If for some reason your phone isn't ready on Friday, please don't take it out on the in store associates or even the in store managers. They have no control over inventory and sometimes they're just as in the dark. 1-877-702-2211 is the number for Best Buy Mobile support. May take you a few tries to get a helpful phone rep, but they're better equipped to handle inventory complaints than anyone in the store.If they don't have my phone Friday, then I'll complain. Until then, I'll hold off judgment.
I agree with you 100%. Having worked for Best Buy, I would not EVER pre-order a device with them. True they have some great promotions, however, their pre-order system is a mess. They can't tell you how devices they have in. You can pre-order while thinking that you're gonna get your device on release date and then come release date, find out that is not the case. Best Buy's logic is that when you pre-order, that doesn't mean that you're gonna get your device on release day. It just means that you're gonna get a device....that's all.
We were told that when customers pre-ordered, we were directed to tell the customer that we cannot guarantee that you will have your device on release day, but you should.
You're also correct that Best buy only gets a certain amount or pre-orders in. If you pre-ordered as soon as it went live, then you should be fine. However if you pre-ordered a little bit later, you may not have your's on release day.
I've experienced one other time where they did not get the phone the day of release. There's nothing they can really do about it though. This time around the employee actually showed me the pre-orders they had an I was the 7th total so he said I would be ok as long as they come in. He also kept saying their store wasn't a "busy store" so they would have plenty? I would think they wouldn't order as many in their store was not considered "busy". We'll see...
