" make it to the store on Friday but were free on Thursday. I ordered with the understanding that I would get the phone on the 21st at the latest. I got it a day sooner and consider that a bonus. As for the promotion, it did say limited quantity so calling it a scam is a bit much. There are still VR sets available as far as I can tell.

My guess is this will be just like the outrage at United. These angry consumers will hate Samsung and/ or Best Buy right up until they want to buy the next phone and it's cheaper at Best Buy again.

I'm not very happy because I wasn't able to get the headphones, and I've got a million of the VR things around the house so I could care less about that. I don't blame best buy though, Samsung should have let them release it early since they let everyone else do so. I guess it's like I saved 200 bucks instead of just 100 lol

I called yesterday to see if the phone was in and was assured my phone was there and I could come in anytime to pick it up. I waited for 40 minutes while they "checked the back" only to come back and say it wasn't there. They had phones I could buy off the shelf but would have to cancel my pre-order and forego the $100 gift card and VR stuff. I checked online and order still shows processing.

Same BS here, except they for some reason got none of the S8+ Midnight Black AT&T even though I preordered weeks ago at the location. I ended up walking across the street to an AT&T store and buying one outright there. They tried to sell me every possible accessory when I told them in was buying outright, but I declined.

Same here. No S8+ Midnight Black AT&T at my store. They had them at other stores in the area though. I ended up grabbing an Orchid Gray because I saw it in the store and liked it better. Since I had ready missed out on the $99 bundle, I ordered online from my house. 15 minutes later I got the email that it was ready. 15 minutes later I was walking out of the store. Screw preordering next year. They didn't have my color last year for the S7 edge either. Just gonna wait until release day and pick from the available stock. I have 3 Best Buy's within an hour from house so someone will have the one I want.

I almost switched to the Orchid, but I didn't like that the frame had a purple hue to it. Frankly I almost wish I would have stuck with the regular sized S8 as the S8+ almost seems too big after using the Pixel XL and then the G6 for a couple weeks.

It's Best Buy, so of course something had to go wrong. Well, multiple things.. really. They really have a problem with reps saying something, and then later on it is discovered that this is not the case. If they don't know, they should find out the answer. Don't feed me a line of bull, and then think it isn't going to come back to haunt you later.

I pre-ordered in the store. Got the email the day before launch day that I could come in on launch day to pick it up. I call the store and ask what time, and they tell me they can't set appointments yet, and will be calling me to schedule one. No call came, so I got to the store 30 minutes before they opened to be the first in line. They start asking me if I have an appointment, to which I then tell the above story. They begrudgingly tell me to go to the register and someone will help me. I get 2 or 3 different stories from passing employees that I might have to come back later, or they might not have my phone, etc. Eventually one of them comes up with an S8+ in a box with my name on it, and a phone number I haven't had in 7 years. That's the number they tried calling, even though I confirmed my number with them they would be calling when I did the pre-order.

Second problem was the trade in. I was told I could get a best buy gift card, or they could send my phone back to Verizon from the store, for a credit. Turns out, I would have to mail it in, and they only give like 15 bucks a month off my bill for a year, and if I upgrade early, I would lose the rest of my credit. Screw that. Had to settle for a $205 gift card, and then explain all of this nonsense to the wife as she scowls at me and questions everything they told me like 3 times. Yeah, lots of fun.

Other than that, it went fine

So my receipt from best buy didn't have transaction date on it and rejected by Samsung. What did any of you guys use and did it get approved by Samsung?

I'm definitely not happy about the $99 promo running out before I even got my hands on the phone. But that's really a Samsung "bait and switch" kind of deal -- get $500 worth of stuff for only $99, but only if you pre-order the phone (and get your forms in BEFORE the phone becomes available to most of the public). I got the promo with my S7 Edge for a 256GB MicroSD card, and it wasn't even at the beginning of the phone's sale period, they didn't "run out," or any nonsense like that.

That said, I DO have a 256GB MicroSD card that I got for free, and I needed another one almost as much as I needed another armpit. I could care less about the stupid VR thing, but a friend wants me to get one so she can give it to her son. Still, I have a "cash register receipt" for when I picked up the phone on 4/21, with that date on it, plus some pre-order printouts. So, has anyone figured out what works to get even the stupid VR thing (which henceforth shall ALWAYS be referred to as "the stupid VR thing," as far as I'm concerned), though the promotion? I'm pretty sure I need the cash register receipt, since that has the actual phone information on it -- none of the pre-order documents have that. And so on. So, if anyone has gotten a Best Buy pre-order to work, I'm sure there are quite a few of us who would like to hear from you what worked.

Thanks!

You got screwed by Samsung not Best Buy.

No, I got screwed by Best Buy when they screwed up my order, then decided to just sit on it instead of contacting me, then when I tried to resolve, they lied when they said they had it fixed. (Story here if you care: http://forums.androidcentral.com/showthread.php?t=789576&p=5772840&viewfull=1#post5772840)

I agree that the Samsung promo was a borderline scam...not putting all the blame Best Buy for that part...but BB made a damn mess of my order, regardless.

I pre-ordered and got my phone through Best Buy, and from Best Buy's end of things, I really have nothing to complain about. My wife and I were both getting phones, and we were doing the BOGO deal with opening a new line on AT&T; and my wife was having to trade in her device and pay a small amount of it off to upgrade, so to make sure this all went smoothly, we decided to do the pre-order in store. Pre-order part went fairly smoothly, we got a call on Thursday to set up a time to pick up, set it for 5:00, after we both got off work. Other than being a little time consuming, mostly because of setting up a new line and such, everything went smoothly from Best Buy's end.

That being said, the whole $99 bundle thing has me fairly unhappy. I understand that it was limited quantities and such, and I did pick up my phone a little later in the day. If I had missed out on the bundle because of picking up my phone later in the day, I would have been disappointed, but I wouldn't have been upset. However, based on what I can tell, even if I had been able to get my phone as soon as the store opened, it wouldn't have mattered. I'm not really upset with Best Buy, I can't blame them for following the rules. I am upset with how it was handled by Samsung, but I don't think they are trying to screw people over, I think they just handled it poorly. First of all; 50,000 units for a phone that had that many pre-orders is awfully low. I understand that this was supposed to be a limited thing, so they weren't going to do it for everyone, but 50,000 still seems really low. Second, and more important, they needed to handle the registering for the Bundle differently, so that people who were lucky enough for whatever reason to get their phone before the official release date didn't have a huge advantage over those who had to wait until the official release date. Either not allow registration until the official release date, or hold a certain amount for availability on the 21st, or something. As it stands, Best Buy was advertising the $99 Immersive Bundle (I was given a sheet when I picked up my phone that told about how to do the promo, and the Bundle was obviously still listed on there); and very few, if any, Best Buy customers even got a chance at the bundle, because it was gone by the time the store opened.

I also have the best buy recipt but it doesn't have the pre order date. So used this one. Same as I did with the s7 edge and watch deal. Hopefully no issues

AND BTW SAMS CLUB GAVE THERE PHONES OUT THE DAY BEFORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SCREW YOU BEST BUY NEVER AGAIN WILL I GET SCREWED ON A BUNDLE I WANTED BUT SINCE YOU WERE LAST TO RELEASE WE GOT SQUAT.

SAMS CLUB can release them early freaking Best Buy can but sadly they do not care about how much business they lose over this. I hear the breaking release date crapola and it is crapola that is the old days as Samsung could give a crap.

But i promise all of you when a forum comes up for the Note and the new Iphone ill sure to be in there pleading with people to stay far far away from this crap joint.

I thought Best Buy that a great job for my order. People are getting mad at them for honoring the retail dates for carriers? Not BB fault that Samsung scammed on the $99 deal. Come on, 50K with hundreds of thousands of preorders?? Either this was a scam or incompetence. Not smart considering the Note 7 debacle. None the less, not BBs fault.

Wrong Sams CLub even sold them the day before so don't give me the kiss up to BB deal here for there honor of a date. it will be there fault as they lost sales as watch the next time when the Note comes out

Best buy can't even give you a correct receipt with a order date on it to be able to submit for the promo! Never will I pre order from there again! Screw them!
