is there need to flash dual FS kernel befor flashing Bonsai 4 on Stock EC05+CWM 2.5

I ODIN'd back to stock EB13 and rooted with CWM 2.5. (Previously I had CWM3+ext4+Bonsai 3.1)
After this I ODIN't the EC05 modem.
Now to get onto Bonsai 4, do I need to flash any dual FS kernel once I install CWM3 and the ext4 FS conversion completes, or does the Bonsai4 ROM has inbuilt kernel that supports ext4 fs?

I ODIN'd the EC05 modem on a deodexed, EXT 4 formatted phone running midNIGHT 4.2 ROM... I am having zero issues two days later... when I look at about phone, I am still on the bonzai 3.0.0 kernel, my firmware says ECO5, and my software is the midNIGHT ROM... all that changed was the modem, from EB13 to EC05... I haven't tested enough regarding data efficiency, but battery life seems comparable...

I can't completely confirm this 100% but I did try it once when I was attempting to flash the "leaked" EC05 stock ROM from Bonsai. Anyways..

I flashed the EC05 modem, and had issues so I went back to CWM to flash ACE or something else to get up and going again and when I tried ACE it aborted installation at the modem install part of the script. I'm guessing because ACE was trying to push the EB 13 modem when I had the EC05 modem and it caused an error and aborted the installation. Anyways I couldn't flash any ROMs at that point and ended up using Odin to get out of it because I had no CWM backups at that time to restore to and I'm not sure if that would of even made a difference with the modem being flashed.

Bottom line, if you want to be a "test dummy" then go ahead but I would stick with EB13 modem on EB13 ROMs until you hear different.

Bonsai v4.0.0 has the kernel built into the ROM, no need to flash. Only the modem has to be updated threw Odin.

Since I updated to EC05 the battery indicator hasn't moved. It's been stuck on 26% since last night. Does this mean I got a "forever" battery? :)

Could be a bad flash or bug in the ROM. You may want to post a question about it at the Bonsai site.

i've been trying to get the bonsai rom for the last couple of days and it still says access denied

Thanks but i'm on IE and still can't get it...oh well

Been on this ROM for 24 hrs and so far fairly good battery life and 100% stable... quick question for those who have been on Bonsai longer... I fired up GPS status and noticed an ad at the bottom... does this ROM for some reason not have ad blocking built in? I had to install AdFree manually on this ROM... it's been a while since I saw any ads and assumed blocking was standard... do I need to update something in settings within the ROM to enable native ad blocking, or was it just not included accidentally? Thx

Noticed the same. Ad blocking must not be baked into this ROM.

On a side note, I wonder why there has not been a lot of attention paid to this ROM. Everything seems to be working with it, it benchmarks as fast as most other ROMs, and real world usage is impeccable. On EB13 roms I tried Midnight, Syndicate, and Ace. There was always something lacking so I always ended back with TER 1.5 (DK28) which had everything working except fully functioning bluetooth (voice dialing). Now Bonsai has it all working out of the box. Wondering why it doesn't get all the attention it deserves.

So I converted to ext4 and and installed the bonsai rom that is supposed to be EC05 but has the EB13 modem. Everything is working great except the Blutooth. I was reading through so much yesterday that I forget where I saw it, but I remember seeing something about the Blutooth having issues with one of the installs. Also, I remember having this problem last month with one of the other installs and I feel like one of the roms had a Blutooth fix in it or something. Can anyone help with this?

Because the Bonsai team got their thread deleted from XDA due to requiring users to download their ROM from a different website. No thread on XDA = no visibility to their usual audience.

I answered your question in this thread. In the future, please refrain from making the same post in multiple threads:

I agree with you on why there hasn't been more attention paid to this ROM. The one thing I wanted was a daily driver that performed well as I use my phone for business not an overclocked speed demon that I would have to worry about crashing on me. I use blue tooth almost exclusively with 2 Plantronics, a Voyager Pro and a Voyager 520 and I have no issues. And the program performance is very quick and have not had a single force close and when I had a couple of questions about some mods the developer was very quick to respond amost as quick as Paul627G, I wish he hadn't stop developing that seemed like a pretty smooth ROM to.

Well nobody has said I "stopped for good" just things are on hold until more materializes with EC05. Trust me I have been working my butt off behind the scenes trying to make stuff happen.

Yes, Bonsai is a solid ROM.. It has always aside from my workings with ACE and TER been my favorite ROM. Mammon has always produced a quality ROM and usually won't do a release unless he has all possible bugs eliminated.

Sorry for the noob question, to flash the modem on odin, is it just the .tar file? The screen capture on bonsai's website showed a .pit file in odin. Thanks.

Actually on Bonsai's site they now have a flashable modem update available. Flash it in CWM just like anything else.

I attempted that, but I got an error, so thought I would try the odin version
Yes the Odin version is just a .tar file.

Just place it as is, in its zipped form in the PDA slot on Odin and check Auto Reboot and click Start. Should take a whole 30 seconds at the most to flash it.
