I have a tendency to hold my phones around in my hand and swivel it in a circular motion. (Hold the phone around the middle and rotate it from the edge in a circle. Not sure how else to explain it heh.) Unfortunately, this has caused me to drop me phone on several occasions. Once I dropped it from 2 stories (leaning over the balcony upstaris). I was lucky that it landed on carpet at least and it is still working. A case would definitely ensure my phone survives any further drops!

Horror story here... Just 3 days ago I had my Incredible in my hand while walking. It slipped out of my hand and hit the pavement. Screen is shattered in the top left and the proximity sensor no longer works so the screen wont turn on during phone calls :(

I don't have any horror stories of my own, since I'm very cautious with my phones, but I have one of my dad's greater stories. He managed to run over one of his phones with his motorcycle, in the garage. He dropped it without realizing it, then somehow kicked it with his foot so it was directly under the bike, then found it with the tire as he was backing out of the garage. I take after him, so I figure it's only a matter of time until I do something horrendous to one of my phones.

Well, due to signal problems, I'm forced to hold my phone differently. It's very similar to this:

So obviously I need a case so I don't touch the lower end of the left side of the phone. Please help, Android Central and Seidio!!!?!@#

EDIT: upon further inquiry, I've figured out this forum is for these so called 'HTC DROID Incredible' phones. Ah well, entry still counts ;)

I just got back home from Disney World a few weeks ago. I was riding the Tea Cups with my wife and daughter. The ride consists of being in a small 3 person tea cup that twists and turns around a track. I had my original motorola droid in my shorts pocket without a case or screen protector. I would take the phone out every few seconds to snap a picture when I noticed my phone wasnt in my pocket. It had somehow slipped out my pocket (since it didnt have a case) and landed inside the "tea cup". It had a few scratches but nothing serious. Luckily, no one stepped on it. I was so nervous all day that i'd either lose the phone or i'd totally damage it from another ride. Considering I just got my HTC incredible, I better get a case so that I don't run into any problems when I go back to Disney World.

This isn't about my Droid, I ordered a Droid Incredible a few weeks ago as I'm switching from a BlackBerry Storm, and I really don't want it to get messed up so I figured I'd tell a sad story about my BB Storm and hope I win something to protect my Droid :)

I was standing outside the barber shop waiting for my wife to come back and pick me up, and I guess I was being a little impatient as I was walking over to the shade. It's not like it was a bad haircut or anything, and I had no idea what was about to happen. Anyway I reach in my pocket and pulled out my phone only to have it sprout wings and fly out of my hand like I was setting doves free. My phone flew through the air about 10 feet at which point it hit the ground and then slid across the cold hard concrete like it was some kind of criminal being bound and dragged on the ground behind a cowboy. It only finished sliding, probably about another 10 feet, when it smashed into the brick/concrete/stuco wall.

I was devestated, and probably would have started crying it weren't for the fact that my wife was coming to pick me up. I walked over to my phone and the back of it was all scratched up and the screen had a crack in it :'(

If I had a case, I'm none of that would have happened. I'm sure the phone wouldn't have flown out of my hand, as it would have ensured it's wngs came out and I would have had a better grip on it, and even if it did fly out of my hands I'm sure with a case it wouldn't have gotten all scratched up and cracked the screen.

Near Miss in Embalming Room

I was at work in the Prep Room at the Funeral Home when my HTC Incredible rang in my pocket. I tried to pull it out but the nitrile gloves caught it and I dropped it on the Embalming Room Floor :( Thank goodness it didn't seem to hurt the phone.....

When my oldest son turned 3, overnight he became big enough to reach on to the counter. One day I left my phone too near the edge, and he was able to reach it. At first he was just pretending to talk so I decided to allow it, but all of the sudden he decided to switch jobs from businessman to MLB pitcher, and to my horror threw it full speed into the trim of a door. It hit so hard there was actually a noticeable bend in the phone. Needless to say there were some serious issues with the phone, but a case certainly would have absorbed a large amount of energy of the impact, and perhaps saved the phone.

I keep my DINC in my pockets and it seems at some point in everyday it gets into the same pocket I keep my badge in, I have a screen protector on it for the screen but the sides and the back have some nice chips missing, and I am only on my second week!

So there I was...enjoying my first venture into the android world, and the smartphone world at that, when I decided to go hang out with my friends and show them my new toy. Everything was going great and they thought it was a cool phone, some iphone vs android trash talking ensued and eventually they kept trying to take it away from me cause I was glued to it :p haha. Well after that someone came up with the idea to start making paper airplanes and we all jumped at the chance to one up each other with what we thought would work and the fly the best. All this was happening outside on the street in front of our friend's house at around 10pm, it's a relatively quiet street so we had ample room to conduct our little contest. Anyways, we were all busy folding and testing our planes when I decided to start folding mine on the roof of my friends car, I was holding my phone to give myself some light when all of a sudden a small gust of wind came and lifted my paper...at that point I did the most stupidest thing I could have done...I tried to catch the damn paper and while I was doing that I let go of my phone in mid air  It felt like the matrix in slow motion, I was looking at both items falling and trying to catch both with each hand and I almost had my phone but it bounced out of my hand and landed face down on the street! I was horrified, how could I have done this without even owning it for a full day!?!?! I reached down for the phone, while my other hand still clutching that wretched paper, and I picked up my newly blemished dinc :( The damage was not as bad as I thought it would have been, somehow the screen was untouched, but 3 out of the 4 corners were scratched and dented. The lower left front looks so ugly now, I was just relieved the beautiful amoled screen was intact. Now I can't enjoy the freshness of my new phone without remembering that horrible accident of mine. So today I post this in hopes of getting a case to protect my dinc and hopefully I'll be successfully rooted by the end of the afternoon :)

One week old Incredible, and a 70 year old father. He picked up the phone and started poking at it. I screamed "no!!" and dove across the room to rescue it from his clumsy clutches. I need that rugged case bad.

contest...

I am a contractor, and most days I am on a construction jobsite. I have had the incredible since launch day. The only case available then In the store was the Verizon one that the ends of the phone are exposed. I figured it was better than nothing. The phone is kept in the holster on my belt most of the time. Sometimes I work in very close quarters. Luckily, my phone is not any more damaged that it is right now. There is a fairly deep gash in the end of the phone between the power button and headset jack. The camera lens cover is dented and scratched around the outer edge ( I use the camera frequently to take progress pictures on the job, so these dents/scratches worry me. As, if they were any closer to the center of the lens cover, they would hinder picture quality. I also have a a faint scratch down the center of the screen, but it really is not noticeable unless the screen is off.
Due to the nature of my work I have to take the phone out of the case frequently to clean the dust and dirt out as well.
I would love the ruggedized case.
I had the storm before this phone, and couldn't be happier. My incredible assists me every day in my business. I need better protection for it.
Thanks.
Jon

Hold it together...

I was standing at a crosswalk, waiting for a green light and checking my voice mail in Google Voice, when this guy literally ran into me, sending my Droid Incredible flying onto the road. The traffic was very heavy and there was no way to run after the phone. All I had left to do was watching how a huge Ford F250 truck rolled right over the device. It was a sad sight and, regardless of how Incredible the Droid was, it did not survive through the incident.

I wish, however, that I had a case on the phone as it could have helped keeping all the tiny, mingled pieces of the destroyed phone together.

Pulled the Incredible out of my right pocket and my wallet out of my left pocket at the same time, then forgot which one was in which hand - tossed the phone onto my granite countertop and carefully placed the wallet in the wicker basket with the other phones. Luckily only chipped the back case but from now on I will be doing that as two separate motions instead of one!

I dropped my phone in a glass of water that was just big enough to fit the phone. I had a glass of water sitting on my desk and my hands were full so I threw my phone down from my cheek onto the desk and it landed in my glass. So unlucky that it even made it in. I pulled it out super quick and let everything dry out for over a day and it magically still worked. I was so happy. I didn't want to wait for them to try and ship another one. I know that if I had a case I would never have had this problem. The phone would never have fit into the glass of water because it was able to fit halfway into the glass just perfectly. With that case I would have avoided all problems.

The day I received my Incredible. I was playing around with the phone. When my wife came home and wanted to see the phone. When I was handing it to her it slipped through her fingers. We both started a funny juggling act, slapping the phone from hand to hand. At one point we both lounged forward and budded heads so hard I knocked out. After a few minutes I awoke to my wife calling out my name and shaking me franticly. Luckily the phone ended up falling on to the couch safe and sound. After putting ice on my noggin. I forgot the phone was on the couch and sat on it cracking the screen. Luckily I was blessed with a merciful Verizon employee that exchanged my phone for a brand new one. After laughing his but off from hearing my story.

I was walking into work when a coworker opened the door into me bumping my dinc out of my hand. I tried to save it but had to watch it bounce on to the side walk. A case would have saved my phone from scratches. I could really use a case next time. ;p

I was using my Incredible to listen to music while mowing the yard, and the headphone wire got pinched in the mower handle (between it and the accelerator handle, or whatever you want to call it) as I was turning the mower, and it pulled the phone out of the crappy holster-like thing I had made for it (to be able to easily control the music, otherwise I'd just keep it in my pocket like an intelligent person). Usually I get lucky when I drop things with headphones attached to them, catching them by the cord, but not this time of course. The Incredible is a bit heavier than my little 4GB Zune that I used for music before, so the headphones came unplugged and the phone landed almost right in front of the mower...obviously I felt/heard all this happen so I didn't mow over it, but it was still a scary sight having my precious phone that close to those spinning blades. It probably sounds like a boring story, but obviously it was a bit more traumatic for those involved (a.k.a. me). I don't know how much good a case would do against a lawnmower, but hopefully I that won't happen again

My new Incredible lives in a battlefield.... My purse. Keys, wallet, change, lipstick, nail file, work ID, water bottle..... Lil guy needs some armor!
