BestBuy: Galaxy Note 8 Pre-Order Thread

You'll loose all the carrier bloat and that annoying start screen with your carrier logo.
I only buy unlocked and also save monthly on service with Cricket, can't believe I waited so long to loose the big carriers and there poor customer service.
As far as specific not sure I have visual voice mail and all that

I thought I heard I would lose Wi-Fi Calling, which sucks because I use it when cell signal is crap.

You will lose wifi calling on unlocked phones.

I know for a lot of people that's not a deal breaker, but for me it might be. In the boonies cell signal is low so calls often complete over Wi-Fi. I was thinking buying unlocked was an alternative to rooting to get rid of bloatware because Samsung locks their bootloaders... guess I have to decide how badly I want to get rid of the carrier bloatware...at the expense of Wi-Fi calling.

Does anyone know how the VZW trade-in promotion works when pre-ordering through BB? Is it something I need to do now when checking out, or do I do that later.

Looking to trade in my Note 4 for an extra 240, which would bring the cost down to $500+ or so.

Ouch price from Samsung including trade in with tax $544 and no activation fee unlocked former N7 user
Also former Sprint user no looking back

options for getting the note 8?

So I am in the Note 7 club. I am currently using a pixel xl 128 black on verizon.

Because of some issues and errors (not sure how) I didn't start paying on my device until Dec. Even though I got my original pixel in Oct. It was a huge issue with verizon, of which was fixed (speaker phone issue was the phone problem that verizon exchange people and customer service people messed up).

So now I have 616 left to pay ( as of last billing cycle). I know that I agreed to join a yearly renewal when I got the note 7 in aug/sept and hoped when the note 8 came out we would be in a better situation.

As I see it. This new program does little to help me get out from under the pixel. The only solution I can think of is to pay off the pixel, then sell it will all my accessories and the daydream in hopes of getting over 616, then preorder the note 8 in hopes of getting one day one...... but then I am sol for the 50% discount and have to pay full price.

Am I seeing this correctly? Any other options out there? This discount doesnt seem to help me. If I had a back date from the note 7 launch I guess enough of the device would be paid so that the discount upon trade in may be worth it. Also most of us were stung 2x. not having the issue resolved until oct ( me dec).

I guess those that got the pixel xl 32 are in a better situation.

Not sure if its worth anything to complain to verizon or samung.

Sorry its so long and thanks for anyone who offers help.

I doubt complaining to Samsung or Verizon is going to do anything. The promo that everyone is seeing for previous Note 7 users is a nice gesture from Samsung but they can't control Verizon. As far as Verizon is concerned you bought a phone on an equipment plan so you will have to pay it off (one way or another).

Casey: If you purchase the Samsung Note 8 you will automatically receive a trade in Promotion on your account, the trade in should be done directly in a Verizon Store, please visit Direct store only to ensure you will get the Trade in amount.

This is what VZW chat told me.

I've run into trade-in problems before. I cannot speak for everyone else's experiences, but let me tell you that EVERY Verizon rep I have talked to has said that Verizon's trade-in promotions are only offered if you buy the phone directly from Verizon. To the best of my knowledge, Best Buy's trade in promotions are separate from Verizon's.

Does Best Buy even have the demos out yet? If so I'll probably stop by some time on Saturday to check them out.

Got mine ordered at BB in store.

The only problem I ran into was that they made me (or ATT made me) pay the balance due of my current device (through the NEXT plan). I chose the option of paying off and keeping my device. About $250.00.

BB is opening early on the 15th and are doing preorders by appointments.

Many do (usually no pen). Call your local store. If there is a corporate store for your carrier close by, call them as well.

I pre-ordered at best buy yesterday and I found out they are running the best trade in for the Note 8! They are giving you 150 off the phone, and 480 trade in on an S7E and a few other phones. It is a bill credit, making your monthly payment 12.50. I jumped all over that!

And like many others on the other thread, where do you see or get that? It doesn’t show on their site and I called them and they don’t have that. I personally think you are full of it.
