Im gonna point out your signal is lower compared to his. He also could be located closer to the data center in KC that Virgin/Sprint uses.

Do you guys have a link to changing prl?
A look at the reference guide (stickied) has the link in there.

Here is mine on PRL 61677(? changed months ago), though the PRL did almost nothing for me.
MUCH better. Last week I was getting .3 at best. (200 miles from Kansas City, though that won't change your rate dramatically, mostly your ping). An earlier test, which the screenshot failed I pulled 2.3

I never do either.
That was the kind of speeds I got a year ago, but it has been dwindling to the slow speed I posted, until today. Unfortunately, I was in St. Louis today for work and I got 10kbps.

I make trips to St. Louis every so often and I get crappy speeds there to. Now my cousins wifes phone is a Sprint android and side by side she get 10x better speeds. Pisses me off everytime I am visiting them in STL.

Here at Virgin Mobile, our mission is to deliver an outstanding customer experience. Sometimes that
means making difficult choices in order to provide the best possible service to the greatest number of customers.

To make sure we can keep offering our Beyond Talk Plans at such great prices, we're putting a data speed reduction in place for anyone who uses over 2.5GB of data in a month.

How will it work?
Starting March 23, 2012, if you use over 2.5GB of data in a month on your Beyond Talk Plan:

Data speeds may be reduced to 256Kbps or below for the rest of your month.
If data speeds are reduced, they will return to normal as soon as your next plan month starts.
If you'd rather not wait for your new month to start, you can restart your plan immediately through
My Account.

Will it affect me?
Based on your activity for your last plan month ending in December, you could be affected by this
change.

If you continue to use the same amount of data as you did in your last plan month, you may see your
data speeds reduced during a plan month when the data speed reduction is implemented on
March 23, 2012. You can still use your phone to do everything you currently do, but you may experience
slower page loads and file downloads and lags in streaming media.

This will not affect your ability to text or make calls with your phone.

How will I know if my data speeds have been reduced?
If you reach 2.5GB of data in a month, you will receive a text message letting you know your data speeds
will be reduced for the rest of your plan month.

By putting this data speed reduction in place, we're making sure we can deliver the same quality service
you've come to expect from Virgin Mobile. We hope you understand.

Thank you.

Don't say that too loud, Eollie might hear you.
If people want to use the phone as a wfi hotspot more power to them. I have helped friends install tether apps so they could do homework and what not. Just be aware of your data cap and if you are going over it evaluate why. One thing people dont realize is there has always been a soft cap in place.

Furthermore you can take your comment and shove it. Im sorry I have morals and no tolerance for drama queens. If somebody wants to post they are being dramatic and cancelling their account over something like this I will point out how stupid they are. Simple facts Virgin is doing what other carriers have been doing for atleast six months. People left Verizon and ATT over data throttling only to comeback shortly later. Verizon even had a grace period they were unofficially supporting to allow people to pick up their old plan.

I doubt I can download 2.5gb in a month at the speeds I'm getting.
I managed to join right after the $10 price hike and right before the new cap.
I always find a way to lose. :D

I'm just bothered that there doesn't seem to be a good infrastructure for 3g and 4g to support heavy data use yet.
I don't have a problem with a cap, it's understandable, but I really would prefer seeing something along the lines of 10gb limits with a .5mbps throttle over 2.5gb/<256kbps.

4G needs to grow badly.

Dude, come on, I'm joking, I think its fine to tether, just not 20GB... unless I'm misunderstanding what your saying.

Tether, but tether responsibly.
I only do it when I have a customer on dialup, no internet at all, or I can't piggyback their network.

20gigs a month is abuse on any cell plan, especially one for $25 a month.
Get broadband you leech.
