This is why I always do a complete phone wipe before upgrading the OS. I've been doing this since when I had a Blackberry.
What's the difference between a "wipe" as in BB vs. Factory Restore as in DX? I've been thinking they are equivalent. No?
Thanks Fabian for all this info. I've done at least 5 Factory Resets and was astounded to discover my apps restored each time no matter what I did. I have to say, though, even this helped smooth the glitches. When I work up the energy to re-install missing apps and update settings for everything one more time, I'll be following your directions.
You mention LP+ and I think it's important: I agree LP+ causes problems on 2.2. I've tried using it multiple times and finally uninstalled it (sniff!). None of the native widgets I tried would work properly with LP+. However, there is so much good stuff in 2.2 that about the only thing missing from LP+ is the revolving dock (which, unfortunately, IS a great loss).
Again, many thanks!! (PS - You would think this would be a lot simpler to do - it's so fundamental to a clean install.)
