Come to think of it, that could be why I never had issues. I have my settings backed up with Titanium backup and I believe that includes the privacy settings (or at least, I haven't fiddled with them recently) and I did wipe everything every time I installed a new nightly (including running the debug system format zip) so thinking that's probably it :P

Not sure if a titanium restore of apps would restore these settings as well, but possible? Who knows..

Also, for those of you who were talking about poor battery life, I think I've found the answer. I was being plagued by extremely poor battery life as well - I could literally watch the percentage drop, and it would only last about 10 hrs or so at the max. I looked around and found an old tip of making sure your radio is set to CDMA auto. Apparently, it can sometimes get set to GSM auto, which results in the radio almost constantly searching for signal, even though it is still connected to CMDA signal, and this shows up as an extremely high Time Without Signal (TWS %). Mine was crazy high - at least 60% on a regular basis, sometimes as high as 80% or more.. Anyway, here's how to fix it:

  1. Open up the dialpad, and type:
    *#*#4636#*#*
(the numbers are for 'info'; don't press call, it should automatically go to a 'Testing' menu)
  2. Go into 'Phone information'
  3. Press Menu, and select 'Select radio band' (this will result in a force close, but that's what we want.. just keep going.)
  4. Go back into 'Phone information' and scroll down to the bottom'. It will probably still say 'CDMA auto (PRL)', but the problem is this is probably a visual glitch. Or it might say 'Unknown'. Either way, switch it to something else, then switch it back to 'CDMA auto (PRL)'. Then you can turn off the radio and turn it back on with the button right underneath that.
  5. At this point, the fix has been applied, but it would be a good idea to clear the battery stats to get a fresh start. So boot into recovery and do that, then reboot. The fix *should* stick after this reboot, but I think it didn't when I first did it. But assuming it does, then you're golden. It will be like this for all other reboots. If it does not, then just do it again. You can tell if it worked if when you go into battery usage, and go into cell standby, the TWS% is much lower. I charged mine completely overnight after applying this fix and have been off the charger now for over a half hour and TWS% is still at 0% (even though cell standby is at 46% (but that's not a problem at all..), and my battery is still at 100%. Before, by this point, it would probably already have dropped 5% with the same amount I've been using it.

I'm pretty hopeful to get my usual 1.5-2 days' worth of battery life out of this phone now, but will update if this isn't the case..

Now I'm just looking for a simple way to get a battery percentage in the statusbar.. There are themes made to go with the built-in Theme switcher, but they're made for hdpi, not mdpi (like us). So there are numerous graphical glitches, although they do accomplish the percentage. I've read that this was left out of CM7 (it used to be in CM6) to improve battery life because otherwise there would be over 100 png's with xml coding to control it, and now it's much simpler and far less battery-consuming. Guess I can't complain with that..

Zefie,

Where can one fix the voicemail that says *86 instead of ur #? Reason im asking is cause i have a evo4g and im on cm but that still hasnt been addressed yet. So im seeing if what u did would work for the evo? Thanx man, im looking throu all this everyday for my gf phone :) she also thanxs u for a great job!

CM7 4G.

OK, I've read and reread all 67 pages of this thread. I've been able to flash TR 1.7 with no issues. Trying to flash CM7 and hitting the same error every time:

-- Installing: SDCARD:update-cm-7-02202011-NIGHTLY-thunderc-Xionia-signed.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
E:can't open /sdcard/update-cm-7-02202011-NIGHTLY-thunderc-Xionia-signed.zip
(Unknown error: 0)
Installation aborted.

I have wiped data/cache/dalvik, flashed the Debug-formatSYSTEM.zip and the FORMAT_ALL.zip and still come up with this error. I know I am following the instructions to a "T". Simple android noob mistake maybe? Any ideas?

BTW, I'm using Xionia Clockwork recovery.

Have you tried to re-download the zip?

Quick question - Can CM7 not update PRL and profile? I can't find where the option is since running this ROM. Was just curious.

Also, for those having GPS problems where the satellites will give a location but towers don't, it has been mentioned a few times that allowing Google to gather location data (can't remember the exact wording) when you first activate the market fixes that.

I updated from CM7 build 18 to 20 and didn't select that, had the same GPS problem discussed. After reading that suggestion to allow it later on, I just reflashed the gapps zip and it presented me with reactivating the market, etc where that option was presented. I allowed Google to gather location data from me and now it works pefectly fine for me.

If you still have problems with that option selected, I'm sure it would be more helpful for Zefie and other devs to troubleshoot by mentioning that still causes a problem.

CM7 4G.

Settings > Call Settings > Voicemail settings

Then just click on Voicemail number and type in your # instead of the *86.

Found a potential bug...wondering of anyone else sees it.
In chomp if you hit menu attach image then select capture new. When you click ok after taking the pic camera force closes and the picture doesn't attach...don't know if other mms programs fail the same way

using handsent, i was able to receive a mms with pic, reply with camera, take pic, attached pic, send pic. no problems.
edit: she did receive it via handcent. both ways worked for me.

Hi guys I'll probably be back to work on this a lil more after my bday on 3/3.

Although there isn't much left I can do with my skills, we are going to need someone proficient in Java, C, and preferably Android itself.

handcent works for me....must be a chomp issue

zefie, hopefully you'll have an idea, with 2.3.3 out now, is there any benefit to the new version and is it something that will be implemented in time?

02252011 released. Please also read the notice on the bottom of the OP thread regarding Dropbox, it is important if you want more releases :)

Has anyone gotten the Sprint Apps to work on this? I tried installing them from the Lego ROM thread, but it caused the phone to go into a boot loop. Had to reflash to get it back.

holy cow, is it the 3rd already? lol

signing up for an acct now Zefie!

ignore my previous question, i was not in a good mind state (wasn't thinking that cm7 would have to make the move to 2.3.3 before we can even think about it for this build, duh!).

flashing now :)
