Chromecast: Will not cast Netflix from Android Phone

You guys seem to misunderstand what the Chromecast app is for. It is solely used to manage the Chromecast - primarily to setup the WiFi connection but can also be used to reboot and factory reset. It is not used to cast anything ever and does not even need to be installed on your phone at all if your chromecast has already been setup to connect to your wifi network. When you click Ready to Cast in the Chromecast app it is supposed to go to settings because that is its only purpose.

Good to know, I was not aware of that.

Don't know if it helps Scott, but here are a couple of screen shots for you.

Just for giggles can you also screenshot your phone Wi-Fi info. Just IP and wifi connected.

Have you tried logging into netflix's website and from your account screen sign out all devices.

Maybe the phone apps knows you can't cast because you have reached a device limit or something.

Netflix won't open with mobile data off. I don't think I have too many devices working Netflix to cast, we got my wife's kindle to work with CC after the issues with my phone.

No big deal, it still works and the picture is great. I'll try resetting it another day.

That's odd, If I turn wifi off, I lose the CC icon on netflix, it works just fine if I turn off mobile data, in your screen shot I noticed the 4G icon, If your phone is not exclusivity using Wifi, it will not give you the cast option. This has to be a setting problem somewhere causing your problem, one of those little things that make you do a face plant when you figure it out

Well that right there tells you why you are not seeing the cast icon. If it won't open when you turn of mobile data, then it does not see you as connected to the internet through your wifi connection. If it does not see you connected via wifi, it will never show the cast icon. So this is not a chromecast related issue. It is a an issue with Netflix and your phone's wifi connection.

You are not using a VPN or proxy of any kind are you? Netflix needs to see you as in the right country and also needs to see the proper DNS servers to connect. If that is not it, you will have to research problems with Netflix and wifi on your phone to find the problem. But stop wasting your time looking for a chromecast problem because it is not chromecast related at all and you will not see that cast icon until you solve your other problem.

I stand by my previous request for a image of wifi data. I am starting to think your phone is having issues with wifi.

If you turn off mobile data can you do anything online over WiFi.

Also on my note 3 I have a setting for auto network switching under advanced WiFi settings. Is that turned on or off. If it is on unchecked it and see if that makes a difference.
