Can't turn off lock screen on my Note 4

For those still having trouble (and Clear Credentials is grayed), try this:

Go to Settings-->General-->Users and delete any other user profile that you may have activated (be sure to delete Guest if you activated it, but be aware, Guest will always be available and listed, even if it was never activated).

To delete a Users profile, switch to that user, go back to Users settings and choose the delete option. Do this for all but the Owner profile.

Switch back to the Owner profile (if it doesn't switch back automatically); it should be the only one left. Now, if you go into the Lock Screen setting, None should be available as an option.

Good luck and, I hope this helps.

This happened on my Samsung Galaxy TabPRO SM-T900 12.2" with Android 5.1.1 - your options may be in a different location if you have a different model.

I had the exact same problem. I found somewhere online that you need to "Clear All credentials" in Settings->Security. It is not as bad as it sounds and it worked for me.

Thank you so much this has been bugging me for a few months now😒

Thank You Guys!!! I had the exact same issue with my galaxy note 4, and after clearing all credentials it worked just fine. I now have the swipe back on!!! :D:D:D:D:D

I have had the same problem with my Galxey note 4. After reading the thread here, I went to settings, lock screen, screen security (which mine was set to a pattern), draw your pattern or use what your current security is set for and it will open your options to change to something different. No need to do a factory reset or clear all credentials. Quite simple and easy to solve the problem.:D

Note 4 here. Screenlock is stuck to Fingerprint or Password with everything else being grayed out. I have cleared all credentials (which apparently worked for everyone else) and I don't have any "users" option in my settings. Any other ideas on fixing this?

Thanks. I had just updated and had the same greyed out swipe option. Clearing the credentials worked.

this helped me! thank you so much, my phone has been locked for about a week and its the most annoying thing ever!

I just wanted to give another "thanks". It worked like a charm. Pretty stupid, if you ask me...

The main reason why I decided to go back to swipe instead of fingerprint scanner is that every time I'd unlock the phone it was a hit and miss, sometimes the scanner would come up, sometimes the swipe. There's a bug in it.

Thank you , Clearing "All Credentials" worked.. It was driving me crazy trying to swipe pattern or enter a pin to unlock whenever i get a text ..

:D:D:D:D

I found out via Settings>>Security>>Device Admins>>>that Lookout Security was a CO-Admin and by UNchecking that box I was able to get rid of that "turned off by admin...etc" message. FINALLY fixed it for me.

First off, Welcome to Android Central!

I've experienced this myself and do prefer the stock swipe to unlock but have the same situation as you have. So I've let it be with the PIN to unlock. Now since you've started this thread, I tried again and somehow it did allow me to return to the stock swipe to unlock. That I somehow cannot fathom how it allowed me to revert back?

Hopefully someone here can answer more succinctly.

OMG thank you!! I downloaded app that I could use to pay for stuff and then it set it to require a password. I tried to remove the password but it would not go away. So I decided to remove the app thinking the password would go away. Nope!! So I have been trying and trying to figure it out. I finally came across your site and HALLELUIAH I got the answer I was looking for. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
