Hi. I just had a problem similar to that and got it fixed. It might help some of you guys.

You'll need:

1. A male micro USB to female USB cable.

2. A USB storage device with a downloaded custom Rom.zip for your device.

4: acces to custom recovery.

What to do:

1. Enter recovery:

Boot the device by holding the volume Down button + power button.

Lg logo shows: release and repress buttons. (Press yes to factory reset a couple of times if asked)

2. Connect usb and copy the rom.zip to your device.

Go to Mount > USB otg.

Go to advanced > Filemanager.

Find Usb otg > Rom.zip

Copy it to internal memory.

3. Install zip.

Go to install and find your Rom.zip on your device

4. Reboot and all done.

That worked for me anyways. Hope this helps somebody.

No codes in the post above yours. If you're talking about the other fix (using the dd command), enter one, press the enter key and you'll get a new prompt. Then enter the second one and press enter. Standard command-line stuff.

before trying anything else just type in these commands

What worked for me was from the TWRP terminal command was to type

dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/fota

then hit enter

type

dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/misc

then hit enter and reboot.

got help from the IRC xda-devs for the second step to complete the fix.

Dude, you are the best.

I signed up to AC to thank you only!

I got the first code from a local forum and couldn't fix my phone, and just found your message here, added the second code and it worked perfectly!

Thank you so much again!

Can somebody please help me out. When I enter in the command and press enter it just says simulating actions and nothing. I sold the phone and informed it was rooted. But miscommunication happened and the owner installed the ota. Anything I try in TWRP says it failed. It's on 2.8.0.1. I'm desperate for some help here.

EDIT: I found the resolution. Executed the command via adb after UNINSTALLING all lg drivers. Hope that helps anyone out in the future.

uhhh. I am already happy I got this site. Its not working for me though. Do i just connect my cell phone, open cmd and type this, or do i open cmd elsewhere. I know this will be my breakthrough solution, I just want a little finishing. Please HELP

Just wanted to confirm that this methos also works with Verizon lg g3. My girlfriend accepted the new update and got stuck at twrp screen. Thanks for that post, it saved me having to reinstall a three week old backup.

I also saw the error messages, but i could see that it still tranferred MB, so i did both steps reboot, and was happy (oddly enough) to see the verizon logo pop-up on the reboot instead of twrp.

I did have a question about the update though. I have always had a nexus device until now, so upgrading was not an issue before for me, but since I am rooted and I have twrp as my recovery, how can I go about installing the update so that I can get rid of the notification to update. Obviously if I try to do the update again, it will just return to soft brick at the TWRP screen. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Restore the stock ROM unrooted. One of the first things an update does is check that the ROM is stock something (it doesn't have to be current, an older ROM will be updated to the last current one first), and not rooted (since there's no telling what you did if you had root access - and some of the things you can do will cause the update to brick the phone). If you can, restore the stock recovery too.

Yes, this works for the Verizon LG G3. Just did this and it worked perfectly.
It doesn't matter what folder you are in when entering the commands, I just did this from root.
You can manually install the OTA update and disable the notification.
I cannot post links since this is my first post, but search for "No OTAs" and you will find the page with the info.
