Danger: Slippery when wet

On the 4th I was at a party with friends. I was playing beer pong near the pool when my friend decided it would funny to push me in the pool with my clothes on. Little did he know, I had my brand spanking new Evo that I waited a month for in my pocket. I was well aware that I had that shiny brick in my pocket as I started tilting over the edge of the pool. Somehow, as the lower half of my body was already half submerged in the 12ft pool, I managed to pull my evo out of my pocket and blindly fling my it over my head. I was fuming when I came out of the pool drenched. I walked over to the general direction of where the phone would have landed and was pleasantly surprised to see it sitting safely on the edge of the grass. VICTORY!!

The bottom of my phone was cracked after dropping it minutes after I left the store. Wish I would have bought a case in store.

i made the switch on release date from blackberry to the evo and i've been getting used to the bigger size and just the general "newness" of any new phone. my old blackberry i had had for years and i never worried about throwing it around, but i baby my evo more than i would, well...a baby :)

why i need a seido case? i have a lot of close calls and one of these times my luck is going to run out.

worst one? taking two dogs to the vet, two different leashes, me being pulled in two different directions and my phone flying out of my hands, headed towards the sidewalk. i dropped my dogs' leashes (luckily i have good dogs that don't run off) and caught the phone. i need the case to keep my baby scratchless!

As many of us Evo owners do, I use my phone to entertain my 5 year old quite a bit. I have a few of her movies on there, plus I have many games that she enjoys quite a bit. On the 4th of July, we went to watch fireworks on the banks of the beautiful St. Croix river in Minnesota. The river banks (a parking lot along the river) was extremely crowded but we got there early enough to snag a pretty prime spot, however we had a good hour and a half until the show would start. So, my little girl got all settled in her folding chair, and began to watch Wall-e on my evo. As the time drew near for the start of the show, she fell asleep (it was almost 10pm). I didn't know she was sleeping and as the show started, the first loud boom from the fireworks woke her up, and as she was violently awoken, she jumped to what seemed a foot in the air. The unfortunate thing was that my Evo went twice as high. Though my daughter landed in her chair, my phone was not so fortunate. It hit the pavement, and the back cover and battery were seperrated from the rest of the phone. Ouch...The back cover now has a case of road rash. Needless to say, the cover would work two fold...to prevent future disformation, and hide the current deformaties suffered from the brilliant firework show. Please, she's going to be 5 for a while. I need the protection.

WHY oh why do people keep their phones on their lap! Oh wait, I'm one of those people :) Got out of my truck / of course phone was on my lap (have the cheapo Sprint soft case on my phone now) and the second I got out blammo! The phone started falling and by dumb luck it landed on my foot and my shoe saved my precious phone. I really got lucky and I'm guessing if it didn't hit the shoe it would have been broken glass all over my lovely Evo screen :(

A hard case would be something I'd buy in the future regardless. I'm in my second week of my 30 day trial (iPhone user, contract expires Jul. 13th and then my number gets ported asap, bye bye AT&T).

"I got no EVO, and it's breakin' my heart
but I got a case, and that's a start."

Jus counting the days till my Verizon account expires to avoid the dreaded ETF and order my EVO- and a case is REALLY important to protect this machine!

designated driver

On my brother-in-laws 21st birthday I volunteered to be his designated driver for the evening. Things were going great until he wanted to make a call on the drive back home. He asked to use my phone so I reluctantly handed it over (yes I am protective of my Evo but unfortunately not enough).
Attempting to instruct someone who has never used a touchscreen phone how to dial a number, while they are intoxicated, was a difficult task but with the new cell phone law in my state and a drunk passenger beside me I wasn't about to dial a number myself. He managed to place the call and the destination of the call was his ex girlfriend;who just happened to be in town with her fianc?. When the conversation didn't go how he wanted it to my phone was the one to suffer; he threw it out the car window! I slammed on the brakes and saw it slide across the pavement where it came to a stop underneath a parked Dodge pickup. I hadn't even been drinking and I felt like I was going to puke! I parked the car and rushed to gather what might remain of my Evo. Fortunately most of the phone was intact but from the angle it hit the pavement the volume buttons got chipped up and the back cover was very scratched and cracked as well as the rear camera lens. Fortunately I did have insurance on the phone but I was going to be out the deductible and a working phone while I waited for replacement.
My brother-in-law is now forbidden to drunk dial and I made him pay the insurance deductible for my replacement Evo.

While I was waiting for my Seidio Active to arrive I was without a case for a couple weeks. My close call is when I set it down on the couch next to me, sat down, and it slipped in between the seats on my leather couch and proceeded to plinko its way down to the tile floor below. I furiously tried to move the couch without doing any further damage to the phone. Fortunately, when I got to it, it was fine. Was very happy when my Active case arrived from Amazon!

near miss

had my Evo on the dash of a friend's car while we were driving around, he decided to take a turn pretty quick and the evo flew out the window!!!! luckily it landed in a grassy ditch missing the gravel shoulder by inches!

With everyone talking about light leakage I have noticed the very little light leakage on my phone. It something that is negligible but at the time something I obsess about because I read about how a brand new phone should not have any problems. So what I do is pick at the edge, try to press it down, try to squeeze the sides and probably cause more damage trying to fix a minimal issue. I need a case to cover the light leakage so I stop tweaking with it. I have been very careful to hold it tightly so I don't drop it, not to lay the camera on rough surfaces and keep it in its own pocket in my purse so it doesn't get scratched. I am almost in no need of a case except for this obsessive compulsive aspect of trying to get rid of the seriously very little light leakage.

well i work in the oilfield on a drilling rig and was walking up the stairs and slipped and droped my evo 18 ft. and it landed in the semi hard mud and now i got a big scratch on the back of the phone , ive actually been lookin at cases since i got my evo on the release day and none of them seem durable enough for me and my hard work, i would get the Seidio case but iam not to fond of online paying cause i already had my id stolen and i dont want the hassel again. so a free Seidio case would be awesome....!!!!!!!!!!

My EVO fell out of my pocket as I left my car. It was outfitted with the $25 Sprint "Body Glove" case. As it hit the ground, the impact made the case simply snap off, broken, and caused the phone to bounce face down onto the concrete. Now i have a broken case and a broken EVO. I'm pretty sure a Seidio case for my replacement EVO is just what I need for real phone protection.

RIP

My story was INSANE! ok so i bought my evo on release day, and sidenote: i take REALLY good care of my phones. I used the phone for almost 4 days and thats when it happened!! I set my phone on my bed one morning and got up. Thats when I heard a light thump on my carpeted floor. So i turn around and notice my evo resting screen-first on my laptop cable. I picked up my phone and just put it in my pocket, not really a big deal, right?

20 minutes later when I turn my screen on, I was sitting there confused why my screen looked like it split in half, and thats when it all hit me.. MY SCREEN BROKE! AND ONLY A FEW DAYS AFTER GETTING IT :(

It was really sad because all that happened was it fell on the carpet from just over a foot. It upset me that the phone isnt reliable enough to take a one foot fall.. I was looking forward to sprint cutting me some slack but I ended up having to pay ANOTHER $100 for a replacement that came after more than 2 weeks.

I NEED THIS CASE!!

thanks :)

Verrrrry close call the other night - I fell asleep on the couch w/ my EVO beside me (of course). Woke up in a daze, stood up, and forgot about my precious EVO - she fell from the couch on to the tiled floor.

The Body Glove case (boo!) that I had on it just 'popped' apart and flung the phone for an unprotected, second bounce. Nice! LUCKILY she landed on her back for that second bounce and not her face - so her shiny front was left unscathed. I was especially fortunate that somehow she managed not to land on her camera lens (I'm assuming - cuz it wasn't scratched).

I just ordered the Seidio Limited Edition Active from Amazon, but with those on back-order (for who knows how long), I figured I'd throw my name in the hat here for the Seidio Active (She would look hot in sage, please, if you have it) ;)

High risk situation - I let my 3 year old use it fire games and painting you're apps. Sometimes she's just careless and drops out...usually on the soda, bed, or carseat, but I'm scared she will drop it on a hard surface. Just don't have the heart to not give out to her all the time.

Epic Evo catch

First off, let me say that I'm finally registering and posting now that I have a reason to, haha. Anyways, glad to be here.

So days after getting my Evo 4G, I'm showing it off to my friends and professors during a break in class. I'm showing them the brute power of my superphone. They're iPhone fanatics and I'm showing them everything that the android platform can do that the iPhone can already do and somethings that it cant. After about 15 minutes of discussion between open source android & apple proprietariness (please allow me to make up words), one of my professors, an apple fanboy through and through, hands me my phone in a quick and abrupt manner as if he was slightly disgusted that anything could even compare with his iPhone...it slips and falls toward the ground. I notice that time slows and I can see my Evo tumbling towards my feet. Without hesitation, I open my feet up a bit, pull them off the ground as high as I can while still standing on my heels, and catch the phone between my two feet. A truly epic save for an epic phone.

Near Miss

While on call of person going into Cardiac Distress.. while getting the patient inside the back of the rig( med transport) Right as I lifted the patient my phone feel out of my pocket. Luckly the compressed Rubber Lined floor of the rig saved and me a tad bit of heart ache.

Heart Stopper

So my buddy apparently enjoys making me mad. We were riding in the car on our way to Best Buy, and hes driving and im sitting in the passengers seat and he reaches over and just joking around snatches my Evo out of my hands while i was reading an article on the Android Central site, and i got really PO'd because i knew it could have just as easily slipped out of his hand and hit the windshield or something, i love my Evo and i guess i'm pretty protective over it, so he thought it was really funny. i took it back from him and turned a little to where he wouldn't be able to take it, and like 5 minutes later he tries to take it again but as i had feared before it slipped from his hand and hit the window full force. It made the most horrible noise i have heard in my life. I literally think my heart stopped for a moment, I yell at him a bit and he reaches down and gets it, i instinctively check it and nothing major happened to it except a dent on the top right hand corner and some minor scratches, if i would have had a Seidio Innocase Active my Evo would have had a dent-less and scratch-less flight.

Well, I always have my EVO in my pants pocket and always make sure I don't put anything else with it. I do so because i know there is no way the phone could come out. But the other day, I had to do what I refuse to do, put the phone in the pocket on the front of my shirt. It holds fine until you bent in front of you to get something on the ground for example and the phone slips out of the pocket. That day I remember thinking, you better not forget about your phone. I guess I had it to long because after 30 minutes I forgot, and try to get something on the ground in my house.
The EVO just slept out of my pocket like soap would from your hands and eneded up on the ground. It did not break and was barely scratch on the side but I sure wish I had a case that day.

DRUNK this past weekend. I had my EVO 4G in my shirts front pocket. I grab a beer from the cooler and begin drinking it. 20 minutes later, I notice my phone was missing from my front pocket. No worries, I though, I have plenty of pockets. I search everywhere and begin to panic. I retrace my steps and find nothing. Suddenly I hear someone outside yell, "Did anyone drop their phone in the ice chest?". I immediately ran outside to find the host holding the EVO in his hands. It was like holding an ice cube in my hands and the beast that is the EVO, was working perfectly. It had landed on a protruding chunk of ice and only the face had been submerged ever so slightly. Ever since, I have been shopping and looking for the perfect case. I don't even have a screen protector on it!

I had to register to tell this was story :X
