So when you get to the part to enter a pin... a mobile hotspot popup shows telling to contact att... and closes the process.

Has any one been able to connect to it?

...and remember, dont just say yes. explain how you did it.;)

I just tried that, too, but it says to contact AT&T about enabling a mobile hotspot. Why is this necessary? Is there away around it?
I don't get to the part about entering a pin...

im on the phone with both att and htc... apparently neither of them actually tried it on the att variant... its clearly a problem with the bloatware... yet they still have me on hold lol

I called AT&T, too and she told me I had to get the 5gb plan to enable the mobile hotspot feature. But I don't understand why that is needed...both the media link and the phone are on my home network. Let us know what you find out please.

ok just got off the phone, 70 min later, and she told me that they submited a case order that will "put their top scientists on it". (my words not theirs lol)

i will be contacted within 48 hours with an update, she said.

This happened with me too. It worked fine with my One X, so something weird is happening with the new One. It better get fixed soon.

Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 2

This happened to me but I was able to connect. What I had to do was turn mobile data to off and then disconnect from my wifi. It seems like the ATT software is considering using your mobile data while sharing your screen with media link to be using a hotspot. So it tries to block you if you don't have the hotspot plan.

This did not work for me unfortunately. Even when I disable mobile data it just fails and asks me to reenable it in the settings

I got it to work once for a while.. not sure how. Then when I tried to do it again, it wouldn't connect at all. So frustrating.

I ran into the same problem and called HTC yesterday. They said it was a known bug and I should call them back in a couple of days.

I will try this solution tonight. But it obviously is only a temporary fix. I don't understand disconnecting from wifi. How would the phone communicate with the device? And for that matter, I understand adhoc wifi connection directly between your phone and the media adaptor. But how does it connect through your home wifi? When I set it up, it didn't ask for my WEP password.

So with this method I was only able to connect to the media link. If I try to connect to wifi while connected to media link it seems to break the connection.

One interesting thing that kind of worked was putting my phone into airplane mode then connecting to my wifi, then connecting to media link. Unfortunately this let me use wifi while connected to media link but after a minute or two it always disconnects giving a message saying it is unable to turn on USB tethering.

Interesting. I just tried, and it worked just fine for me.

Can anyone tell me what software version their Media Link is on? (I'm on 5.19.102.1)

Interesting... mine is 5.19.103.1

So that narrows it down to a broken firmware update and not att bloat.

thanks Phil!

I'm having the same issue and the media link software version is 5.19.103.1. Can't believe they put out products without proper testing. This is frustrating :(

This worked for me, too. But as soon as I turned on wireless, it disconnected and threw errors about a network problem causing problems with mobile hotspot.

I had the same problem when syncing my HTC to tv. I actually sync once and I was able to watch a short video I shot on the phone. I tried to watch a clip from youtube lost sync and it never came back. I took the unit back to ATT, they gave me a new one, I connected it to my tv and low and behold the same problem again. So I called ATT, they had no clue what i was talking about, knew absolutely nothing about the Media Link. To ATT credit they made a soft transfer to HTC for me. The HTC support tech stated "there is a known software issue with the Media Link preventing it from syncing with the One that will be addressed with a software upgrade to which he had no idea as to when it will be available".
