BestBuy: Galaxy Note 8 Pre-Order Thread

wow. it is gorgeous. arrived after its long trip across the US at only 60% so I'm charging it now. I put a case on in case (ha ha) I fumble, which is highly likely. screen protector will follow later.

YAY! FINALLY! I'm happy the ups turtles pulling that stage coach finally brought you your note 8.
 
Just claimed my promo gift from samsung. I didn't even have to take pic of reciept. I chose wireless charger and sd card. Last thing i gotta do is return orig. busted note 8. Which i'm kinda want to wait until friday so i can maybe return to a bb store.
 
Has anyone had any movement of their verizon orchid grey from best buy online pre-order? Mine still says processing even though the order email said delivery by 9/15...
 
That's disappointing. I got excited when people said they were getting orchid grey, but then realized they were on sprint.

Ordered Verizon Orchid Gray on 9/4. My order status has just changed from processing to preparing.
I am from Southern California.

is it wrong that I want to hold it and touch it??? can't stay away from it while it's charging. I want fast charging so I'm cord bound in another location from where I am. once it's happy I'll keep in on my wireless charger.
Haha not at all. I had to work today but kept picking it up just to look at it!
 
finally got my goodies submitted and approved. activation was trying. would not activate. tried four places. finally chat handled it.
 
I think you are right. I called Best Buy again today and they said the Unclocked Orchid Gray is definitely backordered. But the customer service rep insisted that the black one wasn't. I also called Best Buy credit service since I charged mine on their card. They said the charge was approved, but pending since in hadn't shipped, yet.

But as of 4.45PM EST, my order still hasn't shipped. I don't think they have enough and are just hoping and praying they get some more in.

Funny, I called BB today. It seems to be my new every other day hobby since I'm still not able to view my order status online. Here's how that went:
Rep: "Your order shows it's waiting release from Verizon"
Me: "What exactly does that mean?"
Rep: "I'm not sure. Hold please"

Two minutes on hold

Rep: "Ok, you're not able to view your order status because the phones won't release until Friday".

(😵The different stories I get every time I speak to a rep are almost comical at this point. Almost).

Rep: "Your arrive by date is 9/15".
Me: "That's in three days so if I'm going to get it on 9/15 that means it would need to ship in the next day or two, right?"
Rep: "yep"
Me: "And that color (gray) isn't on back order or anything, right?"
Rep: "No, it's not on back order".
Me: "So you have them in stock?"
Rep: "Yes"
Me: "Ok, thanks. Looking forward to receiving it in three days".

If it actually ships tomorrow or Thursday and arrives on Friday, I think I'll be shocked.
 
So I stopped by my best buy today to see what's going on and the manager said what everyone else said. They are going to call us on Thursday night to set a time to pick up on Friday, and they will be opening at 8. I can't wait!!!!

I was in the same boat that you all were in. I preordered in store at my local BB on August 25th. I was the first person in Raleigh NC to preorder in store. I was assured by the BB employee that it was the best way to preorder because I would be guaranteed a phone when they are released. This was my first experience preordering from them certainly my last. I came across this forum over a week ago and checked it religiously hoping one of my fellow note loving brothers and sisters would be able to give me some insight on BB in store releases. After reading many of the stories of people canceling their in store orders and pursuing the online route I decided I would give in store BB one last shot to give me a straight answer. I made my way over to the local BB where I preordered it and spoke with an employee who seemed like he was actually disgusted that he had to answer another question about a Note 8. I kindly asked if they were going to release in store early because it seems every single other person in the world has theirs not but me. (At least that's how it felt). And I obviously didn't want to miss out of any of the freebies like the rest of you. He assured me that no one else had their note and I was reading incorrect information on the internet. After being disrespected and defeated by the jerk in blue I went to my local Verizon store and discussed the issue with them. They assured me that if I order my note today (last friday) with them. They will happily get it to my by Tuesday (today). So obviously I did that. I marched back over to BB and found the gentleman who helped me do the preorder and explained my situation to him. He initially tried to give me the whole "don't do it, youll go to the back of the preorder line spiel, you may not get one until October if you do that". I told him Verizon is guaranteeing they can put one in my hand by Tuesday. He then said he will be right back, he needed to go talk with the GM. He left for a good 15 minutes, came back and said "sorry about that I got side tracked then went to go speak with the GM. After another 10 minutes and 25 minutes total of my lunch break wasted he returned saying it's not up to them when it can be released and all he can tell me is that the 15th is when they'll have them. I promptly cancelled my preorder, then went back to Verizon and spoke with the rep that helped me out before. We placed the order on that Friday, after a long impatient weekend of waiting and stalking the UPS tracking page it came today. I am happily typing this post on my new black Verizon Note 8. It would have come yesterday but the weekend and hurricane Irma seemed to hold it up a day (damn you Irma!!!!). I am very happy with the purchase and for those of you who don't have yours yet I am sorry you have to put up with BB's excuses for another 2 days but know it's worth the wait in the end! I have been a BB customer for a very long time and never again will I deal with them for anything.

But this is exactly how I feel. I'll be suprised if mine ships at all. As of 11:27 PM EST, it has not shipped. Mine was supposed to arrive by the 15th, also.

But I called another Best Buy store. The lady I spoke with indicated that if you pre-ordered it for pickup in the store, that it should be there on Friday if that was the date you were supposed to get it. She looked in the computer and could see the orders of the unlocked phones for store pickup. But she didn't know if they were going to get any extra unlocked phones. So, I don't know if you'll be able to purchase an unlocked version in the store. It seems like they won't have or give out that information until the 15th.
 
It surprising how many people are going unlocked and that Samsung released the unlocked for preorder
 
this will be an amazing device once I get all the crapola removed. man have they filled it up with worthless apps. Sprint and Sammy outdid themselves with the bloatware this time. I can understand why folks get unlocked devices.
 
The unlocked version is just carrier unlocked right? Not bootloader unlocked?

I think it is still locked, or they'd already have root on xda. double check there, but pretty sure. I've decided to root again just to be fully rid of all the junk. man, Samsung...
