CyanogenMod 7.1 Alpha 3 Released!

Installed alpha3. Everything seems to work good except that having 'problem loading widgets' on desktop. Please let me know if it can be cleared.

I do not have the 'problem loading widgets' on desktop.

Make sure your desktop isn't 'locked'. Settings --> More --> Lock Desktop

I did have an issue with the Google Search widget immediately after the update but didn't have a problem reinstalling it.

install this for the first time yesterday evening... Thanks to this video, it went all smooth... [YT]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJ57i2d7NBY[/YT]

Has anyone else had a problem with pixelled video playback (Netflix, mxvideo player, etc) with alpha 3. Video was perfect on alpha 2 and can't find any settings to fix it. Everything else is running smooth

Installed it successfully and loving it! So far no problems except crackling speakers (which I get every so often with webOS. A simple reboot fixes it.:D

Issues I've noticed with CM7 A3. None of these happened to me in Alpha 2.1:

- The Render FX Widgets, when activated, make the system veerryy slooooow.
- Bringing up the Android browser that's already running (in the background) takes 5+ seconds. Killing it and starting a new one is instantaneous, however. [edit: This problem seems to have disappeared]
- Placing Touchpad on Touchstone causes system to reboot. This happened only once so far.
- Removing USB cable after charging causes reboot. Happened only once so far.
- Render FX Widgets, when activated, do not seem immediately to take effect until the screen is repainted.
- Android browser crashes frequently.
- Haptic feedback no longer works.

I'll be editing this list as I gain more experience with Alpha3.

Yup, seems to be a step backwards for me too, I'm sure they'll get onto it.

So much complexity, so much regression testing ... I'm not sure I want to go back to software development :-\

Anyone have a problem with the camera app? I can start the app and see the view from the camera but It won't snap a picture. Then a message comes up and says it is going to force close. When I try to open the app again it says camera error - Cannot connect to camera.

+1. Same happens to me. Found out when I tried to use Skype. :(

I checked and you're right the camera is screwy and grainy now too. Also I'm finding a few bugs with the DolphinBrowser now. It's still a work in progress so **** will happpen.

Yeah I haven't had much luck with the camera app with any of the alpha versions. I am sure they are looking at it.

Installed without issues by downloading directly to touchpad and wiping caches in CWM. She's been running fine and stable for a day now which is nothing new for me as 2.1 did the same on my TP.
I will play with it for a couple of days and see if there are any benefits to keeping alpha 3 for my uses.
I will probably revert back to alpha 2.1 as so far, the only difference I see between the two is the lowered video playback quality.
I've been fortunate not to have been plagued by the SOD issue, and I'm not much of a gamer. I'm sure the changes made in this alpha benefit a wider audience but they have broken a major application for my tablet use.:'(

When you say you have a major app;ication broken, which one are you speaking of?

I have to agree. I find that Alpha3 introduces problems (see my earlier post for a list, post #30, this thread).

The only benefit it gives me is better WiFi behavior, but that is a minor issue. I am considering restoring my Alpha 2.1 backup until these new bugs get fixed.

Read it, You may be right about the battery use. It seemed that way to me also but I was on Netflix for a long while last night, so I'm not sure. I don't have a Touchstone so can't address that. I stopped using the android browser earlier on and started using Dolphin but it did seem a little buggy after update. Revertting back to earlier build is up to you but they will probably have a fix for it in a few days. CM is good about addressing bugs. I was thinking it may have had something to do with it being a holiday and somebody may have rushed something because they were running out of time.
