I have had several close calls with my EVO, and while so far I've been lucky, I really want to be sure it stays unscuffed. The Seidio cases really look like they pamper the device, without adding a lot of bulk. I would love to deck mine out in one of these!

I went on a trip with friends and family to Israel, for my best friend's little sister's wedding. I brought the Evo along for photos, and to watch movies on the plane.

One day, we all went to the southern region for a day, which is mountainous and desert like, and also very hot. The Dead Sea is also located in the south. The first thing we once we arrived was explore an Oasis called En-Gedi (pronounced Ayn-Geddy) due to the fact that it was nearly 110? degrees out. I had to borrow a pair of soccer shorts from my brother because I forgot to pack my bathing suit. The shorts had no pockets so I had to carry my phone in one hand the entire time. I tied my shirt around my head like a sheik, and I also wore sandals which had foam like soles and lacked tread. I took a bunch of photos in the mountains and waterfalls, being careful not to let anything happen to my phone. After we finished exploring, and after taking a dip in a waterfall area, we were climbing back down the mountain to get in the car and go to the dead sea. My brother, always the leader of the group, tracked some water on a stone stairway. My first step and I slipped, nearly flying off a cliff edge some 30 or 40 feet high. Somehow I managed to regain my balance, and simultaneously ensure NOTHING happened to my phone! WHEWWWW!

Later that day we went to get something to eat by the Dead Sea, and after that we took a dip in the Dead Sea. We decided to take shifts swimming since we had valuables on us that we didn't want to leave unattended (in a foreign land, that just so happened to be in the Middle East, and also on the country Jordan's border). I wrapped my phone up in my makeshift sheik, and set it on the ground. At the Dead Sea the salt concentration is so high that the beach sand is solidified due to the mineral concentration, and the sea floor, while feeling like sand, is actually all salt. It's pretty incredible. So my brother and mother floated in the Dead Sea first as my girlfriend and I took the first shift to watch the valuables. After a half hour my mother got out due to "the burning" from all the salt. My girlfriend and I joined my brother for a little while, then we got out, rinsed off and went to grab our valuables.

I went to put my shirt on which was tightly wrapped up the way I set it down. I totally forgot my Evo was in the shirt and I just let my shirt unwrap hastily with a sort of whipping action. My Evo went FLYING! To make things worse it landed on the sand. The solidified, mineralized sand. Luckily it landed backside down, however it picked up scratches. The back door also popped off, and since then I had trouble for awhile getting it to pop on and off when swapping batteries. Luckily I was able to set the plastic tabs back and it opens and shuts fine, and I mostly buffed away the scratches by rubbing them with my thumb and some saliva, but a case would have been lovely. In fact, I had looked for a case at the mall prior to the trip, but the phone was too new, seeing as how I got it the day after it came out, and left at the end of that week. So that's my story!

Well as most of you fellow Evo 4g owners probably already know, if you stick the 3.5m headphone plug into the 3.5mm headphone jack of th Evo, it fits pretty snug. Sometimes I find it a little too difficult to pull out. (it could be just mine) Well a day came where this silght inconvenience came in handy. A couple of days ago, I was boldly (stupidly) texting on the balcony of may apartment complex. As I was texting I decided to switch over to landscape. I kinda forgot that the headphone plug in the headphone jack obstructs the typing experience and in my efforts to adjust my hand positioning on the phone, its somehow quickly turned into a mini juggle to save my poor phone's life, from its plummet several feet below. It slips out of my hands and instinctively grabbed the phone by the headphone cable and Lo and behold the strength of the cable inside the jack was strong enough to overcome the falling momentum of he phone itself. My precious is now safe in my pocket where it now lives and only comes out during a important call or text. Or when I'm in my car or on carpeted floors. A new case would defiantly help this paranoia. I've been doing some research since and the Seidio seems to be the best choice. this contest came just in the nick of time!

My experience was pretty dramatic but it was really true. I have 3 Evos for family plan and when I first got them. I had all three evo's plugged into my computer port for charging and they were laying on my desk. At that time I was using extra long usb cord that were about 6 feet and they were dragging on the floor with my laptops power AC cable in between them.

My friends were over at my house with their kids and apparently their kid was running around my area. one of them accidentally kicked my laptop power cable and sent the evos flying in the air. two of them hit the carpet floor while the other one i was able to save.

Good thing this was on carpet flooring or else my family members would be running on cracked screens or busted edges.
My car

No sob story here. I need a quality case because my sprint Case is falling apart is a P.O.S

And the phone has slipped out of my hands a couple of times.

I was helping my fiancee move out of her apartment. While carrying a couch down 2 flights of stairs the corner of the couch pushed the phone out of my shirt pocket. I then watched my 2 day old evo bounce and flop down the couch toward it's concrete filled death. Luckily my father's head acted as a stop. When it hit the side of his head it fell back down onto the couch. Father was slightly peeved but the phone was ok. I really need a case lol.

Do Not Do This In Your Car

I was in my car using my Evo on a call (had it on speaker of course) after I hung up I placed my Evo between my thighs and went to park my car and as I got out my car my Evo went flying to the pavement....D'OH!!!!! (Forgot I had my Evo between my thighs). My Evo was lucky it landed on its back, only minor scratches to the battery cover, whoooo!!!!

My wife and I both got Evos the first day they were available. Since she has dropped several camera over the past few years, I decided to get insurance for her phone. We did not get insurance for my phone since I rarely drop things but I did buy a rubber slip on case for my phone.

About a week later her phone was sitting on the kitchen table on a stack of papers. I grabbed one of the papers without realizing the phone was sitting there. I can still see it in slow motion, the phone slowly slid off the stack and bounced on the hard tile floor. Fortunately, it survived without a scratch so we didn't have to use the insurance.

I did get a lot of flack for making her feel like a clutz when buying her the insurance though.

We both love our Evos!

I tend to drive and use my phone often. It isn't a great habit, so I've been trying to wean myself off of it. I have recently started using my car's Bluetooth or a wired headset more frequently; however, I still send/read the random text message. After I am done using the phone, I will place the phone on my lap for easy access.

Once I arrive at my destination, I park, take my keys out of the ignition and open the door to exit my car. There has been more than one instance where I will have forgotten that my phone is on my lap. My EVO, with its flush face, has been dropped on a number of occasions and close to being dropped on many more (I'll catch it or my passenger will remind me).

I am a big fan of these cases since it has a lip around the screen and camera lens. The phone can be placed face down or face up and the only part touching the surface will be the case! Thank you for hosting this contest!

In my little Prius, the only place I have to keep my Evo is in the door handle. Needless to say, occaissionally I will forget to take it out before closing the door, which sets my Evo flying. Case needed....case closed.

My two year old son grabbed my phone of the night stand because he wanted to make a few calls. I politely asked him to give daddy back his phone, but instead he wanted to play a game.......keep away from daddy. He takes of running through the house and I catch up with him in the living room. As I am trying to get my phone back he gets mad and throws it like a two year old is supposed to do. My heart misses a few beats as I see the phone go through the air (everything is in slow motion at this point). Luckily the fall was dampened by one of his soft toys on the ground and it made it through the ordeal without any damage. I learned two things from this. I need a protective case, and sometimes it's beneficial to have toys all over the living room floor.

So far I have been lucky. The drops, yes I said drops, have always been on carpet and not very fall of a fall. The only time the fall was very far, a good timed kick (sticking my foot out) softened the blow. No damage, yet. But next time the timing might be off, that is why I should keep it in a Seidio case :)

Got lucky

I was at a BBQ over the holiday weekend and we tried to get a fire going on the coal grill when suddenly I go to answer my phone and I dropped my phone in the grill where we lit nice fresh hot coals. I quickly removed the grate and noticed my phone was 100% charred ...on the back and if I didn't have my case on it would have been my phone and not the case.

I brushed it off and it was a wreck the case was trashed but I pulled the phone out of the case and it was 100% perfect, yet needless to say it was warm but not scratched, charred or broken.....THANK YOU SEIDIO
Innocase's for being sexy looking and durable.

i got my evo on the release date and broke it the next day, not even 24 hours with my phone.See what happened is that i was in my backyard trying out the camera and video when it suddenly slipped of my hands and landed on the only rock in the whole backyard i actually posted a picture here in the form under my evo!!. i believe if i had a case it wouldn't had slipped off my hand and not spend a whole full week to get my new evo from my insurance.

My 16month old grabbed the phone, looked at me, and I went after him in slow motion... he said "da da" and launched the phone and it bounced off the corner of a marble top table..... and landed on a bean bag chair.... I cannot believe it didnt shatter... but I gaurantee you It wont happen again!

I was on the stairclimber in the gym. I didn't realize that my headphone cable was a bit too short for where I sat my Evo. Two steps later, I realized it. It bounced off the right pedal of the climber and landed safely on the carpeted floor next to it - whew!

Oh, I did it again the next day. Short memory, I guess. I promptly went and bought new headphones with a longer cable!

After getting to work and getting out of the truck, I had my EVO and lunch bag in one hand and laptop bag and keys in other. When I went to lock the truck, the phone (don't ask me how) flipped in the air. I dropped the lunch bag and did the ole swipe at the phone with my hand a couple of times and the phone flipping in the air each time. On the last swipe I finally grabbed it. It would have been a ~5' flipping fall to concrete.

I am a slayer of cell phones.

From dropping old Nokias in the toilet... to snapping flip phones in half, I don't think I have ever owned a phone which I did not destroy.

Smartphones have been no different. Before my Evo, I owned two iPhones. My first, my 3 year old son smiled as he put his heel through the screen. My second fell a mere two feet from my shirt pocket and landed face down. Thinking nothing of it I casually scooped it up only to find a giant chunk of glass missing with cracks throughout the rest. Disheartened, I kept that splintered (yet usuable) iPhone for another year+, vowing not to repeat history and extend my AT&T contract any further.

But my heart was set on Evo, and now I bask in all of my rooted Android goodness. You would think the very first thing I would do is buy a case, right? Wrong. I sit with my naked phone which I have juggled twice (saving in the end), waiting for the day I repeat history. Ironically enough, I almost did.

Evo sitting in the same iPhone murdering pocket and sure enough it slips, falls a good 3 feet this time, and lands face down onto concrete. Woe filled my body as I knew I would have to spend another year or more with 4.3 inches of splintered failure. Alas, the gods were on my side and granted me reprieve.. All is well and I have no scratches.

So you see it is a sign.. I must win this case. The gods demand it.

good case would have kept me in Palm

This deviates from the requested story line slightly, but I've been through multiple devices with a plethora of Seidio accessories so its a great opportunity to plug a great supplier!

I had a tried-n-true Treo 755p for years, and multiple Palms before that. For as long as I can remember I've used Seidio screen protectors, holsters, etc., to protect my Palms.

My family was getting ready to head out of town for 10 days, and I was running errands. The last stop was the gas station to fill up for the trip. As I stepped down from our full size van, I felt an odd sensation and a noise that made me freeze cold. I looked down and saw my beloved Treo face down on the concrete. I forgot I had been making calls and dropped the phone in my lap. IF ONLY I had put it back in the Seidio holster, it would have been fine! BUT NO . . . I was in a hurry and not focused. And the worst of it was I had no case around my Treo to protect it from such a disaster!

I gingerly picked up the Treo and turned it over. It had a huge crack right down the screen, and after almost an hour of Emergency Technical Response I knew it could not be saved.

So, now I was hours from leaving town for 10 days with no cell phone and no way to access email or business contact info. Enter the EVO ! I knew very little about the current smartphone options, but I knew without a doubt I wanted nothing to do with any devices starting with the letter "i". My newest best friend at Best Buy introduced me to the EVO, and I've never looked back.

Now, my EVO stays secure in its new Seidio holster, shielded in front with a Seidio screen protector and in back with an Innocase II Surface. At one time I thought I would never leave Palm, and I certainly didn't want my Palm life to end so violently. But I've learned my lesson! My EVO stays in its case, and rides in its holster, where it's secure!

evo case

I picked up my evo on the 4th(release day) and had shoulder surgery on the 10th. When we got home from the surgery center my wife was helping me out of the car by my good arm, which also was cradling my evo, when it slipped out of my hand. Well my foot shot out to cushion its fall which was successful, but knocked down my wife in the process. She let me have it for a good hour about my "stupid" phone, how I care about it more than her which I assured her was not the case, all the while I was using my fingers on my good hand to make sure my evo wasn't scratched because I wouldn't dare look down at it due to the risk of death.
