I've bought the odd numbered Pixels, so a 2 year cycle for me. For various reasons, the P2 and P4 iterations did not appeal to me. Battery life was the main reason for upgrading, though 5g on the P5 was pretty compelling too.

Finally, Google put out a phone with a great battery, so I may even go 3 years before I next upgrade. Undoubtedly to another Pixel.

Poll doesn't matter much to me...I never even look at other phones, so its 100% here.

Not really caring what others use...

Yeah That's exactly how I feel! I absolutely love my 5 and I wouldn't go to any other company. If I REALLY wanted to I might try out OnePlus. However, I'm not so sure that all of their top-end phones are compatible with Verizon's LTE/5G network. That's the problem. I'm a Googler for life!

I agree. And I’m not so sure about customer service if a OnePlus phone needs to be sent back in it may take a while to get it back. At least with the major manufacturers, they will send you a replacement so you’re not without a phone. I too, have to have a phone that is compatible with Verizon. They simply have the most reliable service where I’m at.

It’s ironic how if you go to the OnePlus forums you hear a lot of people complaining about their phones and only posting about the problems they’re having. Maybe it’s price and expectations. They pay a premium price and have unrealistic expectations about what that price is supposed to buy them. They are also not as good with quick updates as they used to be. When a company has several different models of the same phone out there to update, it makes sense that there’s liable to be issues.

Yeah, come to think about that, that's another good point to keep in mind. Yes, I have always had Verizon, and will most likely always have Verizon Wireless service. With that being said, OnePlus phones are very good, however, Verizon just won't certify them for their network. At least not as of now. Verizon doesn't even really allow unlocked phones to be connected to their network either. Yes, it's all about network security at the end of the day, but it is what it is. That's why OnePlus phones have always been on T-Mobile's network. I was watching most of the YouTubers reviews last night, and well, the newwer Hasselblad camera system does seem better. However, when Marquees Brownlee tested it out, he said there is a weird quirk with it in that the picture you thought you were taking, you don't' actually take. The picture that the phone actually takes, isn't as clear or sharp or is a bit more blurry than the picture you were trying to take. I will though say that the 9 pro is a much better attempt at camera setups though! That's for sure.

I haven't been to their phone forums, but yeah, if you're going to be paying upwards of $1,000 for a OnePlus flagship phone, you have the expectations of good company customer service, and also that the software updates are timely and whatnot. These are two areas where I just don't have the experience wit the company, and might never have the experience either.

They made a specific version of the OnePlus 8 for Verizon's mm wave 5G network. Did Verizon not sell it?

Yeah, I heard about that. I think I saw it once in my local Verizon store. However, it's not like any of the Verizon sales reps were pushing that phone. I'm sure they barely even knew who OnePlus was as a company. Again, they are not very well-known at all.

The Verizon 1+8 was slightly different than the unlocked version. I know that the buttons were different so you’d have to buy a case specifically for it. Leave it to Verizon to mess with something like this. I have a love hate relationship with them because they don’t allow most unlocked phones and because of stupid stuff like this. But they do have the best service in my area. So I will continue to use them.

Yeah, I will agree with you! For Chinese manufacturers such as oppo, xiaomi, OnePlus, they're very unknown and unpopular in the state's beard especially OnePlus. I mean if you want to buy one plus phone and somehow try to activate it and use Verizon LTE / 5G signal on Verizon Wireless, good luck! Verizon Wireless has such a good service, I will probably never give them up myself. I mean that's all be honest about this too, Verizon Wireless knows that. As far as their network security and not allowing unlocked phones onto their network to be activated, I'm not saying it's a good or bad thing it's a business decision too. Versus T-Mobile we're now around pretty much any unlocked phone in the world to be activated on their network with a SIM card... It's just a different strategy for network activations. What I enjoy/one to try to use a 1 + 1 for myself? Sure, but at the end of the day also I love my pixel, I'm a googler, and I'm not going to lose any sleep over it so to speak lol hahaha I do feel slightly mad for people trying to activate and unlock OnePlus 9 pro on Verizon Wireless's network. That's for sure...

I really want to buy a Pixel just for the camera, but all the stuff I hear about hardware failures of various types keep me afraid to do it. The best phone camera I ever had was on my Nexus 5X - I still think it takes the sharpest pictures of any phone I've ever owned. Of course that phone didn't have a stellar reliabilityreputation either, like a number of other LG-made phones of that era.

Haha edited for typo - the Nexus 5 has a pretty terrible camera. Not as bad as the 4, but pretty bad.

Hahaha that's funny! Yeah, I was going to say my Nexus 6/6P cameras sucked! I will say that coming from a Pixel 3 XL and having a Pixel 5 now, the camera software and the software overall along with the core Google apps that I'm sure you use were flawlessly! I've had no issues whatsoever with my phone and I absolutely love! Would never go to any other Android phone other than a Pixel. I hope this helps you out. ???????????????????????? I'm telling you with my Pixel 3 XL, it only had 4 gigs of RAM, and it never stuttered, lagged, or even slightly hiccuped. With 8 gigs of RAM Pixel 5 is a beast!

Good point. Google customer service is underrated. I've had a couple phone issues through the years and never had a problem getting it settled with Google. If a short chat session or phone call didn't fix the issue, an RMA was quickly sent and a replacement was express shipped.

There aren't any rampant hardware failures with the P5. Some people don't like the phone for various design or hardware decisions that were made by Google. But the hardware and software of the phone work fine. You won't be disappointed.

Also, good edit. I was scratching my head about the Nexus 5 camera. I thought it was pretty good for its time, but certainly didn't hold up.

The Nexus 5X was absolutely awful with many hardware/software issues. The Pixel 5 quality is light years better.

If you want the *best* camera on a smartphone, it's no longer the Pixel. Competition has surpassed it.
If you want the best camera on a $350/$500 phone, then the Pixel might be the best at those price ranges.

But yeah, QC seems to be an issue with Pixel phones, and you always see horror stories on Reddit about Google's support for people who have faulty devices. If you're concerned about reliability - Apple hands down is the best OEM. Best hardware QC, best support. Samsung would be 2nd.

I'm sure all that sort of stuff weighs into increasing numbers of Pixel users wanting to switch away from Pixel.
