Bionic's still coming, is defintely new hardware - XT875

Lets step back and look at what the Rumored Targa was "supposed" to be packing:

OMAP 4440 dual core 1.5 GHz processor
4.3" qHD
12-13MP Camera on the Back
1.3-2MP Camera on the Front
768-1Gig of Ram

This was all speculation but we do know that Moto was very interested in the OMAP 4440 and thats one of the reasons it was believed to be in the Targa.

Soo... My money would be this is a MOTO device and not an HTC.

I think it is the Bionic that he is talking about. Why would it be an HTC phone? It wouldn't make sense for Verizon to come out with another HTC phone with LTE before the Bionic is released, no matter what the specs are. I say its the Bionic and another phone from HTC will be out by the end of the year that matches these specs.

It sounded like some rumored specs for an HTC device due out late 2012.

To the poster above, I hope you are right. If this is the bionic, all we need is an unlocked boot loader and we are golden.

I just hope it launches with Gingerbread and new blur. If the Xperia play will be the first gb device than this should be second. Even if that delays it a month it would better to launch with GB in place not imho.

New tweet from @black_man_x today shines some light on the new Bionic specs and they are tremendous...

Except for the 12mp instead of the 13 mp camera, this all but mirrors the rumored specs of the "Targa"(aka bionic). I have a hard time not believing this is the specs for it and I do recall BMX saying he was to be putting in for a bionic test phone to recieve after his vacation (I just wonder if he got it early LOL).

Notice what you said...2012! So this is definitely the Bionic. No way Verizon releases 2 HTC LTE phones in the same year. I know that MOTO better release the bionic in the summer, preferably before I go to the beach for the 4th of July. I have confidence that its a Motorola product.

Regarding the above tweet from BMX: Winston25, a reliable and respected source over at HoFo, just posted that if BMX is referring to the Targa (aka new Bionic) then he is off. Don't shoot the messenger, just reporting what I've read.

If someone that is able to get their hands on a unit then I don't consider them to be off...I just wish that bmx and Winston25 would meet up and talk about what they know...that would be a conversation I would be interested in ease dropping on!

It's been speculation on here that the device is (1) real, and (2) might be the new Bionic. I think you have to get by the first issue first -- is it even a real device? Or is he really, just asking? BMX is always spot on, but let's not get too far ahead of ourselves here (even though there's not much else to do while we wait, and wait, and wait).

Why can't.Motorola just release this phone as a 3g phone to start then do.what they are comma do with the xoom? At least them it would be released then they can continue to research the 4g problems.

in addition to what has already been said, the Bionic (as demo'd at CES) no longer exists. what they're doing is taking a phone that was in development for a later release (the Targa) and renaming it as the Bionic to "save face." but, the Targa (ie, "new" Bionic) isn't ready for release.

given that BMX previously said that he had put in a request for a Bionic tester, and then he followed up later with this tweet on specs, i'm assuming (and hoping) that he is referring to the Bionic and not a HTC device.

and i'm with CK - as long as they don't divvy up the ram to a webtop OS, this phone is gonna have some serious legs!!

You understand that and I understand that but it is misleading given that he said he was going to possibly get a test device. Its poor timing is all.

That's why I immediately said it sounds like an HTC and to ask if it was TI OMAP or Qualcomm. It would end all the useless speculation and save some of these folks some aggravation which I'm sure they are experiencing right now after this news.

When it was revealed that wnrussell over at HoFo said the original Bionic (Etna) was going to be cancelled, BMX countered by flat out stating that there was no way in hell it was going to be cancelled and we all know how that turned out. Just sayin'.

He won't give you anything or answer any questions regarding specs. He/they leak info on their schedule and when they can. You will see it's well choreographed how they do things. When the launch gets near they will speak up but until then you will be barking up the wrong tree asking them whats off and whats not. They won't answer you I'm surprised he even shot down the "tweet." But I guess before it got real ugly he decided to speak up and squash it.

Just be patient. You will get the info when the time is right not a minute before.

I was really surprised he said anything at all in response to BMX's tweet. Just seemed odd.

My patience is shot, the right time to announce specs for a phone to me would have been two months ago to keep those holding on, well... holding on and not jumping ship to another phone.

The only thing I can speculate as to why they wouldn't announce anything to keep those of us interested, is that they haven't proven out whatever they are working on enough to feel comfortable to announce anything. If there is a chance that something may still have to change, they are going to keep tight lipped.

Just my guess but if they had nailed something down already and was 100% sure that it was what was going to be released to the public, we would have leaked spec's by now.
