Buyer beware on the Newegg Icon. It's used, and comes with only one eargel. Read the reviews first. Sure convinced me not to take the chance.
Cubfan is correct. I only checked on this AFTER pounding the 'Accept' button to complete my purchase. I saw the OEM classification, but where I grew up, OEM means not wrapped in a pretty dress and no ribbons about the hair. It doesn't mean refurbished, openbox, or 'here someone else had a problem with this unit so you can have it for half price'.
So beware if you find yourself flirting with The Egg!
I did go back and read some of the reviews on my particular item, most seem to say the unit work as expected with no degradation of function, but everyone was highly pissed of the obvious used condition and the lack ear gels. Seems as though you can tell if a previous owner popped the headset's cherry,... their phone #'s show up in the pairing process and/or the during MyTalk registration. I think I read of one DOA when reading the reviews, which is about on par with virgin units. Tracking says I can expect my Icon tomorrow!
Here's something interesting,... both Cnet and PC Mag picked the Icon as their Editor's Choice in Feb. review of the headset. Last month, each reviewed the Q2 well after laying that honor on the Icon. In each of their reviews, they both stated that while the Q2 got a 4 out of 5, the headset didn't bring enough to the table to unseat the Icon. There are some other interesting "Expert" reviews out there averaging out at about half and half on these two headsets. I put
expert in quotes because a lot of times they're nothing but hot air bought and paid for. Sometimes, I find consumer reviews to be more reliable.
And what about this Sound ID 510 thing that keeps popping up in my google searches. I haven't heard any chatter about it. It there a reason? Or is it just that new?
