Bionic's still coming, is defintely new hardware - XT875

iPhone 5 Will not be "competition" for the Bionic, at least not much of one. Someone said earlier and I believe this to be true, iPhone 5 is not an LTE device, Bionic is. iPhone will be waging war with SG2. Anyone that wants an LTE device will have only one relevant option and that will be the Bionic.

Do you even understand how potent a force the iPhone hype machine is? The bionic could have a 2ghz processor, a 20 megapixel camera, and a 4.5 inch 1280x800 screen and the next iPhone would STILL destroy it sales wise if they went on sale at the same time.

I mean seriously guys. The bionic is going to be a great phone, but if you honestly think that it can compete against the iPhone you're deluding yourself.

This discussion of the release date timing with the iPhone is funny. I was on the phone with a Verizon rep last night and he told me to expect the Bionic around the same time as the iPhone because that would be ideal. WTF?

Nobody is arguing that fact droid800. Lets get back to speculating and talking nonsense that makes absolutely no sense at all except to us.

i tend to agree with you guys. but, at some point, someone's gonna have to just take on the iP head-to-head. this might be as good of a time as any: iOS' market share is slipping; Andy's market share is rising exponentially, and is even with iOS; spec-wise, the Bionic would seem to be a better piece of hardware. it would either be a huge coup, or a monumental suicide mission - probably the latter, but who knows...

I am not arguing iPhone sales are not going to hurt the Bionic. But way I see it they are not the same market group. We are talking 3G vs 4G. If bionic were a 3G phone, then moto might as well pack up and shut down shop because there would be nothing else to compete with the iPhone except SG2. And not to rain on Sammy's parade but my guess is sammy's sales would be 1 to every 500 iPhone sales.

However, Dual Core beast on 4G LTE by a very reputable company... MOTO, now that is going to be something for people to sink their teeth into. Again, just my opinion. People who want 4G vs people who want 3G. Ive said before I will not look at a 3G phone, and i stand by that. I would love for Droid-Life to take a poll of people who are willing to sign a 2 year contract on a 3g phone at this point in the game vs people who will only sign on a 4g contract. Just curious.

If an android phone is going to take on the iphone its going to need stellar, off the charts, build quality.

I dont know... The 4g vs 3g argument is valid. Plus what is the i5 bringing to the table? I dont know because I already know that im probably not going to get one so I havent researched. Apple is a household name but depending on what verizon markets well will be a huge factor. If the bionic is the last phone to have the unlimited data, I see things going better for the bionic. I am just wondering why the switch is being made later as opposed to now. The only 'hot' items now are the i5 and bionic right? My guess is the bionic is the last unlimited phone left. No sense in waiting any longer. Also, releasing both phones at the same time is actually brilliant. That will give verizon a major boost to their numbers for the year in one fell swoop. They will be able to ride the rest of this year with both phones blowing up.....

Side note, is the i5 even coming to vzw? Pardon my ignorance.

Speaking of Apple they are playing hardball and messing with Samsung. Check out the Samsung SII area and the thread labeled waiting for SII or S2. May be what tipped the May 24 event into being canceled.

Anyway, back one topic.

BMX is leaving the phone/verizon scene. People hurry up and bug him for a picture of the bionic before he does, if he has one.

Yes, it is. No delay to February this time though. And Verizon isn't stupid enough to release the bionic after, or at the same time as, a new iPhone.

I realize that the next iPhone is a big hype beast, but I don't see it drawing huge numbers of people that don't already have one. Your typical iPhone user isn't someone who seems to place huge importance on hardware specs, as long as the phone works and works quickly. If it doesn't bring any easily tangible improvements, such as a faster network technology, I don't see it being a huge deal other than to people who weren't eligible for their upgrade when the iPhone4 came out on VZW.

However, I still recognize how ridiculously over-hyped each device is, and how much people flock to get them. It would be foolish to wait until right before its launch to drop the Bionic. If the Rev launches this week, then it should have a few weeks and then the Bionic should drop mid-late June. Any later and there'll be so many other devices out that it'll just be an also-ran. I realize that there are difficulties with getting a device ready in this amount of time, but the fact is Moto has too much riding on it to not bring it by then. This is a do or die thing, and if Moto can't make it happen when the stakes are this high, they may as well give up now. Yes, its difficult, but mobile devices, just like the auto industry, is one of the most competitive sectors right now, and if you can't handle difficulty then you have no business competiting. Its as simple as that.

Wnrussell has spoken. Targa will drop 2 months after d3. Claims it will definitely be worth the wait

I refuse to wait until august for something originally announced in January...
