I've tried everything and this image will not flash. I can't get custom recovery. The mv line is telling me the file doesn't exist but I looked in the list and it does. I've skipped it, still won't flash custom recovery.
It acts like everything works but it still comes back as the normal LG recovery.
Please help.

Try this then
adb shell
cd /system/etc/
rm install-recovery.sh
If it says not found the try
rm install-recovery.sh.bak
You should probably reboot after that and then try again.
Okay then after you do
adb shell
mount -o remount,ro -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock5 /system
cd /system/etc/
rm install-recovery.sh
I'm sorry but it is still giving the same error. Why is installing the recovery so difficult? Rooting was easy...I'm lost man. What other tips you have?

When you did the 'ls /system/etc/" you said it's still listed is it listed as install-recovery.sh or install-recovery.sh.bak?
Okay that's what you want it to be. You should be able to flash the recovery now and have it stick. Ill past the commands here just&paste them,leaving out the () that ill put around each command.
(adb shell)<-- if it's $ then type "su" first,so that you have # sign.
(mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock5 /system)
(cat /sdcard/flash_image > /system/bin/flash_image)
(chmod 755 /system/bin/flash_image)
(flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-RA-GNM-thunderc-s-1.1.0.img)
(reboot recovery)
If you get any errors stop and post them here if not continue on.

Did you extract the flash_image file from the zip from first post onto sdcard?
As long as you talking about the recovery by smccloud yes you can install that one instead but it's same process,just have to make sure all the files are on your sdcard now and enter the commands and you should have a custom recovery.
****, this whole time I was missing flash.img. I don't know why but it wasn't with the download. I put it on and Wala! Thanks for your patience. I'm good now.

Download both the recovery.img and the flash_image.zip. Place the recovery.img on sdcard,not in any folder. Open the flash_image.zip copy the flash_image file onto the sdcard,not in any folder.
Then open command prompt like you did to root.Copy&Paste the commands that i place inside the ()don't include the ().Hit enter after the command.
(adb shell) if you get $ type (su) to get the # sign.
(mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock5 /system)
(cat /sdcard/flash_image > /system/bin/flash_image)
(chmod 755 /system/bin/flash_image)
(mv /system/etc/install-recovery.sh /system/etc/install-recovery.sh.bak)
(mount -o remount,ro -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock5 /system)
(flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-RA-GNM-thunderc-s-1.1.0.img)
(reboot recovery)
If you get any error stop and post them and we will work them out.
