Best phone I have ever owned

The processors are not the same, so I don't know why that is always being brought up. Much like Intel has multiple generations of processors, Qualcomm does the same with their Snapdragon line.

It was bad enough when people kept calling the Thunderbolt nothing but a "Verizon Evo". :p

I disagree, the Dinc is a bit too small for those of us with aging eyes! Don't get me wrong, I bought it the day it came out and I love almost everything about it with two exceptions. The battery life is not the best and the screen is a bit too small.

I've got an upgrade to use and have been agonizing over Dinc2 and TB. I have 4G here in CT and really want to get a 4G phone this time, but the fantastic battery life of the Dinc2 is hard to ignore. Still on the fence and may wait for LG Revolution to come out.

Oh and just for the record, I also hate the optical trackpad on my Dinc! Never use it, just a waste of space. ;)

Get the Droid Charge. I have heard great things about the battery and you get the 4.3 inch screen and a super AMOLED Plus screen. If I had 4G I would be tempted.

The original Incredible was Verizon's top HTC seller. It also received device of the month from Cnet for April 2010, and they rated it very high. I wanted to like the Incredible 2. But I don't and I am entitled to my opinion just like everyone else is. I am disappointed that the internal storage is less and yes I know about SD cards, but without mentioning the SD card, it is still less internal storage. It is good that it is global. I don't understand if they were upgrading the device why they short changed the design. They could have carried over the original design to a larger screen. I don't like the build quality either compared to the original. It feels cheap in my hand in my opinion. I love the build quality of the original. It is an elegant and handsome device, sleek and very much an eye catcher. The call quality and the speaker are amazing. Everything is great about this device. I feel the upgrade other than having a front camera and being global isn't much of an improvement for me to consider it. I also know others who are disappointed as well. When the BB Bold was released, the Tour was still in the line-up for awhile. I don't see why they didn't keep the original Incredible as well. HTC hasn't discontinued this device........Verizon did. But those who will need replacements for whatever reason won't have to be concerned because according to a manager friend of mine there are over 3000 in their inventory for replacement devices.
I also have a relative who had gotten the new one but switched to the TB saying the call quality wasn't as good as he thought it would be. It is not completely bad, but it isn't to my taste. If an upgrade is to be done it should have as good a quality build as the original. The retail price is 439.00 and the original was 569.00 This is my opinion and I am not cutting down anyone who gets this phone. It has its good points. I just think HTC short changed it and could had done better. The original stood up to its name and still is Incredible in my opinion.

Don't know how this doesn't have good build quality please elaborate. As far as internal memory they got rid of the useless internal SD. I've used the original and I much perfer the second. The soft touch coating around the exterior feels great the screen size in relationship to the body hit the spot. I'm able to get very good battery life out of it. My two day old dinc2 is outlasting my broken in fascinate . And as far as app memory I still have plenty of space left after downloading what I use

So what do you have your eye on then,Jude? A different Android coming out like the DX2,Charge, or LG Revolution? What about the BlackBerry Bold Touch 9930? :D

Don't listen to Jude. He/she constantly comes into the incredible 2 forums to bash it. It's obvious he/she really wants it, but for some reason can't get it.

People bash things they wish they had.

Of course you are entitled to your opinion but I dont know how you can say that the orginal Inc had a better build quality than the Inc 2. The Inc 2 is so much more high end feeling its not even funny.

See my above post. Jude is constantly bashing the inc 2 to make himself/herself feel better about not getting it.

But Zero has a Jose avatar... As awesome as Mysterio is, Jose is awesomer.

Side note: I saw a guy at Citi last year with a shirt that had the Jose chant written out on the back... I want one!

Had the phone for nearly a week now and still loving it!! i'm not saying it's the best phone i've ever had but it's pretty damn close! ;)

I, too, love my Dinc and just received the Dinc2 yesterday. Overall, it's a very nice phone and I'm still running it thru its paces, but for anyone interested in purchasing it, one big negative is that the SLCD display is somewhat polarized so anyone with polarized sunglasses will see a tinted (in my case it's purple) display. This only happens in portrait mode and it's fine when rotated to landscape, but I typically use my phone in portrait so this is a pretty big issue for me. Just something to consider in your in the market for the Dinc2.

Which should I get the Incredible 2 or the Thunderbolt. I like the Incredible 2's size over the Thunderbolt. But the Thunderbolt has 4g.

I honestly wouldn't get a thunderbolt if I was In a 4G area.

Uglier, terrible battery life, regular tft screen.

agreed. i'm in dc and had it for 3 days. was having connectivity issues and battery life sucked. but that was just what finalized the decision to return it. i was already considering because of how big, bulky, and heavy it was

the DINC2 is the perfect size and weight and really...you won't be using 4g that much. how often do you need that kind of data speed. its nice to have. but it kills the battery so its pointless

4g will be coming to my area in late 2011. I also think that the Thunderbolt has a better screen. Is that just me, or is the resolution better.

I just returned a Thunderbolt for an Incredible 2. I wasn't bothered by the Thunderbolt's size at all, but I still like the slightly smaller and thinner Incredible 2 better in the hand. I like the weight a lot better. I was worried the Tbolt would be too heavy and it was. For me. It was too noticeable in floppy loose shorts pockets as I walked. Dinc2 wins that one hands down.

4G is a lot faster. Some people here have reported insane speeds like 18mpbs. I was only getting 3-4 myself, but that was still 3-4 times faster than the 3G I was getting. For the ways I used it, it didn't matter a whole lot. I didn't feel like I was waiting around forever for pages to load. Certainly faster is better so score that one for the Tbolt.

The issue with 4G on the Thunderbolt is how fast it chews through the battery. It would burn it right up. Don't even think of getting a full day out of it. Not even close. But they make applications like LTE OnOff that allow you to toggle back to 3G at will. So a lot of people keep 4G turned off until they need it.

In my experience, the Thunderbolt had bad battery life even with 4G turned off. But be aware that there are lots of tweaks you can do to extend battery life. The simplest are things like using the screen on a dimmer setting (really not a big deal) and having your various services update less frequently. There are also things like Juice Defender that automate other tweaks to save even more juice. And then you can get into rooting and ROMing and kernels and all and can extend battery life even more.

So if you get the Thunderbolt, it will definitely require some active management to get good battery life and it will also depend on your usage patterns. "Good" is also relative. Some people report here that they really have no complaints about the battery. I think the majority do though, and they address that to varying degrees with varying levels of tweaks. Some get the extended battery, some don't want that extra bulk and weight and think it's ugly.

So far from what I'm reading here, the Dinc2 has great battery life. It's got a smaller screen, which is the real battery hog in these phones, so that's something. And it has no 4G, so that's no power drain either. Other than that, I don't know if it has better power management in general, but people seem to be pretty impressed.

The kickstand on the Thunderbolt is awesome. I loved it and used it all the time. On the desk at work, on the table at lunch, on the coffee table at night, on the nightstand overnight. It made it more of a media console than just a phone. It was even good for holding it in one hand in such a way to keep your hand and fingers out of the way of the screen. I'd slide the open kickstand between pointer and middle finger all the way to the base of the fingers and just kind of let it hang there with my hand behind it. Very secure and no chance of dropping.

Somebody mentioned something bad about the Thunderbolt's screen upthread. To my eye it was a beautiful screen. I don't care what the technology is called, it was delicious. It does almost disappear outside in bright sunlight, particularly if you're cranked down to 25% brightness, but I understand that's the case with a number of these screen technologies, some worse than others.

The Dinc2 is a world phone, so you could use it in Europe and most other places. Thunderbolt is US-only.

My Thunderbolt and another Thunderbolt I tried in the store had bad call quality. Scratchy, gravelly, gurgly, sometimes voices sounded like robots for a second, and little clips of speech would drop out at random. And people told me I sounded muffled, whereas they said I sounded crystal clear on a Dinc2 from the same store, and they sounded better to me. I couldn't keep the Tbolt for that reason. But plenty of people here have reported great call quality on their Thunderbolts, so YMMV.
